what does it have to do with tax payers?

As for the ID, I don't know why polish government always has to make things more complicated.ALWAYS and usually with EVERYTHING.

Language / Do you think there is something like Warsaw accent ? [29]

Yes, there is a dialect in Warsaw. Do not the Poles in Warsaw say something like lodówkie for a lodówka? I am lucky as I have nothing Warsaw about me at all!!

I suggest you learn some english grammar so that you become more understandable, since, to be honest, I don't know what you're on about in the second sentece.

As for dealing with one phoneme or two, it's hard for me to understand how lazy can people be.

Language / Do you think there is something like Warsaw accent ? [29]

but only the southerners do it the easy way

Because it's the proper way!
I'm highly allergic to people who can't speak their language well. And it's not only about pronounciation but also using right collocations, let alone writing without mistakes. The worst thing is when I read an article written by somebody who's far from being a "journalist" or hear a person on the radio who can't speak properly. It makes my blood boil.

the southerners say 'czy'. that's what i find anyway, otherwise i see no difference :/

Yeah!I've noticed the same! But the worst thing, is that they write as they hear which is terrible when you are to read a text message including "czy".

Do you think there is something like Warsaw accent ?

Not a Warsaw one, but an accent typical for people who live in the centre of Poland. I believe that this part of the country doesn't have an accent at all! We can hear people from other parts of Poland pronouncing words in a partciular way, however I don't think it refers to inhabitants of Warsaw nor their neighbours.

Love / Appreciated presents for polish girls [35]

But men do not care much about presents.

My man does care, that's why i always have a problem what to get him.Anything flashy and electric, you say?Anything means nothing unless you provide examples, since we all know that people are different and very fussy.

An attractive cigar-smoking female who is 'equal-enough' and confident enough to pay her share of the nights entertainment. Hopefully she can talk some physics as well.....

It's not a Christmas present to be left under a Christmas tree, is it?

at least you have some things to choose from!
Think about women who are to buy a christmas gift for their boyfriends/husbands/dads, whatever. That's way more difficult.

Law / Polish Bank account? UK resident applying for permanent residency in Poland. [5]

BenNovice
Have you got a visa card?If yes, then you can withdraw money from any polish cash machine.Of course you pay for that, but not much, depending on the amount withdrawn and on the uk bank. However, I reckon you won't need more than, say, 500 zlotys, and then the commission fee is something like 5 pounds. At least in Barclays Bank.

Lately, you've been posting lots of similar things on this forum. My advice is simply to get yourself a teacher who would explain it all to you.

Love / Appreciated presents for polish girls [35]

I usually give pieniądze.

Can't you think of something better?People who are lazy give money as a gift.
Perfumes-only when you're sure about the scent she'd like.
Cosmetics-not necessarily those for make-up, but maybe a body lotion?
Instead of clothes you can purchase a gift card which is getting more and more popular among Polish people.Just need to know which store she likes best.

Underwear-err... I wouldn't count on guy's taste, unless he's a bit gay lol Otherwise, they usually get something similar to what prostitues wear.Again:you need to know what size she has and what kind of underwear she prefers to wear, i.e.what colour, what fabric, whether she likes frills for a special occasion or maybe just something plain to wear under casual clothes.

Personally, I'd go for the gift card.

Language / Need affectionate terms for Ania.. [23]

Aniołek or Aniołku are both good. I prefer the latter.

They sound okay, but so many people use those terms! I'd rather sound more original and I actually have a few nicknames for my bf.Or I simply call him by his name.

"Misiu", "Kochanie", "Słoneczko", etc. sound so pretentious.

Let me think...
Aneczka
Anusia/Aniusia (or my mate who's called by her peers "Anusiak"-who's watched "Włatcy Móch, knows what I mean)

Aniula

can't think of more...

UK, Ireland / Poles working and living in the UK [25]

Cameron
Right...and what's your point?I'm sorry, but "I worked(...)" implies that you don't work in London anymore, but then you write that you're still there. So are you still in London?

In my humble opinion, British people don't hate Poles at all. Due to world's crisis n job losses in Britain they have to put the blame for unemployment on somebody, and they usually blame the Polish for that. Because there are many of us over there, because we work over there, because we learnt how to claim benefits...

However, I've met many Britons in my life during my stay in the UK and nobody has ever said anything bad about "us" as people. Sometimes, they would laugh that there are so many of us in England, but that's it. Not a sign of hatred towards Poles.

Life / Why do Polish people celebrate the name day? [11]

salsa
name day is usually celebrated more often when you hit your forties, fifties, sixties... and you're not so eager anymore to tell the world how old you are, but you still want to have a party, invite your family and friends to have some fun.

Travel / The best place to exchange GBP in Warsaw? [10]

i would definitely suggest airports, because you still have to pay more for a pound and you still get more for it too. at least it usually happened when i was exchanging money.

Language / Ambiguous words? [całkiem and zapewne] [9]

First thing that came to my mind is that "całkiem" i usually folowed by an adjective.so u can say całkiem- what? : for instance: możliwe, prawdopodobne.calkiem can mean not enirely, whereas "zapewne" you use in a different context. to me, "zapewne" can start a sentence or appear in a sentence on it's own.it means "probably". i'm not an expert in this field, but i hope i explained a bit.this is how i understand the difference between those two words.

Love / Are Polish women too controlling? [106]

Krystal
I'm sure it doesn't depend on nationality. we, of course, can say that women from some countries are more likely to behave like u mentioned than from other, but stating that we think we can do whatever we want is complete nonsense!

UK, Ireland / Poland vs. UK - how the manners differ [48]

A good ladette will swill beer at the same rate as the lads.

so true!
But I've noticed something similar in Poland. But girls here, instead of drinking beer, take shots of vodka. As quick as their male friends. Sometimes they can even drink more vodka than their male friends !

Love / Are Polish women too controlling? [106]

Mira, would you parade around pantless as balkanpower suggests? I doubt it!

Not really :) But that's me and Balkan power may be partly right, because some women really enjoy themselves walking pantless and in mini skirts.

Just like Britney Spears.Last year she would notoriously have photos taken of herself by paparazzi without underpants AND in mini skirt.

Balkan power
i beg to differ!
some of them do.

Yeah,yeah.Sekstouristky.

that's a funny thing to say!Because actually you can call girls from any nation like that during the summer time! I recommend a lecture of british girly magazines during the summertime.lots of articles about "how a girl got drunk, lost her friends at a party and had sex with, for example,a spaniard" or how british women come to ibiza and have sex with newly met guys.

yeah.polish women.sex turystki.

Love / "All because the lady loves a foreign accent..." [19]

I met a guy the other night, and dear god if he'd said the phrase "you say me" one more time I would have raped him on the spot :D

:)!
I like English accent, but not the londonish one though.I know that in London they've got four different dialects anyway, but none of them sounds nice to me.

I also like american accent, esp. the one from chicago, but listened to live, if you know what i mean. it sounds different in movies.

are polish women too controlling

right, for me you're rather obsessed with the whole 'polish woman" thing.your gf checks your txt messages, she is too controlling and because of her you turn to pf to ask those questions.sort yourself out with a psychologist maybe or simply dump that girl.

and the answer to your question is: no, not necessarily.to be honest, i don't know about girls from other countries, but many polish girls are perfectly normal and don't feel the need to control their boyfriends.
