A thought on Poland!

Could I please ask people who have not suffered at the hands of the Germans/Russians not to make silly comments on things they do not know or never experienced.
It may be ok for people who have not experienced the terror of those times to say lets move on, but for those people who have suffered forgiveness is a tough call.
Please do not insult those Polish people who have suffered and are still suffering.

get the fuk over it already... poland has a new start and a bright future... leave the past where it belongs or itll taint the future...

I'm caught unawares by your comment BubbaWoo, are you Polish and do you speak on behalf of the Polish people?

i was suprised at your comment to P, lef - it looks as tho you are re-enforcing the stereotypical image of polish victim mentality and a love of moaning...

the longer poland wallows in its past the slower it will move into its future...

The poles are smart enough to move on and make it happen, I might add the poles are highly educated and given the right environment would do very well. They are more up to it than the British and Australians will ever be.

There is a grieving process, and as they say let the wounds heal slowly

by all means... but dont keep picking them open or they will never heal... let the new generation, the generation born into freedom, make up their own minds about the world without the older generations pressing their past prejudices onto them...

Once again your not getting the point, Its ok for you a english lord to say that, but how can you say a person who has gone through the horrors of WW2 is prejudiced. what nonsense.

The fact remains that the Germans and Polish people will never trust each other and in many cases still hate each other.
Sorry Bubba you lost me on this one.

Germans and Polish people

who are you to talk in the name of the german and polish people !!!! you dont even live here !!! the botton end is Poland still need the Russians for the gaz and still need the german for the investments . so the poles will have to get over the war becouse they need the germans and russians and they can not dont have the resources to play at the same level as the germans ~. and that is the true take or not .
BubbaWoo  33 | 3502

i dont want to diminish the horros people went thru in the past by any means... i just want to reiterate what SG said earlier (albeit in a slight more forceful way) -

"Focus on hate and anger, and they will grow. Focus on life, and you move forward"

The fact remains that the Germans and Polish people will never trust each other and in many cases still hate each other.

this is sad lef... and poland doesnt have the monopoly on anger and upset at germany... other countrys suffered too... and are leaving that in the past where it belongs... poland has entere3d a new chapter in its history and have a new generation to take it foward... i just think it is sad if the hate and anger goes forward with them, and i dont think it has to...

Sorry Bubba you lost me on this one.

thats cool lef... i hear what you are saying...

and that is the true take or not .

You obviously don't mix with people who earn 1500zl a month in Poland and have seen there dreams gone because of this so call investment in Poland, the only people who prosper is the multi nationals and greedy speculators..

just think it is sad if the hate and anger goes forward with them, and i dont think it has to...

I think the sad and anger is probally gone, the fact is that Poland and German people have nothing in common.. you should know this by your own experiences.

believe me i do - i mix with people of all ages and from all backgrounds... i have good friends who have *missed the boat* for whatever reason and some of whom survive on sums so small i cant fathom it...

but others are working for their future... are doing more than surviving and happy about where they are going...

the fact is that Poland and German people have nothing in common.. you should know this by your own experiences.

from my perspective they do have things in common... not least that i have met very good people in both countries...

lef... how long have you been in OZ... when were you last in Poland and/or Germany and how long did you spend there...?

sure when it comes to money and business absolutely, always remember Poland is a Catholic country it has survived over a thousand years of Christianity and will continue to do so. Its values lies not in commercialism, it is more aligned to values of the Christian faith. Pardon me if I am wrong but Poland has never been a capitalist society, more a social democratic institution.

Poles will never allow for a capitalist type government. Lets wait and see.
Never underestimate the Polish people.

Pat, you may want to enlighten me and provide some facts of those" German people who helped in the war"....I'm listening!

myhero.com/myhero/hero.asp?hero=Museum_Jews_AP

theres alot more, but I dont have time all day to enlighten you when you can go
find it yourself..

now that you made yourself look like a azz.. which isnt hard for you.. maybe you can
stop trying to put down my intelligence.. I am here to learn like anyone else
but not only do I know some things.. but I also have cousins who had good
experiences with Germans. and so that gives me some idea that there were
still humans who saw past the Reich and what it was about and did what they
needed to do .

