News / Polish Election Poll (according to PolishForums) [237]

Both parties sell us out to socialist Brussels bureaucracy, beside of election rhetoric difference between them is very small. I think that no matter which will win, margin will be very small. I'm curious what all those "survey believers" will say then.

I think that 2 years after tomorow election, your arguments about crazy corupted (sic!) Liberals will look strange.

It is not true even now because PO is not liberal. :)

News / Polish Election Poll (according to PolishForums) [237]

Here you have UPR political program. Beside that Korwin is not a UPR's president for quite a long time... as I mentioned before Wojciech Popiela is UPR leader.

upr.org.pl/main/artykul.php?strid=1&katid=79&aid=91

PiS values showed by UPR (yes this spot was made by UPR supporter ) LOL :))))

How do you know that? This would be possible but I doubt because he doesn't mentioned UPR in the end what would be very unwise.

Beside of that one could replace PiS to PO and Kaczynski to Tusk in this film and almost everything would fit. Donald is a duck as well after all :)

News / Polish Election Poll (according to PolishForums) [237]

LPR did many wrong choices in the past, I know that. Together with PO they voted for becikowe or CBA, this is indeed unacceptable. However their ideological background is Endecja which was quite liberal, Rybarski or Taylor were very good economists. So if they declared that they want to back to their roots we can only be happy with such outcome. Still we are just in one election committee to reach parliament and then we will continue to promote UPR brand.

I would like to point out that same fact that LPR oppose socialist and bureaucratic European Union make them more liberal than PO. Actually they support for example rejection of obligatory fees for OFE, something that PO oppose (I have heard both Gowin and Schetyna claiming so).

A message for PO from myself is hands off from my pocket!

True, Radio Maryja told people to vote on PiS and they did it...fools, aren't they ? ;)

About 90% of mainstream media outlets cheering for PO all the time, so I would be careful with this argument in your place ;)

'Socialism is a system which heroically overcomes problems that aren't known to other systems.' Stefan Kisielewski (UPR founder member)

News / Poland 2007 Elections: PO Won, PIS second [232]

Well, we will see whether PO gain majority, I hope so. The last thing we need is another coalition.

I'm a bit disappointed that UPR is out once again. Looks like only UPR voters voted for our committee while all socialistic voters of LPR switched their support to PiS. This is time to build stronger party structures in the region and wait for our turn. I hope that UPR wont make any coalitions anymore.

Good news is the result of the post-communist left, weaker than I expected. Of course lack of Samoobrona in the next parliament also improves my humor a bit.

Tusk has just Kashubian roots, he doesn't speak their language and is not considered among them as "their man". I know what I'm talking about, because I live in Gdansk.

we take our soldiers form Iraq :))))

Of course not, at least in near time.

Actually Muslims fight each other more than our soldiers. So, mess will continue anyway. However I think that we should withdrawn.

News / Third World War and the role of Poland [82]

Uk in war against Russia, eh? I wonder what would be the EU decission.

They would be destroyed even before they would call for a debate in EU parliament to discuss this issue :)

If something like this happens Poland should immediately proclaim neutrality.

One looked slightly interested for a moment, then said it didn't really matter, they were 'all the same' to her.

She is about right on this. They don't deserve a vote.

I asked a "friend" a few years ago why he didn't pay production staff the minimum wage and he said he would, but as they would happily work for less, his directors wouldn't let him pay more than he needed to.

Ask politicians why they grab about 70% of our wages every each month.

The point is clear. Here are the groups of people in Poland who will find their lives better after PO win:

PO is just a myth that will be exposed soon (again). But your defense of PiS has no sense, they are bunch of ignorants with no clue how to run the country. They steal less than PO but they cause a lot of opportunities to corruption to other people because of their incompetence.

News / Poland 2007 Elections: PO Won, PIS second [232]

Media outlets indeed have enormous influence on the results of democratic elections. Please note that except of PSL (a specific, archaic farmer party) all those who reached parliament were backed by some mainstream media.

This is true that for example TVN did attacked PiS before even they really started to govern. Ugly TV program called "Szklo Kontaktowe" is a prime example of anti-PiS propaganda. This is pathetic when I see mostly pretty stupid people (I mean TV viewers who call to this program) laughing at the stupidity of PiS and their voters.

However PiS hijacked shamelessly public media, put their own people on all the posts and they did their job marginalizing other parties. Affair with program "FORUM" and Joanna Lichocka (everything is on You Tube) speaks for itself. Still I'm 99% sure that PO will soon replace PiS propagandists on their own. One could only dream about this "liberal" party privatize such cake like public media! (especially without swindles)

My conclusion is that those who are not backed by some mainstream media has no chance and often voters are not aware that they exist at all.

