Travel / Polish Airports and Air industry are pathetic [32]

Well its nice to hear things will be changing

So you think that we should spend billions to make foreign visitors feel better ? Airports will be improved sooner or later, but when we need that, not "visitors".

Well, impressing visitors will mean more tourism, foreign investors etc. so more money for the country as well. But I agree that it shouldn't be done solely as a publicity stunt.

Travel / Polish Airports and Air industry are pathetic [32]

Well, in my opinion Polish airports are pathetic, just look at Warsaw International airport, its run-down and looks like a barn when compared to airports like Frankfurt IA. The airport is the first thing a visitor to a country sees and I bet he wouldn't be impressed with Polish airports' sorry state. With the Euro 2012 coming up, and the influx of visitors, its a shame that many might enter Poland with the impression that its still a poor, communist country. The Polish airline, LOT doesn't seem to be gaining popularity. However, I haven't been in Poland for a while so I wonder if things have or are going to change and I hope to hear your views on these matters.

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

Well she's (Catherine) not very popular in Poland I'm afraid, thanks to her partitioning act. Loads of other unpleasant stuff from their side make Russia pretty unpopular in Poland I guess

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

hmmmm

One think I can safely say for myself is that I love Germans when compared to Russians.

Too bad I don't know any Serbs to make a judgement about them :l ( sorry Crow :) )

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

Hmm, well I won't be able to give you an honest answer because I'm not living in Poland right now, however even where I am, our twins don't look very capable, hope it turns out otherwise though.

Personally, I do have certain bad stereotypes about Germans but I like them in general, I even find the two cultures quite similar :)

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

I see, so that's how it could have started. But why do you seem so anti-Polish? Your first post on this topic was pretty negative after all.

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

Strabo encountered Germanics ca. 400 A.D

That would make it 1607 years

Did you know that Tolkien's Middle Earth is firmly based on Germanic mythology, and that the Rohirrim culture as portrayed in the novel is clearly derived from the Anglo-Saxons

Tolkien's books were based on Celtic culture and Anglo-Saxon while the Rohirrim were based on Viking culture. But that's off the point.
Why the hate against Poles and Slavs?

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

we are several thousand years old already

Well 'several' generally means more than two, and more than 2000 years would be too exaggerated.

Even if Germans aren't that young as a people, why the ancient hate against Poles or Slavs in general. The Slavic culture isn't very young either and Polish people have most probably the most German blood in them (excluding of course the native Germanic peoples) and vice versa for Germany, due to the two countries' intertwined history.

Hmm, what about the stereotypes about Poles, do you think they are dissolving from the Germans' point of view or are they getting stronger?

For people or governments

Mainly for the people. Governments could always be hiding behind the diplomatic veil and may not show their true intentions although I think that the fact that the leaders are trying to work things out sounds pretty sincere :)

Life / How do Polish view others [116]

Well I guess I can't really blame Michal for saying Poland was in a crappy state in 1985, it was under Soviet rule, because if it wasn't then they wouldn't have revolted against the Soviets so often. However, since you are studying law, you should know that making a judgement about Poland based on data collected more that 20 years back is a fallacy and your low opinion of Poland would hold no grounds. As you said,

Time flies, 1985 is over twenty years ago...

and I sincerely hope you do live up to the second part of that sentence.

News / The Impact of Poland joining the EU [64]

Now that Poland is in EU, will more Polish Abroad Come back?

Now that Poland is in EU and growing fast, will more Poles abroad come back to Poland? Lot's of talent from Poland has emigrated thanks to Mr. Stalin and his communist takeover, will they come back now that the situation is getting better?

History / Video of polish soldier history [39]

Teashoci, the main reason why England did not get whooped be the Nazis is because the Germans lost the battle of Britain. Why? Definitely not because the Brits sat down and drank tea. The best squadrons during the BOB were the Polish squadrons (acknowledged by British pilots and statistics) including 303 which downed the most enemy aircraft during the BOB.

What was the point in poland fighting. After world war 2 they were ruled by the russians

Guess why Poland was ruled by Russians, because the Brits and Americans did not dare stand up against Stalin and so they just gave Poland away, like it was theirs to give in the first place.

I agree the English helped us, but they did it half-heartedly and they probably wouldn't have done it if their own skin and reputation were not at stake.

Life / Does anyone know about the Polish band Queens? [17]

well Queen is (or was) a British band that played rock. They're old guys now, with Freddie Mercury dead. they sang songs like "we are the Champions" and " We Will Rock You"
