But Americans are happy, they have a different attitude towards life than Poles

True, they have only one thing on their mind.. money money money, a great attribute!

They are more honest than they are in Poland.

Hmmm.. lets not throw mud on every Polish person and assume every Polish person is a thief and dishonest.
Let me say there are more honest people living in Poland today than there are honest people living in the USA.. (now thats got you thinking)

There may be postal thefts in the Polish Mail system, which is uncommon in the US, wow big deal, it doesn't pay for a US postal worker to steal as it doesn't pay a US policeman to take a 20$ bribe, not worth it, The thief in the US has his sights set on the bigger pie, ie corporate fraud, internet fraud, credit card and other scams, thats where the money is.

If people are silly enough to send cash in the mail system knowing full well it is not secure, well suffer the consequences!

I'm thinking, I'm thinking...

while your at it, how much items are pilfered at supermarkets and shops in the US? Can I suggest about 3-5% of all goods!!! Does that mean all Americans are thieves?

next youll be telling me they go to the uk for the food and the weather... be real

I don't know what that has to do with the price of eggs in China! The weather and food in the UK is pretty basic. The same question could be put to you: What are you doing in Poland? Get real.

- Not as much as Americans.

next youll be telling me they go to the uk for the food and the weather... be real

- Didn't you know that? They go to UK because there's unemployment in Poland.

What are you doing in Poland? Get real.

- He says he's in Poland because 'fun' is cheaper there than in England or America.

They call these people freeloaders then! Should be a law against it!!!

I'm generalizing lef. You're right. There are greedy thiefs everywhere. But living in Poland and in Us I noticed some differences. They use bribes more in Poland.

Kids cheat in Polish schools, in US they can expell and punish such students.
You bribe Polish professors to accept a student. Bribing in some US jobs is illegal.
Money talks.

No more than anywhere else.. (never heard of cheating in Polish schools)

In the US and Oz only the rich have the chance of higher education, at least in Poland higher education is cheap.

I've noticed a big difference in the attitude of younger police in Poland, they are more professional and dedicated, if you were to offer a bribe, they would just laugh at you, a big change to what was occurring back in previous years.

Its all happening in Poland Krysia, praise the Lord and pass the sauce :>))))

- This one is a rough English 'cwaniak,' and not fond of Poland and Poles at all. And I once called this type 'friend of Poland and Poles.' Shame on me.

- Like fewer thieves in US than in Poland?

There are many like BubbaWoo in Poland today, half his luck what he does, undoubtedly there are Poles in GB who have exploited the system and are freeloading there!!

I honestly believe that native Poles will not deal with Irish/British real estate salesmen, they prefer there own. We are yet to see what tricks the Sub Prime Mortgage crisis in the US has in Poland? With a low US dollar home prices can only go in one direction.

No, I have heard that Polish police are very corrupt and it still depends on bribes. I have an English friend, married to a Polish woman and they returned by car to Poland, as they often do and he was stopped for speeding. He was given a choice, either pay thirty dollars, or however much it was, as I do not remember now, up front to the policeman, or pay a much heftier fine. The Poles accept anything, they lie and lie and lie. Never be so naive. The Puzzler for example, does not even know the difference between oczu and oczów! In Poland, trust no one.

Polish police are very corrupt

When i first arrived in Poland i was not used to having to carry all my documents on me when driving my car or riding my motorcycle...Before i got used to doing this i must have been stopped about five times , and i did not have my documents on me...The police were quite within their rights to fine me money for my ignorance , but none of them ever did....They told me i must carry my documents at all times , told me how much the fine was , and then sent me on my way without any penalty...maybe its because i am English , they wanted to give a good impression , maybe they were just nice guys , but i have no complants about the Polish police.....

Hmmm, that may have occurred during the communist period, I have always found Polish Police helpful and trying to do the right thing.. by the way Michal, do yourself a favour and revisit Poland, things have changed in the last 30 years. (if you can't afford the cost, perhaps you may ask this forum to start up a collection...lol)

or loans so everyone has a chance to study.

or loans hmmm. nothing for nothing hey, in Poland its for nothing... well Krysia...hmmm

The Puzzler for example, does not even know the difference between oczu and oczów!

- Ad now the Orwellian piggy pretending-to-be-English and expert on the Polish language is using a blatant lie - accusing somebody of a shameful deed that the piggy itself has done. The piggy once wrongly used the form of the Polish word: 'oczy' (eyes), Puzzlerek ridiculed the piggy for that, and the disgraced piggy is now oinking that it's Puzzi who used the word wrong. The piggy counts that every one in this forum has already forgotten piggy's post with the error and so they can be easily brainwashed into believng what piggy repeatedly tells them (according to Goebbels' rule that a lie repeated ten times becomes truth). That's the way the Orwellian kosher piggies are. Shoulod you ever trust them?

:)
PS, I'll be keeping a close eye now on the piggy's antics in the Polish language section, and pointing its total ignorance of the Polish language.

How does Poland imagine other countries see her?

It depends on what persons...
Some think it's a Central European country. Warsaw is the capital city, and the president is Lech Kaczyński, and the PM Donald Tusk.

Others may think that it's a far away country, up in the North, where it snows most part of the year and where penguins usually meet Poles at the supermarkets. People live in igloos, and go fishing for a living. LoL

I have friends who think i'm a Viking (because of my physical appearance), so, what about Poland : Viking land... :) Actually, many people do think that...

I view Poland as a country with a lot to learn interms of quality of life. The simplist tasks are transformed into the most difficult legal issues involving lawyers and notary acts.

My Polish wife always told me that people in Poland become nervous before attanding meetings and I was like "cant be that bad". After living here and experiencing offices first hand "it is that bad" theres always a problem of some discription.

I don't mind starting the ball rolling by giving the first zlote, I might say also Michal your views on Poland (mostly negative) are those that were broadcasted by Radio Free Europe and Voice of America in those bad Communist times ie in the 50's. ;>))
