But now it's another time anyway....

And Germany is president of the EU....what better opportunity for the country to show the world that it is positive and progressive....concerned for the welfare of all....

Let's wait and see how she does with all this.....

Maybe, but there was a compliment implied in there as well....

Maybe SG, its a touchy subject in the UK, we dont want our soliders out there, we dont want anyone out there....Its not our war and why are we involved because of Blairs ass lickin with Bush! There have been attempted bombings in the UK - 2 in the last week and why because of our involvement in this farce....

and GB lost their empire...

Exactly what Hitler had forecast that would happen at the end of the war whoever won.
But Churchill refused to cooperate with him and save the empire. This caused Hitler's desperation who offered parts of the empire to Soviet Union but Stalin had different plans.

What is the latest update?

(Do you know that I heard about that here on this forum, before it hit the media here?)

british propaganda from a "belligerent", "warmongering" german nation...making trouble "since ages"....but we all know better, don't we!

You need better PR people :)

I dont understand why we are arguing about this, we are in peace time now and have been for over 60 years. As far as I am aware the English bare no ill feeling towards the Germans.

re: That is really interesting..you are demonizing so easily Germany and the Germans

- Perhaps it may appear so from some of my posts. But, truly, I have also lots of admiration for German culture and history. I know your literature and philosophy quite well. Bach is my most beloved composer. I admire you as soldiers. I admire your aesthetic sense. Truly, I value highly the good things in Germany and Germans. And I regret that our two nations have been so adverse towards one another for such a long time. In spite of some great similarities between us. In spite of the fact that many German immigrants became loyal Polish citizens, and many Poles melted with the German mainstream.

re: but are quite generous to others who were even more prone to use their armed forces to get what they wanted

- Well, they never invaded us (except for the Russians, but , frankly speaking, we Poles despise them - and we don't despise the Germans). Well, perhaps you've got a point here.

I'm sure I sound like a doofus, but my ex had a problem with alcohol for awhile, so for a long time I did not drink, ever......

It's nice now to be able to have some of the things I missed during that time... :)

Did they have forgotten that it was Germany who paved their way into the EU?

No, but they remember, that Germany did that ONLY because it was in favour of Germany.

Don't they know that much of the money which will build up Poland in the coming years is german money???

They do, but they also know, how much Poland will have to pay back as netto-paying state.

All above arguments, often replied in Germany, are just FALSE.

BTW. BB - your, and your countrymen, anti-Polish attitude if far enough to make us afraid of German hegemony in the EU.

El Gamal, take it easy. Bratwurst Boy is a nice guy, only a bit rough on the edges. If more Germans are like him, we're going to get along. You can talk with him honestly, and that's something good indeed.

Cheers.

Germans didn't even make it in the list concerning most disliked nationalities by Poles (Arabs, Gypsies and Romanians placed highest in that ranking)

I was wondering if you could tell me where you got that statistic from

In spite of some great similarities between us. In spite of the fact that many German immigrants became loyal Polish citizens, and many Poles melted with the German mainstream.

* does double take *!!

its a miracle!!

puzzler, you allege that people from poland and germany actually melted with the
german mainstream ? Prove it :))))

What's so difficult to prove? - They have lots of people there with surnames ending with 'ski.' Take the brilliant footballer Podolski. Even one of Hitler's favourite secretaries had such surname, alas. In Canada, though, one's name ending with 'ski' is often as a disliked characteristic as the black skin or 'slanted eyes' used to be. I wonder if it's the same in Germany? From my experience, it isn't, but then again, I haven't travelled there extensively, so maybe my conclusion is based on insufficient number of facts? Do you feel instant aversion towards folks whose surnames end with 'ski,' Butty?

:)
