USA, Canada / Renewal of Polish passport from the USA [44]

My polish passport expired about 10 years ago and I decided to renew it last September. In the past, I could go to any polish travel agency, make the payment and let them work with the consulate. Well, this time I had to make the trip to the consulate in person with the old passport and the pictures ($20.00). Like you said, the renewal is $114.00 in cash. I spent about 4 hours in line hugging my ticket numbered 56. I found my experience at the Polish Consulate in Chicago very disappointing and not friendly at all.

Heck, I survived it. My polish passport is ready to be picked up (in the middle of November), but I need to take a day off work to make another trip there because they will not mail it. It sucks!

When I was renewing my American passport I just went to the Post Office, mailed my passport and a form, paid $86.00 and received a new passport in the mail within three weeks. What a difference in service!

Actually, I would not mind to visit some old polish cemetery...

Good luck with the website! I hope you you get lots and lots of polish residents in Wisconsin as members.

Love / How to Make (Polish?) Women happy? [96]

Share the darn housework. If I cook and clean the house, you better fix the faucet and know how to build a deck, but if you don't know how to do it, then you better make enough money to pay somebody also to do it. Just a couple of small examples :)

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

I've heard they are all gay ;)

I'm sure some are, but the ones who love women...oh, boy, they really do! Lots of them! :)

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

We call catholic girls ''quiet priest wives'' in Greece for some reason.

Wow, that's the first time I see you revealing the country you're from! lol.

Regardless of what anybody says, polish women as well as most women in the world have the need to be somewhat emotionally involved before they will go to bed with a guy.

Having sex just because it feels good gets boring and shallow at some point, especially after the emotional connection is gone.
That's when couples run to the lawyers office, change a partner or have affair.

USA, Canada / What do the Poles hate and love about the U.S.? [170]

Hate:
All the baloney in the name of security (thank you - The patriot Act)
some of the stupid TV shows which appeal to a limited public audience, yet - the rest of the world thinks it is true!
more and more scrutiny when it comes to bureaucracy (where do I remember it from and ran away from?)
the most recent health-care debates
liberals embracing and encouraging all of the above

Love:
the wide open roads, the variety of scenery
the convenience of shopping day and night (or late into the night)
that the life is still fairly inexpensive (utilities, gas, food etc)
friendly and smiling people
endless optimism bordering with naivety
the honesty of the average person you meet and talk to
the opportunities awaiting with the right skills and attitude

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

There are plenty of women in the USA having a highly paid daytime job, yet they have another highly paid job at night. Not exactly a standing on the corner job - they are call girls, very much in demand. This kind of behavior knows no ethnic or racial boundaries.

As long as the market is there, there will always be the sellers and buyers. Polish girls are no exceptions to the game.

Love / SHE'S 25, HE'S 85 (Polish actor Andrzej Łapicki) -- ANY FUTURE? [82]

It's their business, their future..whatever's left of it. :)

Remember Anna Nicole Smith? If she did not do drugs or let anybody push them on her, she'd be a rich widow living happily ever after.

Maybe this chick thinks, he's got money. Times are tough, you know.

Life / 80% of Polish people are boring or can't party, why? [179]

Maybe 80% can not, but the remaining 20% make up for it! :)

Freebird, maybe you are not lucky enough to get into this fun loving circle or you are a sour puss face yourself.

News / What's the stupidest question asked about Poland? [414]

What do you think, people of PRL didn't party? Of course there were discos!

WE sure did, the light ball turning at the ceiling and all. What I experienced in Poland as a kid, teen or a very young woman, I find comparable in The USA for people my age.

Only people who listen to the western media think we didn't. Poland was always very open even from behind the 'iron curtain'.

Life / POLISH TEENAGERS TURN TO PROSTITUTION... [77]

This is not unique to Polish women only. I heard that many women in The USA are turning to this highly paid and always in demand "job"...you know, crisis is here. Hehehehe.

Educated women, sometimes even married, go figure.

I was in Poland last year and as my brother, his wife and my niece drove between Kielce - Jedrzejow, we had also seen the scantily dressed, heavily made up girls waiting for customers on the side of the road. Sad. Only in Europe.

"Our" girls are not that visible. She could even be your neighbor.

UK, Ireland / POLISH MAN 25 MURDERED IN LEEDS UK [19]

Yes, it's a sad story. Could it be just a robbery attempt gone bad?
Unfortunately, people do not realize that good and bad neighborhoods make a difference and a cheap rent is not worthed the risk...

Food / WHAT DID YOU EAT FOR POLISH EASTER TODAY? [45]

My friend invited me to a wonderful Easter breakfast, which lasted about three hours! :) We started with a plate of white barszcz with eggs and sausage. The plate had to include some pieces which were blessed. Then we chowed on variety of home made salads, sausage, bacon, cheeses, stuffed eggs...After that, we had home made Easter babka and cookies. The kids painted the eggs. Each and everyone was a work of art!

I did not take a picture of absolutely everything, but here are some samples!

  • A peek at the table

  • Another look

  • The most beautiful Easter Eggs ever!

  • Easter lamb made of sugar

Language / Polish Polka Music: Question About A Common Phrase [9]

ive never enjoyed watching any kind of retardation

And I've never enjoyed reading any kind of retardation.
I'd rather listen to the sound of Tibetan bells on CD or African Tam Tams.

Language / Polish Polka Music: Question About A Common Phrase [9]

Hey, the 'crap" made him lots of money, you know.
Just because you don't like it it does not mean it's crap. Stick to rap if you prefer and let others enjoy what they like. I don't much care for it myself, but it's sure fun to watch the people who do!
