The guys got a problem with a big chip on his shoulder, and you are right miranda he is asking the wrong people.
If he had half the brain he would have sorted this out even before he came here!!
Imagine coming to a country and not taking into consideration such vital things as a working visa!! That's just plain stupid in anyone's book and then when people try to help he cannot even understand and decipher what is told him.

His own stupidity is stopping him from teaching in Poland, which is not a bad thing to come to think of it, imagine him in the classroom teaching students....Poland is well shot of this type of guy..

when I was working in Poland, there were many ex-pats teaching with me and none of them had a problem with the permit (including the American citizen), since the school took care of that.

Why doesn't the person ask the school to take care of that?

A thing I leant in Poland: keeping ones emotions in check, especially when dealing with office workers is a MUST.

Anybody who has half a brain knows that a Karta Pobytu can not be obtained before coming to Poland. It is only possible to obtain a Karta Pobytu when one is in Poland.

Imagine coming to a country and not taking into consideration such vital things as a working visa!!

A good point but one which is somewhat weakened by the fact that the original poster clearly did take a working visa into consideration and got one too, as can be seen from the fact that he is attempting to renew his Karta Pobytu.

To the original poster: the problem is that, as usual, the law is very badly worded and so there is dispute as to what is and is not a 'school'. The answer you get depends on who you speak to. Hence the problems.

Annoying isn't it?

To the original poster: it seems that as a language teacher you can work without a work permit (and thus get the two year Karta) but only if you work for a school which is approved by / registered with the Polish ministry of education. If you work for a school which isn't on the ministry of education's list, you do need a work permit.
