I forget the name. Not sure if it's still open, it was new in the summer, but may have been a flash in the pan. There are a few others in Sopot: sixty9, Niebieski Kot (been going for a while - allways empty when we've been), and one called Enterpub, which is apparently quite good.

There's also a new one in Gdańsk starówka.

Gay life in Poland is excellent as long as you are heterosexual.

Hi all

I had to throw something funny here as I was giggling thinking about it when I read this topic.

My dad still has Polish friends who don't speak English very well, and he's quite good with English and jokes. His favourite game is when he introduces them to his Aussie colleagues saying "This is Jurek etc...etc..." and he finishes by saying "I'm happy, he's gay", while dad's poor mate is busy smiling, nodding and shaking hands, oblivious to what it actually means. To actually see it happen is an absolute cracker!

Cheers, Dan

In fact, yes, since I'm not a Pole (by birth anyway!) and I have a fine solution.

Your only option is to find somebody else who will willingly work behind bars, in pizza restaurants, call centres, security firms; and all for minimum wage.

With the only proviso that that when you find such a nationality, you won't moan about tham either. I expect you'll have to look for quite some time!

I suspect homos will do that if you provide them extra service.

Does that mean polish people live in fear (closet) or the lifestyle is not tolerated by the general public. Most countries around the world have come to be more liberal, why is it that the Poles havent caught up with the rest of the free world?

Well in most cases Poles live is fear not from the general public but from their families, especially the grandparents, the old fashioned members. My cousin came out 2 years ago that she's gay. Everyone know but our grandmother. She was afraid of coming out because she feared how our grandma would take it.

Most countries what???? dude come on. Being gay you're still looked down upon in most places in the world. I'm sure all of Africa welcomes gays, not to mention Asia. Eastern Europeans love gays too... come on. You're a fool. You started with a great question, but then took a cheap and very ignorant jab at Poland. Not cool man.

Benek's right. Things are similar in most of the world (some of the east Asian countries have a different way of looking at sexuality, but not all of them).

The biggest factor in Poland is the strenghth of the family - excellent in nearly every way, not so good if there's potential for conflict.
