yes, he was a citizen, so she got a green card really fast (a couple of months), then she applied for 10 years green card, and now she is doing the paper work to get her citizenship... and they are still together :)

If arriving on fiance visa you get in 3 months. If marrying an illegal alien it takes longer because they have to do a background check on you, file more paperwork all which was already done on the fiance visa. And once they get a green card, it is good for only 2 years, called a "conditional permamnet resident card" which you have to carry with you all the time. And after that you apply for a permanent card.

When married you become citizen after 3 years years, otherwise it's 5 years.

yes, that is true... she was illlegaly already here, he was a citizen... we had a program in TX called DORA (it's not valid anymore) and she got her permanent visa after 2 years .... but even she was illegal, the INS didn't make a big deal out of it....

yes, aaranged marriages are actually the rule, not the exception, especially in the country. what's more, in Poland if you are a forreigner and a man wants to marry you he has the right to take away your passport (new statute) and keep you against your will. be warned.

it would not be legal under the eyes of god. if she loves you then it is worth getting married. do not be used. there are plenty of women in the us.

i think the americans who once were also immigrants in this land should recognise their roots, this idea to marry for papers is wrong,

however this is a definite problem in our society, in the uk there are many people fom latin america and south asia who are illegal and are having relations with girls or guys from new member states for this sole reason - to have a british passport, this is not fair on anyone. i think collectively we should stop this

when people get married, the last thing they worry about is a higher power or even care if there is one.

you seem to like to maline Christians, so in this statement you are very wrong, God had everything to do wih my marriage. Actually I am I have 8 yrs of Biblical studeis and a degree to show for it, so I am an expert, and you are?? Just uniformed, i noticed you ignored my facts on ministies in all these countries helping all the starving children.

Let me ask you.. since there is no God, what are you doing to help these starving children, since you can gripe and complain, tell me how much money do you send, or when was thelast time you fed a complete stranger, or went out and handed out blankets to the poor to keep them warm, and when was the last time you bought groceries for someone, other than your own family or friends, when oh when have you helped a complete stranger.

i am against using religion when someone asks a question. they are not asking god, but other members here. they can go to church if they want to get preached to.

Maybe so we all could strive to be a little more like "him" instead of expecting to be handed Utopia on a silver platter. God did not create the problems of the world.....we humans managed to do that all by ourselves......perhaps we should be accountable and try to fix them ourselves too......just a thought!:)

so if we strive to be more like him, we will allow people to kill in our name, have affairs, let people starve, die slowly of some disease, wage wars and so on.

if there is a higher power, everything we have done wrong can be laid at his feet, the higher power could of stopped it dead cold.

Why should he stop it when it is our mess.....I believe the duck said it before....we have free will....we can choose to do all these things or we can be responsible for our actions and do the next right thing.......let me share my own experience....I'm the youngest in my family and whenever I did something stupid, someone was always there to bail me out, either financially or emotionally......even after my parents died, my brothers and sister did the same thing......I was 28 years old before I realized I could actually take care of myself and my own problems and that was a great feeling. For sometime I held resentments towards my family because they slowed the process down for me to grow up......then I realized, I was the one who allowed it to begin with and I ended up being the one to change it.....are my siblings still there for me? Absolutely, although now it's not because I need them to "fix" my problems. Life is so much sweeter when we can correct our own wrongs or when we accomplish something through our own hard work.....maybe that is what god wants us to experience and feel?
