It was Great Britain and France who did build up huge empires through war, not Germany!

Yes its true we ruled over foreign lands, and yes we had our empire, it was more to do with trade routes and such like, Im not ashamed of it, im proud that my country was so great - "Great Britain" , we didnt sit about bi*tching we got on with business :)

you forgot to mention the Dutch, they to had their empire too.

Shopgirl, as far as I know the Gazeta Wyborcza did. You should see Lepper's reaction!!! He almost dropped dead from outrage; he was red on the face; he kept on assuring he loved his wife and that she was beautiful (you should see her!!!)... And when Lepper starts going on, no one can stop him, and he's, well, a bit like a certain Gemini guy (with nick starting with 'p') from this Forum.... I almost died laughing. :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

As for the great British Empire, I agree with what George Orwell said about it: that it wasn't the worst empire in history. Actually, I think it was the greatest.

Yes, they did too...and I'm not interested to make you feel bad about your past.
Germans and Brits weren't natural enemies, we even fighted together against the French.
But somehow all that got buried in the history of WWII....

Actually, I think it was the greatest.

That is really interesting..you are demonizing so easily Germany and the Germans but are quite generous to others who were even more prone to use their armed forces to get what they wanted?

Shopgirl, they've alleged he molested sexually a woman from his party

This woman gained some certain advantages by that. There was also a fruit of this relationship. And another minister was served the same benefit.

Actually, I think it was the greatest.

You are exposed now. After all it was not a polish empire.

Dutch, they to had their empire too.

Everybody had colonies even Belgium. The germans lost theirs after WW1.
Look what happens now where there was the british empire.Israel,Cyprus,Iraq,South Africa,Sudan,Somalia,Pakistan. There is civil war in every territory.British had a certain system of division and control.

It was until the British took over.Sometimes the Dutch resisted.Have you heard of the Boers war?

It was India, lets get it right.

When the British left, war followed between India and Pakistan and there is still tension between the two countries.Bangladesh was a part of Pakistan that became independant. In Nepal there is civil war and the country was invaded by India in the past.

yes

Southern are you trying to give an English person a history lesson on their Empire ...lol

South Africa became british gradually over 19th century,Dutch having to move to Rodesia where the British came as well and then the wars started.First defeat for the empire by the bold dutch.

Southern is a citizen of the world...probably born in one country, educated in another, and has likely lived/traveled all over. So it doesn't really matter that much where he is from.....in my belief. :)

The British are and will always be one the the best nations in the world, lets face it we owned a 1/3 of the world at one point! And everyone seems to want to live in the UK!

re: Germans and Brits weren't natural enemies, we even fighted together against the French.
- Germans and Brits weren't enemies as long as Germany didn't tip the balance of power in Europe, in the times preceding WWI. When you did, the Brits came down on you like a ton of bricks. And this time they and the French fought against you. The Germans seem not to understand the role that Britain has been playing in Europe since the 18th century: keeping the balance of power, not allowing any continental country to grow too aggressive and powerful. That's why they hit hard Napoleon's France (even if many Brits liked Napoleon) and then the Keiser's and Hitler's Germany. In spite of the fact that Hitler actually did try to tempt the Brits with the prospect of ruling the world together. They didn'ty buy it. :)

re: But somehow all that got buried in the history of WWII....

- And WWI. And probably it will get buried even deeper if Germany tries to get stupid once again.

Curious! When Germans would say that they would get "Nazis" hurled at them....it's no fair! *snif*

I do not speak about the soldiers but about the british administration in Basra. They have probably managed to keep Iraqis more quiet than the US authorities. This means that they made a lot better impression and used more effectively the means of occupation.Maybe british diplomats have reached some agreements with some leaders there,I do not know.

The Germans seem not to understand the role that Britain has been playing in Europe since the 18th century:

Oh...we understand quite well...just people who think for example Germany was the lone guilty for WWI would buy all that british propaganda from a "belligerent", "warmongering" german nation...making trouble "since ages"....but we all know better, don't we!

But now it's another time anyway....Germany is re-unificated and more powerful than ever and GB (and France) lost their empire...

Brat, what must be done to get this little chip off your shoulder? :)

Hey...it's not me who is coming with "Nazi" all the time...even my avatars get attacked!!! :(