News / Is the E.U. good for Poland?? [180]

but your government wouldn't have a clue what to do on very simple matters if they were not led by the hand and actually shown how things should be done.

I agree, Polish politicians indeed think in this way. They have absolutely no idea what should be done and they are afraid that they will destroy everything. So this is better to pass all problems to Brussels. One could think if they have no idea why they are in politics but this is rhetoric question I suppose.

On other hand Brussels bureaucrats know what they want, they are confident. When their project will be finished we will wake up like Josef K. in Franz Kafka novel "The Trial".

I refer to mind blowingly "trivial" matters like free toilets in restaurants and in supermarkets.

Judging by the fact that this new constitutional treaty is 63,000 words long, issues that you mentioned are also included. What would we do without bureaucrats!

LoL people in prison are not all criminals...there are real dangerous guys, and small thieves... ;) LoL
And what about old people blinded by Radio Maryja " (and vote PiS) ?...

They are honest people, I have nothing against them. Comparing them and criminals is even worse than comparing homosexuals and pedophiles.

I hate to say but this isn't evidence that "they" all want democracy.

The real Russian problem is not because something that they don't want, I mean "democracy " but because something they do want, 'authoritarian socialism'. But still this is rather their problem than our.

true, there are people in jail who are guilty of nothing more than smoking a joint..

Few post more and we will learn that they are all in fact innocent political prisoners of Kaczynski regime :))

News / What sort of fellow is this Donald Tusk anyway? [34]

Pl is so screwed.. this guy loves Pilsudski.

Twins love him too.

which would make 41% of poland losers as they voted for him

now thats a statistic for you to contemplate

By the way. What do you think about Bush and how this is related to his voters?

I like Pilsudzki too ,especialy for what he did for Polish independence during WWI and 1920.

Dmowski has much bigger worth as far as political negotiations after WWI are concentrated. About Polish -Soviet war, Pilsudski role is just a myth. Do you heard about general Rozwadowski?

When we compare Kaczynski biography ... he is so little boy... When Tusk was taking part of what happened in '81. Kacz. decided to stay home and study ... marksist law... because he have choosen one of the most hated by oppositionist specialization on University ... no comment.

What a biased CV is this? I might not agree with JK on many issues but I don't question his past in opposition. Try to be at least a bit objective and not like some hardcore party apparatchick.

well, some of you are trying very hard to prove that only "bad" people voted for PO and you tell some fairytales about how bad PO is..... if you dont live in this country and say that PiS should have won, then no comments:/

Although I don't support PiS or claim that all PO voters are "bad", I do live in Poland and I dare to say that PO is just a mystification, bunch of opportunists without any higher ideals. Hopefully this opinion deserve your comment, this is a discussion board after all. :)

As I have wrote yesterday, PO already denied speculations that they want privatize public media. Four years of PO propaganda for our money, great!

Also are LiD similar to the Liberal Democrats, PSL similar to Respect, LPR similar to the BNP?

LiD claims to be socialistic but in fact they have no political orientation. Group of opportunists, their only goal is to be professional politicians as long as possible. PSL cares about peasants only and collect voters among them. I'm not sure but I think BNP is socialistic and rather atheistic. LPR just recently started to express some economic liberalism, before they were known as populist socialists. Both BNP and LPR are anti-EU, the latter is conservative in Catholic sense.

Did the NOP contest the election?

Both mayor parties, I mean PO and PiS agreed for early elections in that way (to exclude competition of smaller parties) that all elections committees that wanted to start needed to collect a lot of signatures during very short period of time (10 days). Normally they would have I think a bit more than one month. This caused that only seven election committees managed to register. Some smaller parties like UPR or PR joined LPR list because this was the only way to participate in these elections. NOP failed to register alone and with their reputation (quite aggressive in rhetoric) this is impossible to join some bigger party lists. However they have very small support and absolutely no chances to enter parliament.

News / What sort of fellow is this Donald Tusk anyway? [34]

Oh yes, when Kacz. joined opposition ? He was really little boy there. Now he wants to be first anty-commie. When Tusk risked everything in '81 Kaczysnki prefered to stay at home, he was from good family, he had to study.

Tusk was a no-name at that time, he could risk everything because he had nothing.

If you suggest that all people who studied law are communists this is absolutely silly and you chose to target this particular group only because this fits you at the moment. How many lawyers in PO educated at that time? Maybe none?!

If Kaczynski would use his skills to serve the regime against the nation then your complains would be justified but you have no such evidence.

