Anti-Polish sentiment of England

its difficult I do agree.

Not too much. I try to base my opinions on a person individually. I have friends of many races and feel we are all equal. I guess I'm trying not to be the one to say 'I don't have any prejudice' but I can't think of any I consciously hold at present.

In growing up, under the influence of family and friends, prejudices had been passed onto me and it took a while for me to see for myself how wrong it was. But when the ages of sense came [as I like to believe they did a while ago] I learned for myself that we are all the same, as you say:

any animal is capable of turning on you
at any given moment even in the deepest times of trust.

I saw that what I had been brought up to think was not what I wanted to think as a person - it grated at my conscience and at my own developing sense of right and wrong.

same here.. it was mostly my dad, but also his father who had these views.

I knew they were wrong..it is what were taught.. because as babies we dont know
anything about color or different skin until we are older and taught it.

Exactly :) Sad to say a LOT of people in my family are very prejudiced in many ways. Some of them quite racist. None to the point of acting anything out, but to any point is hard to take at times.

I'm happy not to have continued with their opinions as my own.

I'm happy not to have continued with their opinions as my own.

you know. my grandfather I think was like that because when they arrived in
America, they had so much to deal with then, it was fueled hatred, because they
were struggeling to become a part of the polish community, on top of worry for their
families back in poland, forced integration ( this was planned by local govts too)
with other minority groups such as hungarian, Italian,etc.. which back then were so
seperated.. no one was allowed to mix and marry ( hungarian with Polish) etc.

so when my dad was born, by then it eased up a bit, but then they dealt with
a new onset of problems involving the communities.. and it was more of a rich vs
poor. how much money do you have type of problems..

and the kids from my fathers neighborhood all were clothed the best they could.
they didnt have the money and saved what money they had/made and the
economy just crashed.

then me growing up. my dad would say things, but I would just look at him like thats
not very nice of you to say, ( but never said it out loud to him or risk getting my dupa
kicked ) LOL...

People will always fear what they do not understand, and this fear will always be exploited by the powers that be. Slavery is official gone though in practise economic slavery is very much alive, the capitalist system which uses " any means neccessary, will always encourage racist ideology because it maintains the status quo and again is a blind, a distraction from the main game, which is the economic struggle of the classes.
To have rich people you needed to have poor people. Blimey I must come across as a Marxist!!

when answering a thread I would advise reading it first especially though who you insult. One I don't think he is Polish and two whether his racist or not is not obvious. Again, what constitutes a racist?

Did you mean, stereotype?
Just like you stereotype all Americans as fat and stupid?
You've got a lot of nerve labeling anyone "high horse". The English are arrogant clowns.. Any one of them I've ever met was like this.. Usually Not Poles, Not Slovaks, not even the Germans.. The hell with England and it's little island. Constantly preaching about Kyoto or whatever the hell.

BTW.. Thanks for leaving us in Iraq. Better not ever need a "loan" again limey.. and you know what I mean.

I've got alot of nerve? Rich, I was down an American Airbase at the weekend and I got along with everyone just fine, If you constantly feel that no-one likes you...its not because your American...it really is just you.

Have the best day ever.

I must honestly say, from my own long experience, that the English are among the very best nicest people I've ever met. Kind and good-hearted beyond measure. Often a bit rough on the surface, but it's just a defense mechanism; once they get to know you and see you're on the same wavelength as them, they open up to you and you see so much sweetness and gentleness you may feel overwhelmed. Such are really those allegedly arrogant English. Yes, many foreigners seem to take this perfunctory raughness for arrogance, but it's a mistake on their part. I think the English should not be called 'limeys' but 'pineapples:' rough surface and lots of sweetness underneath.

I have similar warm feelings towards the Irish, but it's another story.

Alot of people are against everyone in england, not just poland.

Thats minority though. Most english will question it at first, but once you know them it'll be like your their best friend.

They, (the septic tanks) call us "Limey's" because our Royal Navy ate limes to combat scurvy and vit' C deficiancy, something that tore through the amature time USN like wildfire, only to be resolved once the Scotsman John Paul Jones formed the "modern" USN........sorry,but you guys really do owe most of your "culture/civilisation" to these "little islands" and thats something most americans are highly aware of hence silly little outbursts like those displayed by "dumb yankee71", most Americans however are fine, upstanding folks with more than cotton candy between their ears.

(ps, the film Master and Commander was origionally going to be about the RN sinking a USN ship in the 1812 war, but we didnt want to embaress you guys with memories of burning White Houses :) )
