Love / Soldier born in Poland / living in England. Fiance going away for ages. Complicated... [205]

I worked with a girl who started dating someone and 3 months later he went to Iraq. She thought he was the one and decided to make it work. He was gone for 9 months, but he called her at least 4 times a week and they made it work. I know it was really hard on her and that every situation is different, but it's proof that it can work. He's out of Iraq now they're married and having a little girl in a few months. Also if you are sure you want to spend your life with him 6 months is only a fraction of the time you will be together.

Love / Polish Gay Life [142]

quality? Explain.

My friend at uni tells me it is no more racist in Poland than in the UK, and the majority of Polish people I've come across seem warm and open-minded.

Your friend at uni is polish? Has older generation family members there? Honestly, I don't feel the need to hate on people because of there personal choices but a lot of people in Poland especially people over the age of 30 don't share my view.

Life / Polish Youth - are they violent? [71]

And of course Poles never travel. So they can't possibly know what life is like beyond their borders, can they ?

Life / Polish Youth - are they violent? [71]

yep, they said that Webb cause a Polish humiliation and that I should be punished for what my country did.

last year in munchen I met up with some of my friends traveling and some how this young (around 20) polish nationalist was there. Which was awkward... for the fact he would say stuff like what those kids said to you of course he only deemed me acceptable to talk to after he figured I was polish... funny thing is he wasn't really even all polish his grandparents were. I find this really odd. But I also find the fact that any one could justify Webb as an excuse to attack another person horrifying... truly sorry not all youth is like that

the "new york lifestyle" has absolutely nothing to do with where you are now in Poland. Poland is not America and will never have a NYC in it so you might as well meet some cool people while your there and quit hating on everyone else thats isn't nice because everywhere INCLUDING NEW YORK has crappy people living there.

MrBubbles:
A lot of Poles are naturally very rude by Anglo Saxon standards. What annoys me is having people stare me down on the tram / bus. Nodding and smiling doesn't do anything, even blowing them a kiss. It's just something they've been brought up with I guess.

well the thing is and I'm being serious here sometimes we just don't smile. People have told me they hated me when they first met me because i don't respond to smiles or nods I just look at people with a blank expression which apparently looks like a glare...

Life / Asian and Polish culture - how do they compare? [24]

I don't think it would be a problem as long as a person is open minded. There are things that might appear to be strange to both sides but that shouldn't deter a friendship.

Warsaw ,Kraków ,Gdańsk and may be more

for two months I would go over there with no less than 5000. I went last year and took about 7000 and spent almost 3000 for living, but some people would argue I like the finer things in life

but also I traveled to Munich and Milan while I was there.

Love / Polish man- why they do not make a move?? [25]

Of course I am asking this on a furum where most people is not in Poland and have never been.

Well yes a majority of us have been or have lived there and are still active in polish community outside of poland.

have never been confused before, either they like you or they don't and it's pretty clear.

You are very lucky. I find that things are never this black and white. Also, men aren't always as perceptive as we think they are...

The Poles would like kimchi, it's spicy cabbage. U can buy kimchi noodles in Piast.

I think it is funny because I will cook cabbage and kielbasa sometimes and he will not eat it because he "doesn't like cabbage" haha kimchi is yummy smells awful though.

Love / Polish man- why they do not make a move?? [25]

Well vary vague, but that would be enough for man from another countries ( I had very good results just with a smile or a vague remark).

Well if you have been vague I do not think it is a lost cause.

If he is married, is it a big difference? If it is, it has to be the polish way.

Married= stay away for your own good. Also I think it is not solely a polish way of thinking...

How does Korean food make u feel or haven't u tried it?

KIMCHI! It's an acquired taste... I can stomach some of it but not octopus or chicken feet or blood sausage or fish cakes or anchovies with the head.

USA, Canada / study abroad funding [4]

well congrats on getting accepted as a high school exchange student. Unfortunately i there are not a lot of grants for high school study abroad. You might try your local rotary or key clubs. Sometimes they have money to give away for things like that
