Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

Yep, I can confirm that too. It's the society that creates the "myths"...

Love / What is expected of a man who wishes to propose to a lady in Poland? [35]

Hi Matt,

First of all, congratulations! :) Second, I think it depends on the family. If they are very conservative, getting on one knee and asking the father first would be appropriate. However, most Polish families are not very conservative anymore so you should be safe :). Nowadays, I feel, young people tend to do it between themselves first and then they announce it to the family. But if she's close to her family, it might be a good idea to prepare a good dinner and propose. I suggest Sunday as Sunday is a holy day for Polish people and any other day might not be so well received.

Of course, it is very nice (I'd say very recommended) that you get on your knee and grand her a ring. It doesn't have to be "big" - I don't think the size matters:).

I may come up with other comments maybe later. Maybe other members have other ideas or thoughts.

News / Polish Email Problem [25]

The bounce was from the PO< The Postmaster>

I would try to email the party in question using a different email account (when you currently use hotmail for example, try yahoo or gmail); sometimes Polish anti-spam software treats your email as spam. It happened many times to me and using an alternative email account usually worked.

Yes,

poczta.onet.pl

is correct for sure (I used to have an email account with them too). If you could copy-paste the bounced message (I assume it's in Polish) maybe I could investigate a little further ;)

j has an additional . on top giving the impression of being a colon

If that's the case, I would try to simply type-in "j" :)

News / Polish Email Problem [25]

Here are all the letters of the Polish alphabet (make sure to select: Central European (ISO) encoding to see the proper letters; to do this, you need to select: VIEW+ENCODING from the menu of your web browser):

a ą b c ć d e ę f g h i j k l ł m n ń o ó p r s ś t u w y z ź ż

However, I don't think the Polish special characters (letters with a line over the letter or "next" to the letter) are allowed when sending an email. So when you see "ą", you should type in "a", for "ń" you should type in "n" etc.

Travel / Tatry Mountains Poland / First Snow [29]

I had lived in Tatry for a number of years. It is a very beautiful place. If you like active lifestyle, that is the place to be. Lots of hiking, skiing, biking, walking, jogging, etc. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Poland, so it gets very crowded during vacation and holiday seasons. If it snows, there are many skiing sites to choose from - easy to very advanced, but there are few sites that produce snow independently from the natural snowfall.

Generally speaking, people love the area for its beauty and it is well worth it.
