. My husband is locksmith,

Any back street pub in Glasgow ;)

Sorry, I am joking.

Honorata, more information is better. Is it important he has to work in Scotland only?

I'm sure, that if you start a thread, asking for work prospects in Scotland, then you will get more noticed. Hiding your request in this thread, isn't going to help.

And if Honorata is Polish, can someone please explain that to her by private message, please!

Hi Honorata,

I live in Aberdeen, Scotland and we have a large Polish community here. If you want I can help your husband find work, accomodation, etc.

Take no notice of him Honorata

Unfortunatley there are two very offensive brits on here, we just ignore them.

Are you certain you want to come to the UK at this time?

I ask the question because we are about to enter in to the one of the biggest ressions for a long time.

This means work is very uncertain even for us Brits, and further to this the amount of money one can now command for a job is at it's lowest ever rate. Coupled with house prices including rental being at it's highest it has ever been.

Prospects are not good at this time, especially if spoken English is not so good.

Having said that a locksmith is a good trade and is in demand here, however most work for themselves and run their own businesses.

Not sure what the pay might be for an employee.

Are you coming also or is it just your husband?

My advise would be get the job first then look for the accomadatiion, as the work will dictate where you live.

The south of England is better for work than the north however the accomdation costs are much more.

Self contained accomidation for the both of you could be as much as between 650-850 stirling per month.

I do know Poles who work and live here as couples and can bearly make ends meet even though the husband has a good paying job and the wife has two jobs, workig unsociable hours, they never see each other.

The next two years will be even harder for all in the UK the the last two.

I am not trying to put you off, just painting a realistic picture.

Kind regards

Lynda.
