Ahh yes the nasty habit of freedom to do something that one likes with a legal product or substance. How about the nasty habit of a free person making a personal choice…to smoke or not to smoke that is the question. To enter an establishment that allows smoking in it or not, that can also be a question. Lets not forget the nasty habit of allowing a business owner to make his/her own decision who to cater to rather than a legislator.

I can understand the dislike of the smell etc.
Seems however that what all you anti-smoking nazis don't understand is the simple idea of personal freedom.
Your freedom to breath fresh air is and has always been yours as was the choice to enter a bar or a restaurant with a smoking section.

Ohh by the way second hand smoke is a joke and if you buy into such nonsense your simply naïve.
I have no problem with the idea of trying to accommodate both through good filtration systems and separation, but I sure do have a problem with baseless fascism favoring one group of people over another. Your rights do not out weigh, why would you think they do?

Yes i am Polish, left as a kid with the family. My Polish is a bit rusty but i'd say semi-fluent.


Though I’ve always enjoyed volleyball, a player I am not due to being vertically challenged. :) I’m more of a soccer/tennis guy.

So what would be the best time of the year to seek teaching position ?

What are the contracts like?

How do they typically structure the pay, salary or per hour ?

Do the schools set up a curriculum or do you design your own?

How often is there someone observing your class ?
is that more of a beginning thing or a regular thing?…I ask because I don’t like when there is someone looking over my shoulder.

I’m not a teacher by trade as you already know so I’m planning on getting TESOL/TEFL certified here…I’m assuming that would help me find work and make me more valuable right?

Thanx much for the response, very encouraging…. as I’m gathering info it's mostly positive but you always get the not so positive stories that sneak in and create doubt in your mind. This is a big move for me....come to think of it how have you been able to make all your moves, must be an expert by now hehe. The process is daunting, besides that I am excited about it though.

The STAY NATIVE thing makes sense but i wonder how I’ll be able to pull that off however, with my name and the fact that i am polish....hmm

Hi all,
I’m in the process of getting my ducks in a row to make my move to Poland...or i should say back to Poland. I left as a kid 20 years ago or so. I recently snapped and left my corporate tech job, coming to the conclusion that life’s too short to and I’m still young enough to leave the rat race and have and adventure or two. As much as a love and support what the US decreasingly stands for, i yearn for change. Anyway, it hit me that I always enjoyed teaching/training people in my former field but don't so much like the field it self. Luckily over the years I’ve become rather proficient in English and learned that it's a hot commodity in Poland, especially when coming from a native speaker or so it would seem.

From what I’ve read here thus far, seems I shouldn't worry much about finding a job and making a decent living...correct?
Any other tips on the job search, the job it's self and perhaps any pitfalls etc. etc. ??

If all goes to plan I’ll be working somewhere relatively near you, I'm originally from Jastrzebie Zdroj so I’ll be returning to that general area. Not the prettiest part of Poland by any stretch....though sounds like you like it thus far??

This is a problem with people like you; you exaggerate words or acts to the point that the real thing loses all meaning. Like calling a night of drunken sex followed by regret rape or playing loud music to get information out of a prisoner torture. Both of which are some of the most atrocious depraved acts human kind is capable of but are diluted by claims such as the above that pale in comparison. Now, you may not agree with either of those examples but calling what I said women bashing is an example of just that, merely less important in the scope of things. It is people like you that through your lack of perspective and hypersensitivity disrupt societal conversation and in the end impede freedom of speech. But that’s a big picture of which you’re likely not aware of, nor understand and yes perhaps incorrectly, I am assuming here ;)

Sorry this is a bit off topic but this woman is driving me crazy so i have to respond.

Ohh Patrycja you have got to learn to pay attention and not assume so much and if you are going to assume things than make sure to state that and perhaps ask for a correction if you happen to be wrong, other wise u just come off looking like a 40 watt bulb..

