Food / Good Polish Wines [74]

In the past we have invented first crude Brandy. It was much hoter in Poland in 1000 AD.

Now when climate changes and Poland has more opportunities...

We have some very good wines.

wine

From south east (100 new vineyards) in my opinion they have the best wines in Poland.

wine

You can get them in Polish restaurants. In 2009 there was plan to enter wider market.

In south west there are new initiatives as well

Life / A trip to a Polish supermarket [136]

UP DATED:

I have wondered how well this works? For example...fruits and vegetables are usually horrible quality at most places and you have to select the few decent ones. I can just imagine them tossing some bananas in the bag to fill your order and them being all brown and old. I guess if they were polite and decent about it this service might be attractive.

I haven't checked it myself but you can click on product and you can find customers opinion.

I have taken lettuce:

It is map with cities and towns with Alma shops.

If you fear this debate ... I can't change it.
It wasn't about ... great Slavia.

enviro.aero/Aviationindustryenvironmentalnews.aspx?NID=194

KLM Engineering & Maintenance, working together with German paint supplier Mankiewicz, has developed a new aircraft painting system. The application of thinner paint layers reduces the weight of the paint by a full 15%. As a result, the aircraft consumes less fuel and produces fewer CO2 emissions. This is contributed to by the fact that the thinner layer is also smoother.

Germans are the biggest cross breads in europe. Western -Eastern - Nordic europeans. People who build Kopanica live there ...

Veleti (Wieleci) live there ...

The remnants of the Slavic tribes were gradually Germanized and assimilated during the following centuries.

so one thousend years ago ...

Bratwurst I have some questions:
Which Germans were traditionaly stronger ? From the east or from the west of the country ?
Who unified your country in 19th century ?
Which land has been dominant in Germany before WWII?

I would disagree. So did millions of Polish peasants and incidentally, many historians still disagree. Polish nobility during partitions fvcked up big time.

Durring communism people with such origin//family history had very hard life.

I am ready for debate about transformations in our society.

You in UK have sir Beckham ;)

You know in Poland nobility is considered to be good guys. Some people form lower states could join us ... using money or being good soldier in battle, local nobility in dependent lands could join us too. It wasn't so hermetic society and what is important has been formed in middle ages from Poles :)

The other fact is that we had partions and durring partions nobility was good. We were securing culture, building Polish schools and occupator was the enemy - not "we".

BTW just before partions nobility established first modern european constitution and gave more rights for other citizens. What is more Kościuszko who came back form USA wanted to transform our society using american model. ... later as I've said we had partitions and nobility wasn't enemy for Polish "people". That is how "we" saved our reputation.

It is so cool to be Polish Prince that I am not going to resign form it :)

I can't sleep.

About your polish nobles...we all know that nearly everybody could call himself an aristocrat after polish law...

Not everybody but Polish nobility isn't off different race and there was big influx of rich citizens in to our "state". Some foreign nobility cooperating with us in ... could gain the rights

Well..much of the old Reichstag got destroyed...lot's of other architects where about it later...what about them? And what do you want to say with that?

Yes yes it is typical German tatics... They have been changing Kopernik signatures and instead of "from Toruń" they were writting "german". Why there was such need to change it.

Battel of Viena ... exactly the same ...

When you go to their national history museum in Monachium (Munchien) you will see Zawsza Czarny and description that he was their knight

The Palace who were later made to The Reichstag building in Berlin were a Property of the Polish Count Athanasius Raczynski.Another Palace owned by Prince Antoni Henryk Radziwiłł were sold to Otto von Bismarck who made it to the "Reich’s Chancellery".

Of course they were destroyed (sic!) and now are pure German buildings :)

Bratwurst Boy

You lost in debate that is why you lose control :) Our Brat !!!heheheh

Breslau is not the original name. Neither is Wroclaw.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrocław

"The city's name was first recorded in the year 1000 by Thietmar's Latin chronicle called Thietmari Merseburgensis episcopi Chronicon as Wrotizlawa. The first municipal seal stated Sigillum civitatis Wratislavie. Simplified name is given in 1175 as Wrezlaw, Prezla or Breslaw. The Czech spelling was used in Latin documents as Wratislavia or Vratislavia. At that time, Prezla was used in Middle High German, which became Preßlau. In the middle of the 14th century the Early New High German (and later New High German) form of the name Breslau began to replace its earlier versions."