The fact remains that the Germans and Polish people will never trust each other and in many cases still hate each other.

(People learn to hate and be prejudice....it's not something we are born with)

You have some choice in what you do with those feelings. Focus on hate and anger, and they will grow. Focus on life, and you move forward.
Excellent Point!!!!!

(I have to add this: I wasted one year of my life being angry and bitter at something someone had done. I was consumed. It made me physically sick. Then one day I realized it was only me who was keeping myself locked in the anger. I was the one who suffered by being angry/bitter. I will not ever do that again.)

As I think we all, to some degree have let anger get the best of us during some point in our lives (been there myself and know too well that physical sickness it produces).....Glad you learned a valuable life lesson, SG.....just wish everyone could (for their own happiness and sanity).

because he was german, it was because he pushed your friend.. so the german
part had nothing to do with the fact that this guy was a A_HOLE.. theres good in
every nation.. this has to be something people "individuals* come to terms with
because its really stupid to keep the anger flowing!! I know your smarter then those
people who want to keep the anger going right G :)

Well, Where is Lef's Smart retort??

I know you miss my comments on this forum, sometimes you know you just have to shake the dust off your feet and walk away, firstly I was having a conversation with Lord BubbaWoo about Polish/German relations. A serious topic and what I have stated stands. What Polish people need to understand that the German nation has never had much respect for the polish culture and all they are doing now is bleeding Poland dry, The Germans interest in Poland is to make money at the expense of Poland and buy as much land which formed part of the German empire prior to the war. As I mentioned elsewhere the Germans are a very intelligent race, and what they produce or export (ie cars, food, clothing) equals the best. (I'm not anti German)

Your response to my comments Pat, is like a charge from the US 3rd Cavalry, you always have Ranj your faithful Lieutenant at your side and ready to insult... mmmmm

Got that right :)) my monsterous hours are from 2 am to 10 am

Bring on the tea!!!!

Excuse me????? Could you please enlighten me and point out where I insulted you?

He cant Ranj that is the point..he asked me for proof and he waited ( not long I
might add) and I provided it, and he tried the ole psycology bit with I was talkin
to bubba.. and LT Ranj bit.. just another way of avoiding saying that for once
he was wrong.. which is ok to admit when your Wrong.. " once in a while"

me and you stick up when it comes to the American bashing, so hes using that as
his tool to avoid the real reasons..

so his Patrycja bashing was unwarranted, Its ok lef.. I forgive you.. sometimes.
as for me not respecting Poland , thats where you are dead wrong. as I have
clarified many times over in many posts..

Very good point, P......he also evaded BW's question a couple days ago when he was asked the last time he was in Poland or Germany......it only asked for a simple answer, yet apparently he had to "go out" so he didn't have time to say, "I was there last month" or "last year" or "I spent five of the last six years in these places."

Oh well, I don't give much creedence anymore to what Lef has to say (actually, I never really did....oh well).

Been away for a while and read your post, can I firstly give my unreservedly apology to you and anybody else on this forum who I may have offended. Sorry. In a way its all part of the fun when you belong to a forum of this nature. You have to understand that I am a larrikin at heart (most aussies are) and don't take things to heart.

I do feel for the polish people however and love to see them enjoy the stardards of life as we enjoy here, catcha later.

It's rather that WWII was the first war really totally captured on film...that was a first and makes it so special and so lingering.

I doubt that the misery of WWII was more cruel than the misery of every other war...but the cruelties of the thirty years war or the roman enslavement of whole
peoples can't as easy be seen and experienced as watching newsreels from WWII...so that impresses more I think...

The thing that makes WWII so special isn't TV or the numbers of people that died. It's the fact that in modern times, in the middle of Europe, the continent that can be called the cradle of western civilization, members of a nation that contributed so much to the humanity were building death factories where there were killing fellow human beings as if they were animals and producing soap from them. It didn't happen in ancient times. It didn’t happen in Africa. That's why WWII is so special.

re: producing soap from them

- Matt, it seems that the soap story was just a piece of propaganda. No real proof the story was true. The Germans did various things during WWII, but rather not the aforementioned soap.