Like with your post on my thread i'll take the time to explain things to you and hope for the best.

Please point out where i discuss how hard my life has been or better yet claim that it was hard. As far as i can tell all i presented in my statement was that it was not an quick/easy process to get out of Poland, a communist country @ the time. A commentary on the topic @ hand and something AmirahJanowitz & plk123 were talking about. As things would have it, in fact my life was quite easy and worry free for the most part due to the hard work and love of my parents, but that's neither here nor there.


If you would think @ all you wouldn't make such an unsupported claim.
Without getting into too much detail i can safely tell you that i appreciate what this country did for my family and all the other immigrants like us immensely. My American friends are astonished how patriotic and involved i am ( much more so than they are ) in the fight for this nation not even being born here. I fight to keep it moving in the right direction every day. Not being a person holding a political position of power i do my little bits to keep this nation going in the right direction, although more and more now trying to bring it back from the of wrong direction it has been moving in for some time. Disseminating literary, audio and visual information to as many people as i can reach. Contacting my representatives in government on a regular basis in the effort to keep them voting correctly etc. etc. etc.

My guess is not much, my guess is that you're not even particularly well informed on what is actually happening in this country of ours. People generalize on things all the time some are generalizations are true and some are not. some examples for you : Polaks are stupid, Jews are good with money, American girls are nuts.

Polaks are stupid: is that true, of course not but ask was it true when it originated and the simple answer is yes like it or not. How is that true u may ask, well during the mass immigration to America between 1899-1930 or so the bulk of the immigrants were uneducated simple people. So to the established populace ( previous immigrants ) that was an easy generalization based on lack of the immigrans formal education. Does that mean that all were stupid or that even the ones that were not highly educated but highly adaptable and street smart were, of course not. However, on a educational level as a generalization it applied and was true. It certainly doen't apply any more.

Jews are good with money: Is every Jew good with money ? Nope
but as a people comparatively to other societies do the Jewish people more often stick as close nit families and pass on their acquired business knowledge from generation to generation yes.......the proof is in the pudding my dear, how else can a people that have been brutalized so much through our history survive and flourish. making the generalization true.

American girls are nuts: again is every one of them nuts ? nope
Statistically are American girls more prone to be self centered, career oriented, materialistic, not as family oriented, driven, independent, quicker to take the divorce route women that lets say Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, or Polish for that matter. That would be a yes. Simple cultural differences, not even commenting on right and wrong or better and worse just different.

So when it comes to marriage and setting up a family those characteristics make them nuts to me.

Without generalizations there is not truth...... i am not going to take the time to explain this to you, in case you don't understand what i mean.

I'm a polish man born and raised living now in US. Take this for what it's worth in my humble opinion all this, polish men this western men that etc. in the end don't matter. You seem like a fantastic woman simply looking to be happy. He may very well be a good man and love you. regardless of nationality men generally have communication problems. YOU need questions answered so stop worrying about upsetting him get together with him sit down and have and adult conversation like the two adults that both of you are. tell him what you need, ask him what he wants/needs and see if the two of you can come up with a solution.

be kind, be gentle but be honest with him and your self.
COMMUNICATION COMMUNICATION COMMUNICATION tis the key to understanding and understanding is what u're missing.
and if you talk to him and if things just don't add up ........ become the intelligent woman you are and move on.
we both know there are many other good men out there....... yeah it can be hard to find a partner......... believe me i've been searching for a good woman for some time now but settling just to settle and be unhappy but not alone to me makes no sense.

In a Utopian world that would be true and ppl could live where there wished however we don't live in that world and have to deal with there reality and insanity of rules and politics. it took my family 13 years of trying to get the hell our of Poland and from under the boot of communism. in the end i didn't have a father for 3 of those years but finally perseverance worked and we're in the US now. Living the dream as some would say, it's only too bad that now this nation is about to fall like Rome. Just can't get any damn peace and quiet.
