History / WW2: Britain Declares War on Germany to Save Poland [290]

soon well have more Polish ppl in Natzi army than Germans... as far as I know US mustangs were flying over uk not russia. People fighting in ressistance during the Warsaw thing [dunno if it should be called upriseing or what...], westerplatte, all those resistace fighters, includeing young people [some from scouts] fighting for freedom, saying that so and so many Poles fought alongside natzis is imo like spitting them in face, most of those fighting in german army were eather forced or if they did it on their own they were germans liveing in poland, cant rly belive that a Polish person would join natzis out of their own free will and help them...

History / WW2: Britain Declares War on Germany to Save Poland [290]

fact is no 1 did anything openly exept for declaring wars and such untill hitler came knocking on hes door, uk and france declared wars and didnt do sht, at least not untill hitler came and kick the thing that france called military, england finally responded and sent some troops to help france, after first couple fights brits were retreating faster than germans approaching... USA didnt give a f untill Pearl Harbor [considering that americans dont really like uk after revolutionary war and all its not a suprise]. yea they sent airplanes and other means of support to uk but most of it unoficjally, congress didnt agree to openly support anyone in that war so they had to "smuggle" US airplanes to canada and than send them to uk [i read bout it in one of the history books]. if france wasnt habbitet by bunch of cowards [thac how they look to me after all this, after napoleon the didnt rly do anything to improve their military apparently, since germas kicked them out of the picture faster than Poland], uk tried to keep the invincible from happening and payed the price, thinking theyre safe cuz of the navy, air force and fact that uk is an island. and at the end good russia helping with hitler, apparently someones forgetting who was helping him at the beggining, if hitler didnt attack russia hed prolly hold on to what he had and wed be all speaking eather german or russian now...

USA, Canada / Dual Citizenship: American and Polish? [53]

Well, unless you got any legal stuff with poland [you ran from military, juvelee record, etc.] you shouldnt worry about it, you can as well go on US pasport, your kids dont have citizenship as well as your wife, youd have to go to consulate and request that I think and some restrictions apply [they'd need to live in Poland prolly etc.] The only way you could get in trouble being a Polish citizen other than that described above is if you were still registered as liveing in poland [zameldowany w polsce] and didnt serv your military thingy, I had a problem with that, had to send a paper to my mom saying that I give her the right to unregister me from the house so the Army wouldnt harras her or stop me at the border...

UK, Ireland / Drunken Poles on the streets of London!! [103]

Actually Americans dont like to stick their noses out of US, most of them dosnt even have pasports [and they never even live their home state...]. Mayby students or military [we still got one of the biggest USArmy bases in Rammstein], I know more or less what US sailors do when they get to a port [and we dock at Gdansk sometimes too;]].

UK, Ireland / Drunken Poles on the streets of London!! [103]

picking on dead drunk foreginers in a pub and beathing the crap out of them is nothing to be proud of... if ya wanna do something good go and chase those skin headed bands with baseball bats and fancy pants with stripes on the side [called dres], that is if you got the balls for it. A lot of drunken ppl arent rly doing anything bad, we got drunk with my friends back in Poland many times, usually after pary we all just tried to roll/crawl/"walk" our way back home and start treating the hangover [or go to another party, depends], we never picked on girls or misbehaved, its all about the way you were teached to bechawe as a kid, if you'r parents didnt give a f... than it dosnt matter if your from poland, england or kongo, you still gonna miss behave and act like an s hole. i understand its a problem in england, but its not like flaming people of this forum [with are mostly educated and smart] will help at all. I live in US, Iv seen more useless spanish scum liveing of my taxes and doing compleatly nothing than you could imagine, with the borders leaking and no good goverment standing towards this we got what we got... still i dont go and flame spanish people on their forums.

Life / What type and brand of cars do Polish people like? [51]

My friend says that its all about where the car was made, you can have top class BMW made in Mexico and it wouldnt be half as good as VW made in Germany or even a Peugot from France, car factories tend to be build in poor areas so it would be cheaper for the manufacturer, no offence but a guy from mexico with 5 grades in school compared to an expierienced german/french engeneer isnt a best choice... cars made in Poland arent bad throu, dawoo was korean but as far as I know manufactured in FSO [or ex fso, whatever] and for the price it had it wasnt so bad [and it was very popular in ~1998 - 2002].

