Hi! All,

I'm about to move to poland szczecin. But I don't have much idea about poland. I'm a muslim black guy from asia 23 years old. I read some post about racism in poland. I'm really afraid now. Is it really a safe place for an asian black? My salary is about 750 euro per month - net. Is it enough for a single person in poland? How much accomendation would cost and what types of accomendation is available for a single person - I don't want to share bed or room? Anyone from szczecin - I'm really afraid and clueless? Thanks.

Hi.

Is it really a safe place for an asian black?

How can you be both asian and black ?

There have been black people in southern Iran for a couple of hundred years.
Some Asian people (certainly in the UK) describe themselves as black (as in non-European or Oriental).

There is not much familiarity with people of different hues in Poland.
I'd hope that most people wouldn't think it a problem.

Hi there friends! Oh, I don`t know if I`m posting ok here. Let me tell you my story. I live in Targoviste-Romania, and the salary here are beyond any limit.. 500 RON/month (~500 zl) and the mentality are so low.. :( sad. So my though is now, to go abroad and work, to colect some money and to begin realise my dreams step by step. My first choise is Poland/ I have a friend there. I meet her online, and talking with her for 8 months. She propose to stay at her place (live with parents) for a while, `till I get a good job to rent a room somewhere else. She live in Szczecin city. I want to know the average paying in this city for a boy 22 yo, no kids, good knowledge of english and just begin to learn a little polish :) What kind of jobs can I found there? and what paying? Tell me if it is really necessary to learn polish.

Dziekuje!

Studio apartment in Szczecin would start at around 300 euro/month plus your utilities - about 25 euro. Your salary would be around good average for this town. The least paid jobs are here about 400 euro/month

What kind of jobs can I found there? and what paying? Tell me if it is really necessary to learn polish.

not speaking polish would certainly limit your options for employment, don't really know what to advice you. If you are into manual hard work in say shipyards you'd be making around 700 euro. Distributing flyers on street pays about 15 euro a day (not sure how many hours). Room renting starts at 125 euro/month.

I live in Szczecin myself, this town is quite alive in spring - summer and goes into some kind of freeze in winter (not due to weather which is mild in winter).

(...) there are many smaller towns around Szczecin where live is less expensive, some have good transportation to the city. Stargard Szczecinski is only 30 min away by train with population of 70 000 to give one example.

cheers from szczecin

Thank you Kowalski for your answer!
Some questions more:
There are some local sites for jobs where u can apply with a cv ? Especially in english if there are. I want to look over them.

125 Euros is one room / studio flat ?
Thnx!

p.s: there is some Romanian Ambassy in Szczecin?

I don't know any local job sites in English. Maybe this link could help if you're into finding companies in your field of work.

polandbusinessnetwork.pl/companies/

as for rooms: for 125 euro you should find room to rent with shared kitchen/bathroom;
studio apartment from 350-400/month; one bedroom apartments (two rooms, kitchen, bathroom) start around 500 euro

nearest Romanian consulate in Gdynia (5hrs by train)

Oh. Good answers. I don`t know how to thank you for all this.
I`ll make the trip on 13 of august so in 3 weeks. I`ll fly from Bucharest to Berlin Schönefeld airport. I understand that this airport is about 20 km from Berlin. Is there any transportation from that airport to Szczecin? Or if I`ll go to the city (Berlin) I`ll find there some? What firms are good to make this trip to Szczecin and cheap? (no taxi!) and some prices.. Thnx again.

Florin

Hi!
I often use Schonefeld airport to Szczecin. So when You get out of the plane near the main entrance, there are mini buses also with Polish number plates, some of them will definatelly go to Szczecin directly (no need to go to Berlin-centrum) You can also call them in advance and do some booking. I will try to find number to them and write back. Mini- buses go every 2, 3 hours.

Try one of these!

On the web sites You will also find timetables, so You can choose the one most suitable for You . It is better to book a ticket in advance, in case the plane is late they usually wait for You (no more then 40 mints)

First racist attack, expect many more.

How much does it cost for a single person accommodation in warsaw?

Warsaw will be atleast double Szczecin.

Is it possible to live other town and come to szczecin for the office?

No, not in Poland anyway, Germany perhaps, but by all means check out a map.

Keep your enemies close but your so called G friends even closer.

Some people does that- You can live in the neighbouring villages like Dąbie, Dobra, Kliniska, Załom.. It is cheaper to rent a place there (for a single bedroom flat about 8, 9 hundred zł a month). You can get to Szczecin by mini bus or train then (best if You have car of course)

If money is an issue then yes, although i probably read to deep into the post and thought heres a man who wants to live in a big city, and more importantly a racially friendly city. He mentioned Warsaw and i presumed he thought it was close bye thinking as its bigger there will be a larger non white comunity.

If he is concerned about racial issues then a small town or village is definantly not the place as they will stare and stare and stare, as if he's an alien.

I think F. mentioned Szczecin?

they will stare and stare and stare

Whatever, I agree -big cities are more cosmopolitan.
