Genealogy / Can the Church in Poland help geneology search? [8]

well, thank you all for helping me.
Josef Surowiec came to America, arriving november 11,1905.his date of birth was march 19,1886 OR 1887.his brother, antoni, arrived April,1905.Josef was single,Antoni was married.

I seek anything about either,(would prefer something about Josef.) and thought contacting the Church might work...
There are two Goworowo's? Im not sure which one.I have an old letter written from the post office of goworowo, from the city Wulka Brzezinska.

does that tell which one?
dave

oh,surowiec is how both of "the boy's" spelled there names.but on his naturalization papers,Josef was 'Surowiez',and Antoni was 'Sirowiecz'.

But on all other papers from their lives, and on their tombstones, Surowiec

History / History of Poland which was "absorbed" by Russia [9]

I have the immigration papers for my Grandfather's brother, but not my Grandfather, although I expect to have those within a month... the papers for Grandpa's brother say,he came from Russia, but was of Polish decent.

In family history, the towns of Goworowo and Goworowek both came up,but I cant find them on any map.I'm guessing they were on he border.

History / History of Poland which was "absorbed" by Russia [9]

okay,I could have found this out by reading a History book, but figured this would be quicker.
I have been told, there was a time Poland was 'absorbed' by Russia, and thus, didn't exist.
My Grandfather was,I was always told,Polish. But it is looking like he came from Russia.
I need a brief history of the border between Poland and Russia.
and thank you.
