Real Estate / Real estate in poland - how an average Pole can afford such prices? [78]

wujek thanks for your reply, I take issue with your comment that the average wage in poland is 2400zl.....what utter rubbish............more like 1200zl, the big fish are earning more ripping off polish people....taking out a loan .....sure.....how much ? what interest rates?.............not forgetting the high cost of living............sorry get your facts right. lef

I don't agree with your comments, poland by world standards is a poor country, with little commercial natural resources, I beg to differ about what the average person in poland earns, from my understanding most poles live from pay packet to pay packet with little left over, the prices of all products continue to rise, it becomes a impossible situation for the average pole to borrow big money from some swiss bank, I can only warn poles to be very carefull, as when the economic situation gets worse, those people who borrowed will loose all. I can only stress that the current prices of home is by far too high and when thinks settle down the prices will be reduced by half. ( I read that Moscow is the most expensive place to live- what a joke)

:)In reply to wujek, I would like to say "get your hand off it" and relax, because if one asks a question dosn't mean he is anti polish, You should be the first person to be aware of the difficult conditions facing day to day living in poland, Poles have unforfortunately a complex when it comes to being criticized and if fact are jealous if somebody has more than themselves (this is the product of the communist system).. my original question was a fair question to ask and your reply is that of a business man. Your smart arse and insulting comments towards Australia does you no good, please do not forget that Australia was always loyal and supportive of the Polish people in its struggle against communism and gave a lot of financial aid.

The poles are a great people and can be proud of their heritage, I belieive the tempo of the current move to a capitalist system is not good for the average pole. The new generation young pole who sets himself in this way of life ie money money money, will have destroyed everything good that has been given to him by his forefathers.

Let me assure you that there is plenty of soap and water in Australia as there are good people who want justice and a good way of life for the polish people

Life / Retire in Poland - Good or Bad Idea? [74]

It always comes back to a question of value for money, I feel the red tape is slowing going away, the issue now in poland is extreme poverty for some people and high incidents of crime and drug abuse... clearly law enforcement is getting better but nowhere to that of western standards.:)

Life / Retire in Poland - Good or Bad Idea? [74]

You're right. I know a few sad stories of some Poles who came back to Poland in the hopes of having a good and stress-free life. Most of them, unfortunately, died within a year or so after having come back. So it seems working until old is not that bad idea after all...

I know of may examples, one just recently who had a nervous breakdown and now is on medication.. some times previous good memories are differant in reliality. money cannot buy happiness

UK, Ireland / Marrying a Polish citizen in UK [24]

I agree with hi23 it would be true that 50% of poles in america at SOME POINT would be illegals (give or take).........in actual fact this suits the US economy ie people doing the worse type of jobs. This also suited poles who earned more money than in there native country. a polish worker could earn 4 times more doing the same job as in poland.

Things are now changing, however a skilled worker can earn much more overseas than in poland

News / World-wide and famous brands from Poland [41]

I think Poland should ban foreign ownership, in time poland will be owned by ameriican/jewish interest

I think what I saying is the truth, ,many years ago all the know polish brands where owned by the polish people, now they have bought out by overseas interest and have changed there brand name, let poland be poland, please stop overseas takeovers including names like nestle....like what they do in other countries these companies then work off shore like in china (cheap labour)

News / Poland in big development - what are the negative results? [37]

Poland is unfortuanately locked into the capitalist way of life which will ONLY benefit the business person, under communism the people in commmunist party were well off., now people who have a business will be doing well , all at the expense of the working class person... the EU countries will bleed poland dry. bring in mcdonalds, coca cola, etc and bring in the Mastercard

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

If I can add my two bobs worth, UNLESS you are living in Poland, buying a property is not a good investment in poland, Poland is still a third world country, and the current property boom is the work of big business. ie banks and lending institution.

quoting glowa.
one more thing. if you plan to buy a property, hurry up. the prices in cities like Gdansk or Warsaw already reach the same level as in Brussels in the European Quartier - and that's expensive

what utter nonsense comparing Gdansk to Brussels, when you compare earning from people from these countries.
There is a unwriting law in poland, one price for non poles and one for locals.

Could someone explain to me how a person on 1500zl a month can afford to pay a morgage of 500000zl

The best option is if you wish to live in poland, purchase a property in the country and either do it up, or build yourself.

The prices of homes will crash faster than they are currently growing..

