Cos they were lazy gits who didn't want to get their uniforms dirty (or get a kicking themselves, probably). I don't know if they knew my mate was a Brit but when someone is gtting used as a dance floor by 2 or 3 other guys for no reason I'd have thought it was their job to help.

The Nazis also made this mistake, saying that poles are inferior.

Oh my God! where did you get this shit? learn some history son....

There's a higher probability of this happening now due to current events. It gives some people the perfect, yes you guessed it, PRETEXT.

Sad but true :(

140 previous convictions just says it all. this shitbag should have been locked up and the key thrown away a long time ago.

Regrettably, we have such morons in Aberdeen. Not only a few. I've just heard the Floyd lyric, 'you'll get a chance to put the knife in', listening to Dogs. It really struck it home what he did. It's idiots like that that spark violence between our 2 peoples.

May that guy get put away for a long time. 140 convictions and he is still on the go??? How pathetic our sentencing system has become.

The victim did seem to be mixing with a bit of a rough crowd, but I agree that people like this should be locked up for a very long time. I find it hard to fathom why this doesn't happen.

You're right, it's a scandal. He'll probably get months rather than years.

Stabbing sb in the eye is potentially fatal. Some of the nerves in that area are so sensitive that blindness is not outwith the question. Sorry, just think about it. Could you stab sb in the eye? Maybe, just maybe, in a rage but under normal circumstances most definitely not.

The victim did seem to be mixing with a bit of a rough crowd,

His friend, like quite a few of men in this day and age, visited a prostitute, even the most respectable of men do this! It certainly didn't mean he was mixing with rough types and even if he was, that doesn't make it okay for some animal with 140 convictions to stab him in the eye or anywhere else for that matter!

sb ?

The fact that this guy carried a knife shows he had every intention of using it if he felt the need and to stab someone in the eye is attempted murder.

How he managed to end up on a lesser charge is beyond me.

His friend, like quite a few of men in this day and age

Visiting a prostitute is no big deal, but if a pimp carries a knife, then if there is a "class" of prostitute, this is the bargain-basement.

Regardless, this guy didn't in any way "ask" for what happened.

Lordy lordy, sb is somebody. Are you from a Congolese village, Mr H? Oh, Mr is Mister btw ;)

Well, you are right. In Scotland, we had a major crackdown/clampdown on knives. They have been outlawed solidly for over 15 years now.

It could be one of those judges like the Derby case I read. The judge, to the absolute amazement of the audience, gave the guy a dramatically reduced sentence for rape. Why? Because the guy was from his "lovely" part of the country. LOL, it's a true story.

I was sliced open with a knife on the face, across the eyebrow.
1 centimetre higher and I would have a visible scare, one centimetre lower and I would have been blinded in my right eye.
A long story short about 12 lads surrounded me,
they were punching me in the head and then they suddenly all left,
I thought great!
Until the blood came pouring down my face.
I guess the adrenalin kicked in and I could not feel anything.
This was in Dublin, no foriegners involved, no write ups in the newspaper, no debates, no blaming certain races/groups, in fact nothing happened, I went to hospital and life carried on.

I suppose what I am trying to say is, youz talk some shite.

If I or my attackers were black or Polish, youz would make a big deal.

I haven't mentioned race here, Seanny. I mentioned the ineptitude of our penal system and also the potential severity of the wound. That's all.

The whole thread Rise in race crimes linked to attacks on Poles , is about race, like it or not.
And what about the millions of severe wounds inflicted by millions of people on others and not sensationalized by a group?.

As for the penal system, youz are havin a laugh, there are too many crimes for the penal system to hold.
Build more prisons but don't use our taxes and don't build them in my back garden!.

Of course there are too many crimes. The backlog of cases in the Scottish courts is staggering.

Well, I'll let others answer your questions as I'm not on the race tack. The only thing I might say is that it may have implications for foreigners here but I doubt it.

While in a way it is probably quite good for Poles to be on the receiving end of racism (it might make them question the rampant levels of racism in Poland), in another it is going to be bad for British expats living in Poland when they bump into the Poles who were in Britain and fancy a bit of revenge (not that many expats visit the kind of s--holes where most of those Poles come from).

Racism is a dislike of other races, Harry. It doesn't necessarily mean that you have to attack somebody.

I'm not up on the internet-speak, but thanks for clarifying :-)

What happened to you is a big deal and your attackers should have been punished. You don't mention if you reported it to the police.

As for the penal system, youz are havin a laugh, there are too many crimes for the penal system to hold.

They could live on redundant car-ferries and float in the English channel for all I care. Maybe a few force ten gales might concentrate the mind and give them some time to reflect on their crimes.

I want justice for all, not specific groups. You seem to see violence as an acceptable way of life.

What happened to you is a big deal and your attackers should have been punished.

It happens all the time, I don't think it is a big deal.

Why?.
It would have changed nothing.

I would prefer if the police were busy with other people, people who can't defend themselves.

I want justice for all, not specific groups.

My point is that this thread, is about groups.

reported it to the police.

I should probably explain myself more on this one.

My friends and I have been to he police over more serious fights, went to court and nothing.
That was for being glassed in the face.
You learn what sticks and what doesn't.

I read the papers trying to sell their stories, a Dub being glassed in Dublin = no sales.
Get a Pole or a black man and it becomes a hate crime = sales.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Are you all from sleepy little fishing villages?.
Most cities have their rough areas and violence.

(not that many expats visit the kind of s--holes where most of those Poles come from).

If you turn that on its head.
Poles live in the more dodgy areas because of the cheaper rent, meeting the kind of shitheads that come from the s--holes in Britian.
Just a thought.
