Life / To all of you who are Polish - where did you learn English? [64]

School, music, watching BBC & British series, American movies, etc..

Here foreign stuff is subtitled, it's a great thing to understand & learn English, if you watch TV & it's all dubbed.. :(

I remember in Poland all the TV stuff was dubbed by 1 & the same voice lol, but that's years ago, don't know if it's still the same

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

Quoting: James4u
I am sick of hearing that immigrants are good for the economy! Whose ecomomy? Certainly not for those British workers whose wages are being forced lower and lower,

If you'd get more British youths & 45+ people working you wouldn't need to invite Poles to the UK. Because that's exactly what happened, they didn't came there themselves all of a sudden, they allowed them to come because they needed them badly. It's in part thanks to them that your country can grow economically.

If you want less foreign workers in your country, have more Brits work. Simple. Slight problem though, the British chav youths would rather stay at home smoking pot & playing PS2 on their 20th birthday than to wake up every day at 7am. That's why you have Poles, Africans & Chinese. They work their asses off while sending half the cash to their family so lil' Jonnie can relax & watch the footie.

Yes, I'm generalising, not all chavs are on the dole. -I know-. But you get the point.

k-thx-bai.

News / What do Poles think about the newly elected French president? [30]

I am happy that right wing won in France to long socialism politics lead France

Actually the right wing has been in power for 12 years now in France.

I am curious if that would have any impact on Poland.

I don't think so, altough he's a different character than Chirac it's basically the same party & the same direction on the political spectrum. Newly elected presidents tend to do lots of travelling abroad in their first year, maybe we'll see him in Poland soon?

Love / Polish ladies seem to be in high demand at the moment. [105]

Southern, I've read about what you said to Miranda & others & why you ask those questions. But some of the are really self-explanatory.. I mean take "Are Polish girls attracted to younger or to older men?" You ask if girls 18-25 could have boyfriends 30-35.

You never have to have visted Poland or any other country to know that's perfectly possible. Can you feel attracted to a girl 10 years younger? 10 years older? (depending on your age, I'm sure it can) We can be attracted to both younger & older females than us, don't know why it would be otherwise for girls. :)

Can I ask you something? Am I mistaken if I say you're a man between 30 & 35 years old looking for a young Polish girl between 18 & 25 to marry her, preferably the marriage would come in a short term period after you got together. You'd rather have the girl to take care of the household & raise the children?

Am I getting near? Cold? Hot? Imo, I'm burning my hands on a stove..

Love / I cheated on my girlfriend (I'm British, my gf is Polish) [167]

All musli countries allow polygamy because it is based on the coran.

No they don't ffs. I said secular countries. If you don't know what it means , look it up. Basically, a theocracy is the opposite of a secular state.

A country based on the Qu'ran cannot be a secular country! Turkey is a secular country (if you'd followed the news lately, there have been a couple of millions or Turks protesting against upcoming prime minister Gul as they are afraid to lost their secular state, women in Turkey were allowed to vote in 1914, women in Europe weren't allowed to vote until after the 2nd WW. Reality check.) A link to Article #2 of the Turkish constitution ookgm.meb.gov.tr/Mevzuat_htm/Anayasa.htm

Maleysia, a muslim country, is a secular state (That means it's not based on any book

Indonesia (the biggest muslim country in the world) is a secular country..

Polygamy is prohibited Tunisia, Morocco, etc.. Their constitution is based on old French / English code of law. (Era of colonialism) not on the Quraan

In those countries polygamy is banned by law Please don't post crap such as "All musli countries allow polygamy because it is based on the coran.Exception is Turkey where you can have not more than three wives." if you clearly have no idea what the hell you're talking about, you just keep spreading the prejudices.

If you have more of such comments about how polygamy is allowed in "all muslim countries" please post them, I'd be happy to rip them to shreds.

Some rich Arabs rent russian or european girls for their harems.

Harems? Do you still live in the 16th century? Besides that has nothing to do with the subject. What you describe is called "prostitution" is a different issue/problem altogether.

