Australia / Accommodation in Melbourne [22]

i just find it strange that people go to the effort of posting such stuff on a blog if they really dont like where they are living.

I found that pretty weird, too, and many of the posts are really annoying and ignorant. Often to the point where they actually start to be funny. Try #749 for example.

I wasn't offended by your post, and I'm from Oz. Don't know about King Sobieski though.

Is that a rhetoric question?

King Sobieski's question wasn't rhetoric I guess, he's actually given you a very Australian answer. In essence he's telling you "to bugger off if you don't like it". ;)

Don't get offended by this website

Looks familiar (look at #48 of that blog for example). Was that the Aussie version of PF...? <g>
Very entertaining, thanks for the link, mate.

History / The Battle of Vienna - Poland helped save Europe [57]

Personally i whole heartedly forgave Germany and hope for a better mutual future

I don't believe you. Why then did you claim that Europe would be better off "if every German man, woman and child got killed post WW2". That's a total contradiction.

Sokrates
I suggest you crawl back in your cave. And while you're at it, change your nick to Neanderthal, please. Thank goodness there's only a tiny minority of Poles which is as braindead as you are.

are capable of behaviour

Who are you that you are entitled to show such extreme prejudice against one people based on something that happened a long time ago? Did you grow up during the war? Have you seen all those atrocities as an eye-witness? Were you personally involved? Or were you just taught to think this way? By whom?

Sorry man, but your attitude is so much backward - I'm speachless.

Turks they're more civilized than Germans

Repeat that a few more times and the Germans will be more than happy to send those civilized Turks and Kurdish people over to Poland...

History / Polish contribution to England during war [62]

if you do not have opinion on this subject and just complain...

Marek, we DO have an opinion, although it's one you and wzgrza don't agree to. Maybe Tornado2007 was right when he said "however people just keep denying i have a point or refuse to believe i've made it in the first place"?

Most of these threads are started by different people

Most of these threads are started by the same people... ;)

...and nothing to do with living in the past

Well, that's a point I see differently.

History / Polish contribution to England during war [62]

Some people like to remember history and discuss it?

The same topics over and over and over again?

Would you say the same thing if an American started a thread

Of course, I would - or an Australian for that matter. Take a closer look at my initial post and you will notice that I was also questioning ANZAC Day.

You guys notice it...

See above. We're on a Polish forum, so yes, in this case I'm questioning the Polish obsession with the past.

History / Polish contribution to England during war [62]

you think England would be defeated if it was not for Polish soldiers

What I will probably never fully understand is, why all this seems to be so important to Polish people (or should I say Polish politicians?) almost 65 years after the end of WW2. Like ANZAC Day at home - never got it why anyone would give a hoot about this stinking part of history. Remembering? Yes! Living in the past? No!

Love / Traditional wedding rings in Poland [11]

So it's the same as in Germany? The engagement ring goes on your left hand, the wedding ring on the right?

Love / Proposing to my Polish girlfriend [33]

Supposedly, a nice engagement ring should cost in the range of a three-month salary

You're an American girl, one can tell... ;)

When we talk of Russians we actually mean the Soviet Red Army

Yes, of course.

And, it is also debatable how long Hitler could have occupied and kept control of an area the size of the USSR.

I agree. Although we would probably see a different picture if the Nazis would have refrained from slaughtering the locals.

Thankfully, it's all speculation anyway. Although I'm still convinced that the outcome of the war would have been completely different without Britain.

As you know, the USSR was heavily supported by the USA during the war. I very much doubt that the Americans would have done that without Britain being at war with the Germans. So there is a good chance that the Russians would have lost against the Nazis, don't you think?

He would go west anyway.

Maybe he would have finished off France because of the Treaty of Versailles, but I'm pretty sure that he wouldn't have touched Britain. Hitler wasn't interested in a war with the UK.

Rubbish. Almost 9 out of every 10 Germans killed in WW2 were killed by the Red Army.

How can you be so certain that the attack on the USSR would have taken place? Maybe Hitler would have stopped after the occupation of Poland, who knows?

No Britain at war with Germany, no Poland - simple as that.