Life / What type and brand of cars do Polish people like? [51]

Considering that Im comeing to Poland for 30 days a year and earn my sallary in $ [not to mention that there isnt much to spend it on when you spend 6 months of the year on a ship underway...] so idk too much, allthrou Im definitly going to change the engine and such and one of my priorities is fuel efficiency and enviorment since European union cares about that a lot more than Americans do... I dont think id even get papers for that car without a big modernisation :] .

Im from Wroclaw so not shure bout Warsaw, it all depends on the market you want to hit, if its rich class [managers, buisness ovners, foregin buisnessmans etc] than yea Id shoot for nice SUV's and such, still regular working people with fammilies wont afford something that burns too much fuel etc. warranty is also important, its really hard to get a stolen car back in poland so any type of anti theft stuff would be appreciated. I could ask my uncle about it, he lives in Wroclaw with a family [3 kids] and he needs a car for both work and personal usage, now I think they got one of those wierd looking Kia's, fammily type car.

Life / What type and brand of cars do Polish people like? [51]

Everything thac cheap [primary concern], fuel efficient [secondary concern due to gas prices high. Thac why you wont find too many SUV's and all those big cars that burn s... load of gasoline with r v popular in USA], third would be the size since most people with cars serv as drivers for whole families when it comes to vacation and bigger events. Last but not least, the safety and how long will the car be able to withstand Polish roads...

and imo most popular would be Peugot, Fiat, Daewoo, VW, Ford, basicly all that meets at least two of the above criterias. Ppl with thick wallets usually ride Mercedes [guess its like synonym of Polish luxury still], BMW goes usually for the peeps called "dresiarze" or at least that what most ppl think bout them, most of them r stolen from Germany too, but thac a different story ;] .

Im personally saveing for a Camaro z-28 from ~1980, that beast gonna be really fun to drive throu Poland :] .

USA, Canada / Dual Citizenship: American and Polish? [53]

depends, for me it was a litle pain in the back when I was enlisting in US Navy, as dual citizen I had to speak with some guy from the goverment, anser some silly questions and such for the security clearence, this applys for most goverment jobs in US, I dont know about poland... good thing is that you can use Polish health care, as Polish citizen, its like 10x less expensive than in US, sometimes its worth it just for that, not to mention being the EU citizen too. Some goverment and military jobs are closed for dual citizens, but stuff like police, fire dept, some non top secret military jobs and such are avilable, I think even officer proggrams for the military accept dual citizens, not schue throu...

Language / So i bought the Polish game "Wiedźmin" to learn Polish. [27]

well, i gota tell ya, i thought i learned english pretty well by doing same untill i went to us to live and work and reality confronted me there... still its not a bad way to catch some words and phrases, also keep in mind that games like those dont use the language used in everyday life, when you go to a store to buy a coke and pack of chips knowing all the medieval arsenal in that language wont help much ;] .

Language / So i bought the Polish game "Wiedźmin" to learn Polish. [27]

thing is that translations in fantasy games are rarely directly from one language to another, a lot of stuff has to be changed in order to make it understandable and make sense in the other language, you cant just take a dictionary and translate a piece of fantasy book cuz it will be gibberish... im not shure if its best way to learn Polish, certainly a start but id rather get one of those cd courses, a book or sign up for a life course if Id want to learn a second language good enough to communicate, it took me quite a while to learn English, but now when i think about it than yea first pc games in english [especjally fantasy type games since other usually dont have much text in them to read/hear] and than english book and online games [that last one is the "final stage" of fun learning] in with you actually communicate via texting and sometimes talking with other people in that language. I hope I didnt get you bored out of your mind by this or confuzed, playing games in other language as a help in learning foregin language helps a lot but used as a only way to learn it, it wont sucee [my english still sucks sometimes...] id get one of those language cds and a dictionary and than after a while you should start understanding more of it. and last but not least, dont dig to deep in polish gramma, its so wicked even most polish dont use it properly...

Language / How do people mispronounce your Polish names? [60]

thanks to my mom I got both my dad and my oms names as second name, since the millitary dosnt allow highfination in second names my name tag is Haigkardasiewicz [instead of Haig Kardasiewicz], most people call me H16, biggest problem is that almost all my working uniforms have name tags, so wherever I go I got 50000 people asking me "how do you prononce your name", after two weeks its kinda hard not to punch anybody...

Travel / Age requirements when going out to clubs in Poland [13]
