Translations of Gadu-Gadu

This maybe a silly suggestion but if this is the case, why not try using a different messenger program? Skype springs to mind (as I know it has multi-language support) or even MSN Messenger. I use both to talk to friends in Poland (and other countries).

I've tried GG and while my language skills were sufficient to get me through the installation process, I didn't see anything "special" about the program and certainly not enough to persuade me to keep using it. But, that's only my personal opinion :) If you're happy using GG then long may it continue! :)

I didn't see anything "special" about the program

the specialness is that most of my polish friends dont want to use MSN, skype, etc.

some use gmails now (thankfuly) but all use GG - so its easier for me to learn it than all them learn the other

the program itself is basic

Wuesde, your translation was really helpful! I was able to install the program alone, but couldn't find my way to search for a friend.

10x a lot!

Cris

PS: what does your nick mean?

download program called Gaim (googgle it to find the dowload site) and there you can set up a GG account and use it the same way as the original. only you'll have it in any language you choose

there's one thing in gg that people seem to like, which doesn't exist in msn, that is you can start a conversation to someone who's not in your friends list, anyone who's logged in at the moment. it also means that anyone can start talking to you at any moment you're logged in. happens to me awfully often.

The minus side to that though is if yu wish to block someone all they have to do is switch user and they can see you are still online.:(

Good work bro

Why GG? What's so special about it?

Unfortunately, I've found GaduGadu to be quite insecure.
I've installed it on clean installations and have had malware after a short period.

People are converting to Skype nowadays however (which is localised anyway)

GADU GADU. Is there an English Translation? OR does anybody have

Anybody know of a translation or does anyone have a manual translation of the Messenger and Websit? along with the Profile Sister site: MojaGenercao....something.com?

I'm using it now.

wow, you can see how simple it is when u start using. I tried to find some functions that MSN or Skype has but failed. It is the simplest instant messenger in the world perhaps.

Just one question.. if it's so simple, why do polish people stick on it so badly? come on move!

I'm also interested in creating a GG account. So far I downloaded the program and installed it, but that's it... After that, I don't understand what the dialog box says :-)

My Polish friend once said "Everybody in Poland is using GG". I'm not sure about the realistic proportions, but what is sure is that she had to install Messenger on her PC just for me...

Damn! I posted this before I saw this topic had 2 pages. I can now see the procedure posted by Wuesle. i'll try that ...

Hi Moonlighting, GG is very similar to other instant messenger (though much easier), your can probly guess the meaning of everything. Just close your eyes let feeling lead the way :D

I still have a problem. Don't really understand how to create my account. I filled the form, according to Wuesle's procedure on this thread, then "OK" then... nothing. Am I supposed to receive some number and confirnation to my e-mail adress ?

Thanks for your help

BTW, after completing the form, I just went back to the program, logged as "Ja" with number next to it, and I'm able to search for people.

no you dont get a confirmation to an email address when you sign up to GG you should see your number when you open up GG for the first time normally at the top you will see Ja (meaning you) and then a series of numbers this is your unique GG number.

open GG click on otworz and then click on the szukaj then start searching for people :)

OK, perfect. Thanks telefonitika.

Now, how can I correct my profile ? Apparently, the age is wrong (1 year difference) and I want to replace my Last Name by something more anonymous, given the fact that everybody can see you out there.

Apparently, the age is wrong (1 year difference

this is not an error it is based on the year we are in to the year you were born as i am 28 currently but 29 shows on my profile as that how old i am this year -- hope that helps that bit for you.

to change your last name (which i have never put in on GG) go to otworz ... click on Gadu Gadu at the top of the messenger screen then click on Ustawienia this opens up the details page

then click on twoje publiczne dane and here you can change your profile that all members that use GG can see when searching :)

hope all that helps you out moonlighting

hmmm this forum has been VERY useful in installing GG, which I have done, but using the actual program is near impossible. I have it now installed on my computer, and have a number. I can change my display name and stuff I know how to do that. BUt whenever I open it up, it gives me what looks like a server log on box, and when I try and log-on it gives me a message in Polish I don't understand, and then brings me back to the log in screen. But, I know my password is correct... It's confusing me... do I need to register or something? Surely if I have a number then I am registered??? I'll write the message it gives....

"To haslo jest nieprawidlowe. Sprobuj innego lub wybierz przycisk [Przypomnij] aby odzyskac haslo."

Can someone tell me what this means and how to fix my problem? It's just that we took part in a massive exchange trip with Polish and German and Italian students, and obviously Poland has it's own popular messenger service Gadu - Gadu. I figured it would be easier for me to get Gadu-Gadu,rather than all of the people I met get msn, and so I'm trying to install it. However, I'm not sure how to use it and how to get started... Please can someone help! I'm desperate to talk to some of the nicest people I've ever met!!! Thank you!

Your password is incorrect. Try another or click Przypomnij (Remind) to get your password back.
(somehow it did not work for me the last time I tried).

It's better to change your password completely yourself.
Open GG
Go to Gadu-gadu tab (next to "kontakty")
Click,
then click "Ustawienia"
You'll see your nick and your password (haslo) - but as dots only. Click the word "zmien" (change) next to it. Check "zmiana hasla" (change password).

Plug in a new password and click "zmien" - you're done.
Sign on with a new password.

P.S. Why don't you use SKYPE? It is in English and better than GG.