Kaczynski was, not without reason the main adviser of Walesa and chief of his presidential bureau.

Your description of LiD could easily be applied to most British MP's and all MEP's!

Same here but especially LiD and Samoobrona.

Basically old fashioned Communists under a new name then.

Befre WWII PSL was a real mainstream party, later was hijacked by communist regime and renamed to ZSL. This is how they pretended that we have multi-party system. So current PSL origin in this communist one. They are socialistic and full of happiness because Common Agriculture Policy of the EU. However on moral issues they have conservative stance, probably because this is stand of most of their voters.

I think the Socialists would disagree with that as they hate the BNP and consider them to be 'extreme right wing'. Though looking through their policies there is a mix of Socialism and Conservatism.

Well, I see the world how it is and not how the socialists would wish us to see it! :) According to leftist propagandists Hitler was also extreme right despite being member of National Socialist Party!

Certainly not atheistic though, very anti Muslim and into 'Defending Christian Values' while remaining secular.

What is their stance on issues like abortion, homo-marriages/adoption? I have read once David Cameroon, from supposed Conservative Party who asked for exclusion of Catholic orphanages from giving their children to adoption for homosexuals... This is not how conservatism is considered in Poland. If a leader of the party that I support (UPR) said something like this I would be shocked and demand not only his resignation but also expulsion from the party structures :) So I presume that British conservatism is rather about economy. However I read that Cameroon claim to be Protestant.

How many signatures are needed?

5000 to be registered in one election district. (out of 41) If you manage to do it in 21 election districts then they automatically register you in whole country. But of course you need to try to do it in every district and you must collect more because some may be questioned later. If mayor parties get donations from state budget then this is not problem for them. While small parties have a lot of problem especially if they officially oppose such donations like UPR.

Do you think the election result would have been different if smaller parties had more time to register?

I think that they could together collect about 4%. Mostly recently established Woman Party, a leftist project which immediately gained positive coverage of mainstream media and UPR which is rarely mentioned and if something then only in "bad" context. General results would be almost the same but these parties lost the opportunity of promotion in public media. Unfortunately we have "media democracy", because media create image of parties and certain politicians, chose subject of discussions during the debates and even who will represents certain party (if invited at all). Level of manipulations is horrific.

News / Predictions for Polish Presidential Candidates 2010 [23]

You must be joking, Pawlak is a disaster, political second league. I admit that these days he made some progress but he is not good material for serious politician. Phlegmatic person and very weak speaker. For average voters Pawlak is just boring and they switch TV channel if he appears.

I would not be so sure whether Kaczynski really want to be re-elected. PiS could select Zbigniew Ziobro who won rivalry in Krakow with his adversary from PO.

The rest of mentioned contenders are either non-serious or without proper political background. I think that Tusk would wish to try again.

News / Father Rydzyk: Any comments? [28]

I presume that those of you who want close down Radio Maryja don't listen it anyway. I do understand that communist censorial mentality is still deeply inside of many Poles, even those who consider themselves to be staunch anti-communists. This is the highest time for you to chose finally some way of thinking, either freedom of speech and democracy or censure and "people's democracy".

News / Father Rydzyk: Any comments? [28]

I will try to explain what is about RM. Some people here claim that this is mostly about politics and this betrays them, because this is obvious that they never bothered to listen to it themselves. I did try to check out what is about, some time ago I listened RM few days before I went to the bed. What I found out that they either praying or talking about religion/family all the time. One must really know the time of some political auditions to find it. Still this radio is a private property of the Redemporist order and nobody can tell them to abandon political activity (except some foreign leader of the order).

What is good about RM? Mostly elderly people listen to it and this radio giving them hope, some sense of living, an opportunity of activity on this field. They often have beautiful history, fighting against the Germans, opposing communist regime and in revenge they were simply robbed by the state. They worked whole life and now receiving ****** pensions while former communists otherwise.

So no matter how would the left demonize RM and try to close down or how much I personally disagree with them especially about economic issues I say that this is good tha they exist and i will always defend them against the enemies of the free speech.

What is more I congratulate Rydzyk his achievements, he started from zero. He was the first to broke the wall of media monopoly of post-communist elites ala Gazeta Wyborcza. Mainstream media giants just love to talk about "Rydzyk media empire", this is unbelievable hypocrisy. I hope that some day also conservative liberals will create such media tube.

and Poland is run by TVN, right? :)

By the way, this is funny how "Rzeczpospolita" daily plans to print English version magazine done by people from NYT. So the blind supporters of PiS want to print American "GW"!
