He's Bangladeshi and does not have much education.

Doing crap jobs (If he even get that) here gives you only enough to survive.

Cleaning, simplest factory jobs etc. but like I said money is very little so If he has any chance to move to any western country or even Czech Republic then he should go there.

Only a couple of indian universities are "superior." The rest are terrible where most people acquire their degrees through bribes. I used to study and work with loads of indians who admitted to me that many indians do this, though it seems to me that only the poor, soon-to-be-immigrating indians do this to get well paid government jobs abroad. The stupid canadian government doesn't do background checks on degrees; they prefer to use the honour system.

Mate, get a life and don't be so quick to judge 1.1 billion people, 400 Universities,14000 colleges in INDIA and the quality of their graduates just on the basis of your experiences with a few nutters from the Indian subcontinent. Actually only 2 universities in Canada could be called world class.i.e Mcgill and Toronto. The quality of Canadian education can be judged from the fact that only 2500 Indian students choose to study there. While 80,000 Indian students make an annual journey south worlds to study in the USA, 20,000 in Australia 15,000 in the UK and even tiny NZ gets 4000 Indians. FYI, the FT(London) just ranked ISB (India School of Business) as the 20th best B-school in the world. Makes me wonder why no Canadian B-school could make it in the top 20. Selah !

Mind you I have not even mentioned the IITs and IISs whose graduates continue to find employment in NASA.. in which they have to produce some real world class scientific results or be fired.

The Indians who are in Canada now are no longer Indians but Canadians and so please stop whining about what 10 of your Indian aquaintances may or may not have done. As all you have is hearsay and nothing more. I know for a fact that if they really managed to bribe their way into good degrees then they might have come from some small town in a backward province in India. And it would mean that they are destined to work in private enterprises run by their family members already based in Canada.

It was a similar pattern in the UK when Indians It is absurd to make a broad generalisation about all poor soon to be immigating Indians which is almost an oxymoron. Poor Indians don"t have money to pay for exorbitant immigration fees charged by the govt of the Cold Country nor for the expensive flight to Out in the Snow. I can say that they would not think of working for the local govt in their adopted homeland either, partly because of home culture influence to distrust the government.

Also I think you seem a bit bitter about something that might have happened to you and I find it preposterous to say that "loads" of Indians walked up to you in Canda and excitedly confessed that they had bribed their colleges to collect their degrees. More likely you are either a dis-empowered Western person who has lost out or know someone who has lost in the rat race to an Indian and cant deal with it.

To the other Western brothers who get a bit hot under the collars, its time to go back to that powerful scene in Mel Gibson's classic movie "The Patriot". Lord Cornwallis is trying to persuade a gentler approach from Col. Tavington, his fiendish subordinate leading the British troops against the ragtag army of colonials seeking independence. Cornwallis gently admonishes " Col.Tavington, you must remember that these colonials are not our enemies, but our brothers. This war is a just a short period in our shared histories and when its over we will do even more commerce together".

So too..with a little more tolerance and openness to discover more about the other..we can all continue our journey into more commerce and greater shared prosperity.

czesc Rohit,

congrats on finding your lady love in Poland... and here's wishing you a long and happy marital life. I think you can eventually become a Polish citizen as they also do allow dual nationality. You need to be married to your partner for 3 years and also legally resident in Poland for the same time period. There might be a language requirement too..so you better work on your Polish too as you should know the language of the country you want to live in long term.

I suggest that you contact Viren from ELBAG as he has been resident in Poland for 7-8 years and knows much more about this than I do. And like you, he too has a Polish spouse and seems to be doing very well in business there.. so scroll back and check all these posts and find his post and email him... and you will also find my mobile number and if you want then you can give me a call anytime after 8 pm and we can have a chat.

BTW, just what do you do in Warsaw. I lived there for a year and its quite nice...though scores a bit less than Krakow, Wroclaw and Gdansk on the beauty aspect ?

Ok mate, its late and I have a Polish lesson tomorrow morning..Nightie night sleep tight.

I'm not attacking all indians, buddy. Indians are smart. However, the indians coming to study here or live here are giving indians and india a bad name. Maybe my previous post wasn't very clear.

Mate, get a life and don't be so quick to judge 1.1 billion people, 400 Universities,14000 colleges in INDIA and the quality of their graduates just on the basis of your experiences with a few nutters from the Indian subcontinent. First of all i don't know what a B school is and frankly i don't give a ****. I don't live in a third world country and don't have to worry about graduating from the best school in the world because my "average" canadian university will land me a job that will allow me to live a life style better than most people on this planet.

