Work / Job Opportunity for Non Polish speakers in Warsaw [27]

You still dont get it do you

(Sighs)! I'm sorry but I think it is you who doesn't get it. You've posted utter rubbish on this thread so far (in amongst your various rants and profanities).

Id just like to know why you are running an employment agency in Poland who are recruiting for companies in the UK

You clearly have no idea how modern business works - this is called offshoring and the practice has been around for years now. Modern technology means that it is now possible for people to work remotely from anywhere in the world. Cost is quite obviously a factor in companies offshoring, but anyone who isn't already aware of this must have been living on the Moon for the last 5 years. Quite simply, employing resource in Poland is a cheaper option than employing in the UK and like most organisations in the current climate, we are are trying to best manage our expenditure right now.

So back to the point of the thread, anyone who is interested - please feel free to get in touch.

Work / Job Opportunity for Non Polish speakers in Warsaw [27]

I couldnt give a flying phuck about the person going to work in Poland

In that case why bother yourself with this post.

Go into any high street agency in the UK and you will often find they advertise for German, French, Spanish etc, etc speakers for a whole multitude of jobs. This is the same principle.

Work / Job Opportunity for Non Polish speakers in Warsaw [27]

Hi All. Not been around for a while but thought I'd drop a note to see if the forum can help me with something. My company are looking for an HR/Recruitment consultant to work in Warsaw. There is no job requirement for the successful applicant to be able to speak Polish. Although the role is based in Warsaw, the role will solely be dealing with a client within the UK market - hence Polish is not required. If you have previous HR and/or Recruitment experience and are interested then feel free to PM me for more details.

Travel / How reliable are the trains in Winter? [4]

So how reliable are they? I mean if there is a lot of snow, are they often subject to delays? I travel weekly between Krakow and Warsaw so would be good to know if I could expect disruptions.

Life / Scientology in Poland [24]

Is it this one?

Thanks PolskaDoll, think this is the one :)

never mind Tom Cruise and John Travolta

Talking of John Travolta, see link. His son who recently passed away was suspected of having autism but scientology doesn't even recognise this as a condition. How fcuked up is this religion!

Work / Can an American in Poland on a tourist visa freelance? [7]

is it legal for me to do contracted work IN Poland FOR a Polish company but THROUGH my American company while here on a tourist visa?

What does your visa say? I would have thought a tourist visa wouldn't permit this.

Life / Scientology in Poland [24]

When they start talking to you on the street, just walk on and ignore them

Too true. What amazes me is the fact that they charge for membership (or access to higher levels of information) and they consider themselves a religion!

Life / Scientology in Poland [24]

freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1815661/posts
I read an article recently here it spoke about Scientology coming to Poland - I think back in 2007 or something? I personally think this is a pretty mixed up, aggressive and rather nasty religion but I was intrigued to know if anyone has had any experience with the Church of Scientology particularly here in Poland?

The church of scientology, a political and religious group accused of mind control and embezzlement has opened its mission in Poland and is working unofficially, recruiting and training new members. Radosław Gruca, a journalist of the Dziennik daily has managed to infiltrate the organization:

'I've managed to get into the first under cover organization, called in the scientologist language "I-help" and I did a few scientologist courses. I was told that you can be a Catholic and scientologist at the same time, which is untrue, because they believe in reincarnation, past life and aliens - this is all pretty weird.'

Life / POLISH MOBILE NUMBERS-WHICH NETWORK [13]

Do I have to sign up for a fixed contract with all of them?

No, each offers a non contract package/s or pay as you go schemes. Each provider has different benefits. I.E. certain number of free SMS's, cheap calls abroad, free calls to certain numbers etc. You will just need to see which is best for you.

You will be able to go into most mobile phone shops and buy a pre-paid SIM card for your chosen network.

Food / Popular drink shots in Poland? [28]

If you get drunk enough you can get a "Stuntman". The bartender will usually give it to you for free just because you were either brave enough or dumb enough to take one. It is like a regular Tequila shot except you take the salt align it in a line on the table, snort it, take the Tequila shot and squirt the lilme in your eye

Also known as a Tequila Suicide

Life / Getting married in Polska - some advice required about mixing traditions [27]

I was watching a mates wedding video the other day. He is Australian and his wife is Polish. They married a few months ago in Krakow. I didn't watch all of the video but it seemed like they found a good balance between the two traditions. For example, they did do speeches and a close Polish friend of theirs helped with the translation - these were well received and seemed to go down very well with everyone. Also, they didn't just offer vodka on the table but also provided wine. They used popular songs which despite being mostly in English were known by all. At the same time, they also had some more traditional Polish music to keep it varied.

I think the girlfriend and I when we get hitched, would do something similar. For example, I know my girlfriend likes the idea of her father walking her down the isle and not seeing each other the night before the wedding etc which I understand isn't commonly done in Poland.

So I think with the right planning, mixing the traditions can make for a really great and unique wedding experience.

My girlfriend has started suffering with allergies just this summer in Krakow. Had never been a problem for her before.

Is there such a thing as an animal/safari park in Poland rather than a zoo? I always think these make for better surroundings for the animals.

Law / Restaurant/Motel 60 KMS outside of Warsaw - Good or Bad Idea? [5]

Well I was thinking of anyone who is leaving the city and wants to stop for a good meal and cheap place to sleep. As well as any people coming into the city needing to take a break from driving.

If you're only 60km out of Warsaw then what is the likelyhood of someone stopping? Surely if you are that close to Warsaw, you would carry on driving into the city! Similarly, if you had not long left the city would you really want to stop after such a short drive?

However, I can also see the benefits. Some people may not want to eat/sleep in Warsaw and this may be more suitable for them. Having somewhere out of the city with less hustle and bustle might be more appealing.

I've seen I few hotels, motels, restaurants like this on the outskirts and around some other cities so I guess the concept works. I would advise making contact with some other places around the country in similar locations to see if they would be prepared to share some information with you.

Law / Polish emergency passport [12]

How a Polish citizen could even apply for a visa to visit own country ?? That's nonsense.

I was about to say the same. I find it hard to believe that this is true. Forgive my ignorance, but don't you need a passport to get a visa? And sorry, but isn't giving a Polish visa to a Polish person a bit of a nonsense! Just give the damn emergency passport.

News / ARS cinema in Krakow [9]

even the crappy little screens where you sit in IKEA chairs

As far as cinematic experiences go, ARS is not the best but it has a certain charm. I like the fact the projection equipment is a bit dated & cranky and you sit on Ikea chairs. It's different and I liked it.

News / ARS cinema in Krakow [9]

Anyone ever been to the ARS cinema (I think this is what it is called) in Krakow centre before? Went there for the first time the other day. What a cool place this is. I love all the new multiplex cinemas but it as nice to watch a movie in an old cinema. Took me back to when I when I was younger. Anyway, just wanted to say that if you haven't been, it's definately worth going just to enjoy a bit of nostalgia.

How the hell do you roll your R's?
