Life / Is English taught in schools in Poland? [14]

But I can't imagine anyone getting to the skill levels that that I have seen after only a few years of study. Unless those studies are rigorous and super intense!

Of all the poeple I met in Poland, they say the hardest part of english is all the slang terminology we use in the states. After learning in school and then talking to an american it screws them up some.

I do not know about in the schools, but it is in there colleges. For example, if you are taking engineering, you have to take so much english. English is concidered to be the dominante language thru out the engineering world.

Genealogy / Warsaw Poland, did citizens have to have a passport in 1933-1945 [4]

Passports started to become popular with countries in the early 1900's. It was not really widely untill after ww1. The leauge of Nations and later the United Nations after WW2 reall started to put these into effect. So chances are they did have to have a passport. And yes they were called passports. I do not know where they would of been obtained or where you could find a listing. But you might want to ask the passport divison or go ask the post office!

History / Poland has paid £68 Million for helping UK in WW2 [168]

I have come to learn how much the Poles adore statistics!!.
Poland was totally defeated in the war....So they have managed to invent endless statistics to explain why they were totally defeated!!

I do not remember seeing any polish statistics on poland being totally defeated. All goverments love statistics for some stupid reason, and most of the time they do not mean ****, or are later proved wrong. Just like you are wrong below.

Because I know the real reason Britain doesn't speak German is thanks to the Royal Navy, Radar, and that....

If britian did so much navy, radar and such, why were they begging the U.S to enter the war? Britian did ****!!!

Life / 16 year old boy in krakow - what to expect? [7]

Robert, don't worry about the bars/pubs or beer at 16. You should be more worried about girls your age.

When you do start to go to pubs, do not drink something called a crazy dog! It'll tear you up jr.

Food / need a mushroom soup recipe [15]

I was in Katowice last year. I had a extremely good mushroom soup. The lady at the resterant was kind enough to right down the ingredients, but not the amounts. Seeing they made it in the resterant it would of been to much to make just for a couple of bowls. The following is what she wrote down.

Onions, butter, consume, borowik (prawdziwek)
Can anyone help?