I know for a fact that if they really managed to bribe their way into good degrees then they might have come from some small town in a backward province in India.

And that's exactly what they do!

Also I think you seem a bit bitter about something that might have happened to you and I find it preposterous to say that "loads" of Indians walked up to you in Canda and excitedly confessed that they had bribed their colleges to collect their degrees.

Not just me. You don't live here, you don't study here, you don't work here - you have no idea. You're probably different.

you are absolutely right and I am at UofT (Toronto) - I made a good choice - whooohooooo!!!!

Sorry Cunuck - he has a point. If you intend to stay in Canada then you don't need to finish a high rank Uni, but if you want to compete outside he is definately right.

May be going out and exploring the market yourself will be a better choice. I don't know about jewellery but people here definitely seem to be interested in wood-craft :).

I am in IT and currently in poland on a short official trip. I must admit guys I have met here in office ranks among the best s/w professionals I have seen in my career.

I think Warshaw is a decent university, but you can easily find similar ranking universities in India (though competition may be a lot more). As for the scope of IT, it is growing, but again it looks more like a service industry with work flowing in from US or other european countries.

I don't agree, it depends on what you study.

Plenty of canadian engineers work in the usa earning incredible salaries. Mind you there are good jobs in canada so not many leave. There is a huge demand for engineers there and they seem to like canadians. They also like our engineering degrees. Hell i have family members here in canada with engineering degrees from poland making more money than many canadians. Besides, the average canadian doesn't want to leave this continent as his/her quality of life will diminish and their "american dream" will go down the toilet! But indians are desperate to get out so they go to these "great" schools, since its there only ticket out of their country.

HOwever, some of these indians appear to be into IT - not surprising, since our idiotic leaders outsource these kinds of jobs (taking advantage of cheap labour). Others are probably into business/economics or something similar which, i agree, is important to have a degree from a reputable university to succeed outside of canada (and even in canada).

Your thinking is narrow-minded. Given a choice b/w a top university (anywhere in the world) and your local university which may be good but not comparable, wouldn't you choose the better one?

If you say no :), probably its more because you are not good enough to be a part of the best school.
lolz@only ticket out .

Indians in America are doing all kind of job depending on what they are good at. There are restaurant owner, cab drivers (for which you don't need to be in a great school, I don't know about canada :)) and they are in top managment, engineering positions as well.

HOwever, some of these indians appear to be into IT - not surprising, since our idiotic leaders outsource these kinds of jobs (taking advantage of cheap labour)

This is lame :). All I can say is India's economy is booming and IT has a major role to play in it. Thanks a lot for electing your so call "idiotic leaders" as they have a role (however small) to play in India's booming economy.

Hi All

Its good so see so many Indians active on this forum.Great going.
I'll be coming to Warsaw for Procter and Gamble in May 08.
I would definitely need all your advices about living in Warsaw and would definitely like to meet you guys as well.
First problem is accomodation.I am looking for a fully furnished(Internet, stove, set kitchen , washing machines etc) apartment for myself.
1) How much will it cost?
2) Is it easily available near the centre of Warsaw(as my office is near the centre)
If this is not the right forum to answer such question, please guide me to another one.

Thanks a lot
Hemendra

Welcome hemandara,

First problem is accomodation.I am looking for a fully furnished(Internet, stove, set kitchen , washing machines etc) apartment for myself.

You will be able to get apartment fullfuling all your requirements.

1) How much will it cost?

Currently I am paying ~2500PLN (local currency), but I realized only late that this is relatively high as per normal rents here (which is ~1500 PLN). May be because I occupied it for 3 months only.

2) Is it easily available near the centre of Warsaw(as my office is near the centre)

I am living close to centre (10 min walk) and I think you will be able to find one at a reasonable distance.

Thanks Sanjay..
Looking forward to it.. I have to be there in May, so when should be the ideal time to start searching and confirm a place.

What should be the mode of finding the best place.

Regards
Hemendra

so when should be the ideal time to start searching and confirm a place

I am no expert, but may be you can start looking for a place atleast 2-3 weeks in advance (to be on the safer side).

You can search for apartments through internet. Generally the rates mentioned there are pretty high, but you can call them and discuss about your budget (as I did).

Just in case you face problem, send me a personal mail, I will pass on some contact information which you may find useful.