"The city's name in various foreign languages include in English: Wroclaw, Hungarian: Boroszló, Italian: Breslavia, Latin: Vratislavia or Wratislavia, Hebrew: ורוצלב (Vrotsláv), Slovak: Vratislav or Vroclav, Belarusian: Уроцлаў (Vrotslai), Greek: (Vrotslav), Russian: Вроцлав (Vrotslav); also Бреславль (Breslavl), Serbian: Вроцлав or Vroclav and Ukrainian: Вроцлав (Vrotslav). Names of Wrocław in other languages are also available."

I really don't know why you want to make Germans to Slavs...aren't you proud of what you Slavs are? Isn't that enough?

It is you who try to divide Polish citizens using blood key... I wouldn't like to be German ... I show some facts you nad Crow should face and some Germans should know about their origin as well ... why not ? we live in europe!! Face it - it is true.

I have no problems with the Sorbs, they are popular here in Germany. Most Germans visit at least once the Spreewald and their customs and Spreewaldgurken are well liked..

Good Brat lol :)

My point is that you like to talk about heritage coming form blood and we know what kind of blood mixes Germans have...

Some Poles are not concious about all blood they have from ancient times ...

Sometimes I read articles like this one that are written by people who go against the grain of generally held beliefs. Just occasionally, people who think outside of the box may just be onto something. Not in the case of the people who believe that 300 years were inserted into world history in the early middle ages, but this one about the Veneti may be plausible. If anyone's really bored and has time to read it, what do you think?

wait a second ...

I just remember writing something about a german trive who lived in the Berlin area BEFORE the Slavs pushed in from the East...not about the Veneti!

I don't want to push anybody form Berlin (Kopanica) if this people with as you claim with Slavic heritage (because of their noses and eyes) prefere to be German it is their choice. For us they were like Czechs or Slovaks. Now they are Germans and it is their choice (or unconsciousness) they have mixed a lot with "you" so it would be hard to find them all ... maybe slavic Hitler would help ;). If you talk about heritage coming form eyes or noses we can talk about it.

Lusatians know about their origin and are good German citizens but they continue some traditions which are forgotten in Berlin(Kopanica) or Rostock.

Why German Nazis were kidnaping kids (with blue eyes) in Zamość and giving them for families in Germany (south east Poland) - region without strong German influence ? Parents didn't want to listen that their nose or eyes prove their origin they had Polish names and surnames and were living in Poland for thousends years...

Read something about those ancient tribes you claim to be German ?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vistula_Veneti

The Veneti were geographically and temporaly contiguous to the Proto-Germanic and Proto-Slavic peoples and were eventually assimilated by both groups, perhaps even more decisively by Proto-Slavs who later settled in the territory which erstwhile belonged to the Veneti. The Germanic peoples subsequently transferred the ethnonym Veneti to their new easterly neighbours, the Slavs.

And before there lived Germans for much longer!

They are Polish can't you face some basic facts ! Germans with blue and brown eyes pushed Poles with blue and brown eyes because they claimed Poland to be their ancient land ! some were living there for centuries some were living there for thousends years (I know that some Poles don't want to listen it) Nazis were looking for them in Poland that is why they were kidnaping kids in Zamość (south east Poland - their parents didn't knew about their origin)... I don't know whose eyes are blue or brown or whatever. The funniest thing is that we know that so many Germans when we talk about being Slavic/Germanic/Celtic and ancient tribes ... are Slavic that is why they gave such name for Kopanica we both know that they are living there. Lusatians are good example that it is very possible.

How about german-polish signs in Danzig or Breslau???

Why we should call it so. Poles have build this cities first names were Gdańsk and Wrocław (I think there was reason that this names weren't german...). Later Germans pushed Poles ... without checking color or Polish eyes (blue or brown) if you ask about details and believe in heritage coming from color of eyes !

Poles with blue eyes (like me) prefere it to be Gdańsk and Wrocław we are living in this country for thousends years !!!! Move on !!!

Kopanica has been first name of your capital and for some reasons they have called it KOPANICA not Berlin ...

Crow

I think is bad idea. Many Germans have slavic origin and it is good to see them being more and more concous of this fact. Maybe they will like Lusatians change name of their capital on Kopanica we all know that like Veneti havent been pushed by the "proto-Slavs" Later many Slavs in eastern Germany became German.

From the other hand I think I know why Nazis were looking for "Nordic" kids in Poland durring WWII. I have been always thinking why they have choosen Zamość (today: south east Poland) for this action ... It wasn't part of Prussia and it wasn't under German influence in the past... Now I know why they were kidnaping Polish kids and sending them to Germany to re-germanize them in German families.

Everything is clear.
