What's your favorite Polish beer?

Seanus: thanks for pointing my attention at Goolman :-) I don't think I would buy this beer on my own initiative.

Also a good one is Piast, despite its Carlsberg Poland allegiance. £omża is OK- but Perła is probably the best choice on the market (I can say this after a 10-day holiday upon a lake :-)

No worries, Pibwl. It is a classic and VERY underrated beer, IMHO. It is crisp and could even win awards.

Perła Premium is top notch, as is £omża :)

I am just drinking £omża Niepasteryzowana and it is very nice. Not great, mind you, but very good indeed.

If you like Piast, you'll love Piast unpasteurised.

If you like Perla, you'll love Zwierzyniec (from the same brewery).

Anyway, does anybody know which brands of Polish beer get exported besides Tyskie, Lech, Karpacki and that other brand, I forget its name, but you have it in 3 varieties with the heaviest about 10 per thousand alcohol?

I mean I like the first three, the last one is a bit too heavy to my taste, but I want to try a different brand for once here in Ireland.

Zywiec is exported a lot, but opinions differ as to its merits - I find it fizzy, characterless and chemical tasting. Ciechan is sometimes exported; if you find it, try it.

Are you actually serious about Goolman, or just joking? Most tramps in Poland would beg for a few minutes longer in order to buy something better.

Yes indeed, forgot to mention that brand. Had a few of them as well and I agree with you that it's a bit on the fizzy side.

Hello & Greetings from La Crosse, Wisconsin!

I have a bottle of Jurand Extra that I recently purchased in Chicago. I see that on the beer sites Ratebeer.com and beeradvocate.com that the brewery is closed. And I saw on beeradvocate that the brand was purchased by a marketing company. Does anyone in Poland know of this. Opinions?

Tyskie and Tatra

While visiting Poland, I sampled the following 4 beers: Lech, Tyskie, Warka and Zywiec.
Lech beer has my vote.

I still prefer Okocim.Tastes the best for me.

From the commercial beers, it's got to be Lech or Tyskie. But my favourites are either Noteckie Niefiltrowanie (green label), or possibly Rzeskie.

Loving the Radegast at the moment too (albeit Czech).

Has anyone heard that drinking beer through a straw gets you PiS-t really quick and makes you feel aggressive, possibly due to the lack of oxygen? I've seen Polish women doing just this all the time, with no obvious ill effects.

Didn't you know that the straw has a filtering mechanism which increases the strength of the beer threefold? ;)

I've had Lech, Zywieć & Tyskie. Er... a good few times...

I think I preferred Zywieć out of the three. Thought they were all pretty good though really. Drinking Tyskie right now as it happens ; )

Maybe someone can answer this - I ahd a strong beer in Poland and the bottle featured a goats head (I think) with red eyes and the word for strong (begins with M?) in that kind of shattered lettering. It was like a Polish special brew or something - does anyone know what it is?

(As he hopes to fcuk it isn't a cliché alcoholic's beer or something...)

Zubr is the best Polish beer

Żubr represents great value for a 6% beer. However, Perła Premium is lighter and crisper. They are both really good!

Nah, it's really crisp. Trust me, I've tried beer from all over the world. I've been in 21 countries and have tried at least one beer from those countries. Also, I've tried beer from many countries I haven't been to. I can safely say that Goolman has the crispness of many more expensive ones I have tried.
