POLISH MAN 25 MURDERED IN LEEDS UK

Sorry , i don,t know how to post links , but the story is in the Yorkshire post... 25 year old Stawomir lackowski was taken to hospital suffering from serious head injuries where he later died...

This attack occured in the same area where the young Polish girl was murdered by a neighbour , not the nicest area of Leeds i have to say...

There is no suggestion that this man was attacked because he was Polish , likely as not it was just because he was living in an area of high crime , the motive for the attack is not known....Police have apointed a Polish speaking officer to deal with the case , and have asked for information from the Polish community in Leeds...

I was not born in Leeds , but i lived there for 22 years , and this area is not one i would choose to live in , but i guess for Polish people arriving in Leeds looking for work its a cheap place to live...

Once again i an sadened that somebody has come to my country to make a better life , and died long before their time...

I have no doubts the Police will catch those responsible , but of course it won,t bring back this poor guy... R.I.P

Yes, it's a sad story. Could it be just a robbery attempt gone bad?
Unfortunately, people do not realize that good and bad neighborhoods make a difference and a cheap rent is not worthed the risk...

This area of Leeds is known to have a drug problem , street muggings are a bit popular , and there has been a bit of gun crime among dealers , somebody got shot a short while back in this area...A few years back they put up camera,s all over the place , so maybe they can get some evidence from these....as i said its not a place i would want to live....

I agree, it's an awful thing to have happened, but often cheap places to live are cheap for a reason.

Sadly we've long since lost the time when regular patrol of policeman were seen and there seems little protection for decent citizens these days. Wer'e all pretty much on our own. Decent folk need to stick together.

Even if the evil little sh!t that did this gets caught, what kind of justice will the victim's family see ?

It's not as though murderers get sent down for any decent length of time anymore.

That part of Harehills isn't the nicest district in Leeds - an organised crime problem for many years. I lived about half a mile away and always felt safe though.

From the link it seems to have all the hallmarks of a gangland killing.

Not really, if it was 'gangland' he'd be turning up in pieces or in a bad way (tortured or shot). It is quite evident he's been up to no good though, since he's using different names.

He would if it was real Mafia. East Leeds is a bit less organised than 'The Godfather', thank goodness. That particular bit of Harehills where he was murdered has a bit of a chequered history, fairly overt drug dealing and some dodgy bars which don't seem to have a licence.

Wonder what it was all about?

These days you can get killed for looking at somebody , it could be there is nothing more to it than that....

Here's an update. The police hace arrested and charged somebody.

Doesn't say if it's organised crime or a personal fight, but no doubt it will all come out in court.

Mariusz Rogowicz, 24, of Harehills, Leeds, died days after allegedly being kicked unconscious on a busy Leeds street in April.

West Yorkshire Police said David Grabowski, also from Harehills, has been charged with murder and will appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court later today

David Grabowski

Would that be a Polish name....?

Though tens of thousands of people in Yorkshire have Polish surnames without being Polish, so who knows?

It could be a 'Polish on Polish' thing or just a coincidence.

Polish man murdered in Leeds - the latest

And here's the story:

Man kicked to death in Leeds street

A Polish man was kicked and stamped to death in a motiveless attack on a Leeds street by one of his countrymen, a court heard.
Marius Rogowicz, 24, suffered devastating brain injuries after the attack by Dawid Grabowski as he lay defenceless in Harehills Lane.

A court heard Grabowski, 26, then watched as passers-by tried to help him and only fled when the ambulance arrived.

He then went home and boasted about the assault to his mother and sister.....

The guy seems a headcase - all that stuff about "eating ***".

Here's the latest - apparently the guy thought he was a dog.

A paranoid schizophrenic who beat a stranger to death believing they were both dogs in a "sparring" match has been jailed for life.

Polish national Dawid Grabowski, 26, who lived with his family in Meanwood, stamped and kicked fellow countryman Marius Rogiowicz, 24, causing him catastrophic head injuries.

Merged: Racist Abuse towards Poles in Leeds

Channel 4 last night had a report about hate crime and the upturn in racism since the disastrous Brexit referendum

Scary stuff, as the interview was going on a car load of yobs gave the interviewee a bit of abuse.

These one off incidents don't of course show the full story but they are happening more and more.
And as they continue to happen they will also continue to happen here against foreigners.

Thankfully the Poles have nothing against us Irish and wearing a green Irish football/rugby jersey goes a long way, of course speaking the lingo helps a great deal too and I can hold my own in a conversation

If I was that young lady in Leeds, I'd be upping sticks and moving to a nicer neighbour or indeed city; Edinburgh or Belfast or Liverpool

I don't think Leeds is bad at all - it is up and coming and has its good and bad parts. I doubt Liverpool or Belfast are any 'nicer' - especially Liverpool was a scary ----hole last time I was there...

Leeds is OK. The incident happened just off Armley Town Street, one of the more rough and ready, not to say socially deprived bits where quite frankly all sorts happens.

The threads shouldn't be merged though (unless the title changes) since the incident outside the pub in post #17 wasn't a murder, nobody died.
