Life / Polish people living in Poland, How do you see your future? [37]

remember there are many ways to skin a cat

diversify my friend.

1. Real-Estate
2. Stocks and Mutual Funds
3. Bonds

I doubt if Polish people living in other countries will drop what they are doing and be on the next flight to Poland to secure a investment property bargain

if your ROI (Return on Investment) is higher then in U.S.A. or Canada or Australia then why not?

I'm very sure sure the smart business person is now making his money elsewhere>

Poles now invest in Russia and the Ukraine

But how is it possible that the prices will be "a lot higher" since now they are as high as in the US??

i don't believe that prices in Poland are equal to U.S.A yet. However prices in HOT places like Sopot are out of this world.

there are a number of things in Poland that are more expensive then in U.S.A

1. jeans
2. shoes
3. cars
4. jackets
5. gas/petrol
6.computers
7. tents
8. ovens
9.shavers

Life / What makes you proud to be Polish? [150]

some of us Poles might be thieves, drunks and schemers (kombinatorzy) but i am still proud to come from Poland.
instead of Rodak maybe you should call yourself zdrajca (traitor)

Your not saying Witek that the money is not worth sending now because of the low dollar,

A few years back the USD = approx 4 zl , today it is 2.75 zl

if you sent $2000 before = $8000 zl

today that $2000 = $ 5500

also before prices were cheaper in Poland

Agreed, there are still a few crumbs left on the table worth going for!

as Poland's economy improves and wages and standard of living improve then real-estate prices will continue to rise.

what will real-estate prices be in 20 years in Gdansk or Warsaw?

the answer is a lot higher.

still expect the immigrants to send parcels to Poland

usually people send $$$. but with the U.S. dollar = 2.75 zl , then the money you send is not worth as much as it was before.

my friend's mother got an offer of $3,000,000 zl for her mansion outside of Warsaw but turned it down as it was not enough $$$

people in Poland are becoming millionares. the time to buy property in Poland was in the early 1990's. one man i know bought resedential land in the early 1990's in a city and divided it into over 300 lots that he is now selling.

I'm not proud to be Polish at all.

we don't need traitors like you. please take a English surname, forget your Polish mother tongue and never set a foot on Polish soil.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

Yes the Poles did discover how the Enigma Coding Machine worked, but it was the British who actually broke the codes

July 25, 1939, before the war began, the Polish intelligence provided Great Britain and France with one copy each (with necessary documents) of the German coding machine “Enigma” that allowed to read the secret German messages. A team of Polish cryptologists was evacuated to France, later on to England, where a special center for monitoring and decoding was organized in Bletchley Park. The Polish “Enigma” played a significant role, especially during the Battle of Britain, Battle of the Atlantic and the invasion of the continent in 1944. Other Polish scientists and technicians evacuated to England have to be mentioned as well. The electronics specialists helped with creating the submarine detection system (HFDF – High Frequency Direction Finding). The Polish engineers constructed the reversible tank periscope and an anti-aircraft cannon, with tens of thousands of which the British troops were equipped

Immigration should be ceased immediately, no one can justify bring immigrants here whilst we have people on benefit, unless there is a skill shortage in a particular area.

is it our problem you Brits are too lazy to work?

News / Are there any other countries that Polish immigrants are going to? [70]

Canada I couldnt tell you about.my friend who lives in London, she always told me
good things about Canada, made me even want to move there :)

canada is a nice country. many lakes and wildlife. but it is also a little boring.

from mexico, south America. They bring with them heavy drugs
into America, I think if a man or woman wants to come, to find a job, improve then
yes, but smuggling drugs etc, stay in your own F-up country

Patrycja most Mexicans in America work very hard, they do construction, factory work, lawn care and pick the fruit you eat.

News / Are there any other countries that Polish immigrants are going to? [70]

But the USA still remain a popular destination because of "American Dream" & the big Polish community over there

i've met many Polish people in Chicago who are returing to Poland to invest $$$ or going to Ireland to work construction for better wages.

Also Poles are legal in Ireland and England and they can fly from London to Warsaw for the weekend.

Travel / Irish/Brits banned from hotels in Warsaw [43]

Also regarding the Poles, your point is again very accurate. A lot of young Polish guys over here think they're Al Capone, wannabe gangsters.

all young Poles want is to have your Irish standard of living.

time to move aside DannyBoy