Marriages between mormons leading to polygamy are not recognized by recent decision of american court.

They're not, but it's still the epicentre of polygamy in this day & age.

Love / I cheated on my girlfriend (I'm British, my gf is Polish) [167]

Arabs have 3 wifes abd they consider it to be normal, they cannot see anything bad in this fact, because they are surranded by a culture where everybody else have 3 wifes. so as u can see morality is a realy realative thing. Dont know if u understand what i mean hhehehe

The overly majority of Arabs have 1 wife.

Most Arab / Islamic states do not consider it normal. Polygamy is prohibited by law in many secular Arab/muslim countries such as Tunisia or Morocco. Some countries ruled by fundamentalists such as Lybia, the UAE or Saudi Arabia still allow it.

They are not surrounded by a culture where "everybody" has 3 wives.

The epicentre of polygamy is not the Arab world but the christian church of the latter day saints (also known as Mormons) in the USA. Especially in Utah & surrounding states.

Life / Bad opinion about Polish people - rumour or the truth? [90]

"Dear mom,

I have arrived in Barcelona. The weather is really nice. The food is really good. Thank you for the scarf. People like to fondle my family jewels through my pocket. Say hi to dad for me.

History / Jews...and their Polish experience [520]

Oh so now we are listening to "eye witnesses" on facts?

What could be more factual than actual eye witnesses? How do you think some people get proven guilty & convicted in a court of law?

I'm sorry to hear about your experiences then and that it has changed your views about Polish people. No one hates the Polish criminals more than the Poles themselves as they give us this kind of reputation abroad.

Cheers

Unfortunately i've made similar experiences in Warsaw. I know it's not the whole folk to be blamed for it and it could happen in any other country but it did happen over here. Sorry guys don't mean to put you down.

It happened to me in Poland as well.. and I'm Polish ;)

Basically as a tourist, all the usual applies: Don't look like a tourist. Don't get lost in shady neighbourhoods. Watch for pickpockets in crowded places like metros.

Sorry to hear about it Joan.

History / Jews...and their Polish experience [520]

I'm not a historian or sociologist, I wouldn't know the definite answer.

I travelled a lot & I've lived in different European countries & I have a lot of friends from all around the world. No one considers Poland as the biggest anti-semitic country in the world.

However there have been articles in the past about anti-semitism in Poland, or when Kwasniewski visited Jedwabne or Radio Maryja being hateful towards jews. We do get those kinds of information once in a while.. I read 2 papers every day & I'd have to think really hard when it was the last time I read an article about it though.

All I can say is that children here are thaught of the sacrifice people have made to protect jews from the Nazis, including Eastern Europe, I'd have to dig up my school papers but it's defnitly there :). It's not uncommon to make field trips to Auschwitz either.

Do you have an article or source about Israel wanting to make Poland responsible for the Holocaust? I'd like to read up on that.

History / Jews...and their Polish experience [520]

I read the entire thread & I'm no intrested in complaining. I've been educated my entire school life in Western Europe & I've been thaught about the sacrifices of Europeans to save jewish lives. Those of Poles as well. So when someone says the W-Europeans aren't aware of it, I beg to differ. 0.02c

Life / Why to live in Poland? [21]

Is there any political censorship in India? If so, do the numerous cases of brutal persecutions of Christians there have to do with your censorship?

Source please.

History / Jews...and their Polish experience [520]

who wants to forget that so little western Europeans, has helped Jews during II world war.

There are tons of examples of Western Europeans who've helped jews.. From my experience in this part of Western-Europe I could name Anne Frank hiding in Amsterdam, jewish children being given a new identity & hidden in Antwerp & Brussels, the nuns in Bruges & northern France hiding refugee jews.

Another conspiracy theory?

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

So folks like you complain about the Poles, because your BBCs, ITVs, and similar brainwashing pathological hateful liars and psychos keep the Poles in the spotlight while keeping quiet about those others.

I wonder who's the psycho..