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

Your a moron Wujek, please explain your answer, to make it viable investing a property in poland, you would need to get at least 5% return in rent.

a home worth 500000zl wouild need to return 25000zl per year which is 2083zl a month,
average take home in poland is 1400zl...I rest my case

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

Poles have a nature of having a house than there neighbour, I don't know why, homes are being built bigger and bigger...Has any thought of the amount of money need for heating and maintenance.

Unless you belong to the government, mafia or big business, it will be very hard to live on the average earnings of 1400zl a month

depends on the buying power of the polish zl in poland, I think the zloty is over priced and has a direct impact on polish standard of living.

Work / Pay, salary in Poland. [54]

If a polish worker was able to work in america and spend his money in poland he would indeed have a good life style...Living in america is not what it is cracked up to be....food is very expensive as are homes and accommodation.....americans enjoy cheap cars and petrol.

History / What if Poland was not in the socialist system? [36]

dream on wujek, you cannot compare poland pre ww2 and now, things have changed. for a country to be rich it must have a good infrastructure, nature resouces, and a income earner ie.. IT or tourism.....keep in mind that over 1 million poles are working overseas and are unable to have secure employment in poland....

A good judge of a countries economy is how much there is unemeployed and average worker earnings

Work / Pay, salary in Poland. [54]

you may be right if you live not in the capital citypoland is very expensive to live if you work in poland...I still believe that if poles stayed in poland and did not work overseas. poland would be a richer country,, the fact that poles are returning home with a fist full of dollars has put prices up a lot especially in real estate.

Poles who have been educated by the state should remain in poland

History / What if Poland was not in the socialist system? [36]

Poland is a third world country and will never catch up to western countries.

The current political situation is a disgrace, what a disgrace this bloke A Lepper is, he is the cause of many problems in Poland.........how can a person with so little political support command so much power.

The poles need to get their act together before they can talk about increasing GDP.

This may offend some people, but it is the absolute truth

Work / Pay, salary in Poland. [54]

rafik..lets call a spade a spade, sure prices in capital ciities will always be strong, keep in mind that the polish real estate market has just taken off and if heading in an unknown direction, it may continue to grow or it may stabilse..

remember [/i[i]]a property is worth only what a buyer is prepared to pay for it.

Remember it will do poland no good having foreign people own a lot of real estate and if polish home prices are high it will put the average pole out of reach of buying a house etc.

The price of homes should also relect what polish workers earn ie how could somebody afford a house worth say 400000zl and earns 2000zl a month, this is an impossibility.

Further factors to consider are

Political stability in poland
Corruption in poland
Climate ie having 8 months of cold/wet weather is not an attractive proposition(although weather in London is not much better)
and law enforcement (still very poor)
Huge cost associtated with heating.

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

glowa
take a magazine and see the prices.
I'm not comparing the cities but the prices per square meeter. it so happens, that I've spend last week in Poland and checked the matter, since I'm myself interested in investing in an appart in Brussels. and I can tell you, the prices are simillar.

people's earnings have nothing to do with it. WTF?

I here what you are saying, I probally agree that real estate in Warsaw/Krakow is worth looking into.. but keep in mind if you were forced to sell you may not recover what you have invested....in every country there are sought after locations which will always retain value. I don't believe homes in the country are worth investing in unless it is your full time residence.

A lot of poles have been brainwashed in thinking their homes are now worth a fortune, some are and most are not..

Bubbleberry a bit of advice let the buyer beware

Wujek_Dobra_Rada

This is part of Warsaw`s downtown now - from what you can see only the 3 skyscrapers on the right have existed 10 years ago:

Poland as compared to other countries has very little skyscrapers.

I carn't understand why poles use americans terms lik downtown let poland be poland and let poland be polish ....please don't be an american stooge.

Work / Pay, salary in Poland. [54]

how many people in poland earn 10000zl a month or for that matter 4000zl after tax,

I have visited poland 10 times in the last 20 years and sure thinks have improved it still lacks a lot....there is still unfortunately a lot of poverty in poland and sure some people have it very well and are able to eat out, the majority of poles struggle from week to week.

Poland from my understanding has not got award wages and workplace agreements and are at the mercy of the employer to be paid (if they are paid)

I must make a point that this is a discussion forum and people should have proper manners, I cannot understand the likes of Wujek who loves putting the boots in, and is self opinioniated.

We are not living in pre communist times, this is a free society.

if all was o/k why? are so many poles with master degrees etc leaving poland?
