A friend murdered in Poland; what the Polish police can do?

I've just received an email my friend was murdered outside of a Warsaw night club in Poland. :( He was quite rich, drove a great car (he wasn't a criminal or something like that though). I was wondering what are the chances the Polish police will find the murderer/s. Is it common rich people are the target in Poland? Possibly gun and knife were used, but not sure...

I am trying to find an online Polish paper to see if this is in the news there to see online, but all I can find quickly is this site, on which I have seen nothing by searching using Warsaw murder nightclub, etc. But maybe if you put in his name and the date, you could find something:

thenews.pl

And you could register for The Warsaw Voice online and see if anything is in that online paper.

I am sorry for your loss.

It depens on if you flaunt it or not. Poor guy though and his family. I had someone in my family murdered and its not an easy thing to accept

Im not exactly sure if it was in Warsaw - maybe near Warsaw. But the clubs name was "Joannas Club" or something like that.

Kranzler people get murdered in every country. Its a fact of life, there is no reason for you to be more worried in Poland than you are in your own country. Im a foreigner in Poland and havent experienced any problems because of it. I think this would be fair to say its a pretty rare event.

Don't sweat it. You'll be fine. I've never had any problems...except in Chłopy with a small gaggle of drunken PL teens. But that wasn't a major issue.

What do the Poles consider to be rich?

Don't worry about that........But, Just like anywhere don't flash money.

if you flaunt your wealth then beware because you are asking for trouble. if you throw around cash, wear expensive jewlerey, live in a exclussive house, drive BMW or Mercedes then you become a target to rob.

Thats the same in any country including england. If you live in a poor area and your house is massive with a mercedes parked outside, the poor people WILL rob you.

I've noticed that people in Poznan are a lot richer than those who live out in the countryside

That's my thinking too. It's not a "Polish phenomenon", however - in all countries or different parts of the city you can experience that.

When I go to Poland, the last thing I would do would be to "show I have money." Too many people from different countries may take advatage of that, so why take risk.

He was probably unfortunatly in the wrong place at the wrong time.

or maybe there is more to the story, dont get scared away from things like this
because it can happen in the town you live in now.

The one thing everyone should be is not so flashy, which I have seen people flaunt
here in America, its stupid, it only invites trouble, and the way I see it, as long as
you keep your business to yourself , then you will be fine.

and ciss, so sorry to hear about what happened to your friend, in any case, I do hope
they find out who did it and the family gets some closure. my prayers to the family

This is normal for some areas of the country. It's a little different where new-builds are concerned.

Re: Murder.
You will find it very difficult to find a witness to a crime in Poland. Even in a crowded street.

Is there a reason for that?

The police here aren't known for their manners or respect for the law, unfortunately.

It is not only in Poland like that. Last year my friend (from Poland) worked in London (Bristol). She was raped and murdered. Live is cruel wherever we are, unfortunately.

Good point. If English. There might be details in a local English paper.
