UK, Ireland / Relocating to the UK [7]

Even better, I received an unconditional offer for the London Met Uni (MSc Aviation and International Trade), alhtough I'm not too sure whether I want to go there; they're not in the best financial state. I'm also looking at University of Greenwich (MA Transport Logistics). However, I think I will defer my acceptance to February or Sept. 2010, I want to save up a little money so I have a cushion just in case I don't find a job right away.

UK, Ireland / Relocating to the UK [7]

I'm trying to get into grad school in london and if i dont get accepted for the semester starting in september, i will go to aberdeen, scotland for the time being and reapply for the winter semester. So I will likely be taking two suitcases with me on the plane, and I would like to ship one or two boxes to aberdeen, with the rest of my junk :)

UK, Ireland / Relocating to the UK [7]

I will be relocating to the UK sometime soon, and I was wondering if there is a courier service (not UPS or Fedex; their way too expensive), that I could ship a box about the size of one or two suitcases to London, possibly even Northern Scotland, because I will likely end up their real soon. Some time ago I shipped some boxes to europe for about $20 - $30 and it took about 4-6 weeks for them to get there by ship, so I'm looking in this direction. Thanks, Paul

UK, Ireland / POLISH TEENAGER MURDERED IN UK..man convicted [28]

WTF??? He should be put away for life!! There should be no chance of him ever being released back into the public. As long as he believes in his "religion", he's going to do it agian. This is the stuff that pisses me off about the British legal system; IT HAS NO BALLS!!! I could go on about the stuff that has gone on, e.g. actual terrorists seeking and being granted asylum in the UK!!! This is really sad.

UK, Ireland / In search of a doctor in Scotland [3]

Hi, Is there a website that you can search for doctors in Scotland? Preferably, Polish doctors in Northeast Scotland, if there are any? Around Aberdeen? Inverness? Elgin?

Thanks in advance,

Work / Just about to move to Gdynia - teaching job Help! [24]

Go for it. You can always find a job in Poland. Although you did not mention if you've been through school, and what level. As far as teaching English, you can put an ad in a newspaper to be a tutor. That's what I would do if I were you. Good Luck.

Life / Airports being built in Polska [5]

Rzeszow-Jasionka is in the process of building a badly needed terminal, which honestly is long over due, but it will definately give Rzeszow a new look, once its up.

News / Polish Embassy in Baghdad under Missile Attack [4]

It should have been done a long time ago :( :(

...As of Monday, April 28, 2008, at least 4,056 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003,...

...The British military has reported 176 deaths; Italy, 33; Ukraine, 18; Poland, 21; Bulgaria, 13; Spain, 11; Denmark, seven; El Salvador, five; Slovakia, four; Latvia, three; Estonia, Netherlands, Thailand, Romania, two each; and Australia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, South Korea, one death each...

I wonder if there will be anything to be proud of after this war comes to a conclusion (if it comes to a conclusion).

Real Estate / Why are homes in Poland more expensive than in the USA? [27]

Depends what area of the United States your comparing Poland to. I do construction jobs part-time and there are houses in Long Island (New York), where the property tax alone for the house is about $20,000-$30,000 per year, and they are nice homes but there not anywhere close to mansions, nor are they shoreline property.

Life / My girlfriend wants to go back to Poland as she thinks lifes better there [36]

Polish people will always travel to find green American dollars and they think of little else. However, Poland is probably changing and there is a new middle class emerging, however, much of it is based on credit.

Well, you see most people have bills to pay. Student loans, familys to support, car insurance, mortagages and the like. Thus money is very important, whatever nationality you are. However, it seems you don;'t have much of a life, so you don't have to worry about nor understand these things.

Law / Residency in Europe for Polish-American - Question [11]

Ok, because when Bulgaria and Romainia joined in 2007. I believe the EU set some legislation in place that restricted the countries BG and RO citicens could enter for work purposes. I was wondering if Polish citizens have any such restriction put in place on them.

Law / Residency in Europe for Polish-American - Question [11]

Well, of course germany is part of the eu. But I have heard that you need some type of sponsorship to work there or something like that. I would like to know the countries (atleast in Europe) for which you do not need any type of paperwork (as far as visa's or sponsorships are concerned.

Travel / Autokary from London (Heathrow) to Krakow or Rzeszow [12]

The coach is often much cheaper than flying, take booze because its generally a drinking party.

That sounds rather appealing.

Anyway, the tickets for the coach bus going to Poland is about 50 pounds each way. Its actually more or less equal in price (traveling by air vs. traveling by road). The only thing is that, the airline I will be traveling will from New York to the UK, allows 2 bags of 22 kg each. Centralwings allows only one I believe? of 20kg? With the option of purchasing an additional allowance of 12 kg. Also, I need to look at the times of arrival and departure. because I dont think I want to be sitting at the airport overnight, waiting for my flight. Hmmm, maybe another airline flys to Gatwick from Krakow, or Rzeszow?

Travel / Autokary from London (Heathrow) to Krakow or Rzeszow [12]

The thing about Wizz, Ryan, anf the other low cost carriers is the fact that they'll charge extra for baggage, and they do not fly into Heathrow, or Gatwick, so I would have to be transferring between airports. As far as seating is concerned, I don't need to be that confortable to fall asleep, I can do it just about anywhere :) Anyway, I'll be looking into this more and more.

Travel / Autokary from London (Heathrow) to Krakow or Rzeszow [12]

Well, I'll be flying from New York to Heathrow, and then I was considering taking a coach bus as an alternative cheaper form of transportation, in addition to seeing Europe by road. I believe it would come out to about 750 USD going this route. There is also a flight from New York to Dublin, then Dublin to Krakow, for about 910 USD. So I wonder if its worth saving the 160 or so. Anyway, I'll be looking into this some more. Thanks for the wuick responses.
