News / EU or America - which country is better to work now? [56]

Your tolerance is admirable Ms.filmcasting(?); however, you should speak out against people like this. You don't have to hate him but you can put him in his place; I'm sure other mexicans wouldn't take such postings lying down.

I understand what you're saying but I'm hardly lying down. I have my own successful business and a high education. I think I already explained in one of my posts above that Mexicans are also professionals and they have successful lives.

However, I do believe that illegal immigration is against the law and I think people do have reason to complain. It's especially unfair when they get certain privilidges and benefits that citizens don't. I've seen some illegals get all of their medical costs paid in full but I have to pay high insurance fees myself.

"It's unfortunate that we don't have a mexican here to defend his community."

I'm Mexican American and Polish descent and that whole thing is totally insulting, epecially that Cheech song, but people have the right to their opinions and feelings. I would never attack FISZ for expressing what he feels.

And underneath it all, Mexicans are Native Americans who came from Asia, just like FISZ. We have the same blood. I would never hate my brother.

News / EU or America - which country is better to work now? [56]

Mexicans are highly educated and frequently occupy positions in Construction, Mechanics, Agriculture, Landscaping, Trades such as carpentry or plumbing and various manual positions such as factories etc..
In a similar format, they often live many people to a single house (no rent costs) and avoid paying certain taxes (vehicle tax for example).

In addition, some even have college degrees and high paying jobs. They're lawyers, doctors, business owners, work in computer related fields, electronics, etc. Many work for major companies and have nice homes in nice neighborhoods. Not all Mexicans are illegals. Some have legal permission to work in the US while still remaining Mexican citizens.

Some people would be surprised at how many of the people who are working in the fields are saving up money to buy homes, start businesses and send their kids to college.

No, no, no... I didn't mean that American leaves because of Mexicans, but only that you have problems with many illegal immigrants from Mexico :-)

It's not as big a problem as most think (what the media states).

FISZ is right. The media probably makes it look worse than it is. I live in California and I haven't seen a Mexican all day. Wait. I take that back. I did see one today. My dad. And I'm fine.

Love / Polish Stunner.........sticky situation [106]

and believe me... shes staring at a lot more guys than just you...

True. But that doesn't mean she doesn't really like you and won't go out with you. It's human nature for a woman to notice attractive men.

I asked her why and she replied that it was just to see if they would respond to her, even though there was another woman there. That made her feel good.

I thought BlueDeep mentioned that the waitress doesn't stare when the girlfriend is there. And he sees her frequently, so it's not like she's testing to see if she can get his attention.

Love / Polish Stunner.........sticky situation [106]

plus when i walk past her she always stares into my eyes, when i leave with my girlfriend she always addresses me and looks at me and never my girlfriend. I know waitresses are meant to be nice, but its so hard to seperate her behaviour from that expected of a waitress. .

Just between you and me, I do the same kind of staring thing with a guy who works at a restaurant. He's German and I'm Polish. We have these staring matches every time he walks past. We do this because we want each other. He stares at me because he's attracted to me and I stare back without flinching because I want to show him that I feel the same way. It's that simple. I think she wants you.

Language / If you can say that, you are excellent in Polish. [32]

Cholopolaco... there is no a word like this in polish. Maybe "Halo Polaku", what means "Hi there, Polish guy". Where did you find this word?

It means Polish Mexican gangster. Cholo is a slang word for a Mexican gangster type. And polaco is a Polish person. So when someone is part cholo, part Polish, they would be a cholo polaco. The word pokochało made me think of it. It was just my way of teasing. :)

Love / Illegal Polish girl wants me to marry her for citizenship [124]

First of all that is cheating. You're hurting not only yourself, but the American Goverment. After about 7,8 months of this "marriage", you get called into the immigration office to apply for a green card. Here they ask you very intimate questions about your marriage and personal stuff. Lot of times they know it's fake.

How long does it take for them to know if they passed the test? Do they tell them on that day or does it take time? And also, would the deportation happen right away if they failed the test?

Life / Popular Polish Actors [23]

All those actors would be elderly by now, and the older ones back then might have died. Srry I couldn't help more.

Thanks. I was hoping people in Poland could name some actors who they currently see on TV or in movies, those who are around 30, maybe a couple of years less or more.

Life / Popular Polish Actors [23]

There's also a guy, who used to play JPII (Piotr Adamczyk?) and Olaf Lubaszenko, but I think that now he is already about 40.

Thank you, Grzegorz. :)

ahh man, I can't thikn of this guys name, but he was in Home Alone 3. His first name is Olek. He is pretty big in US. He even said" I'll squash you like a cockroach, where is the disk?" in Polish in Home Alone 3

I checked IMDB and are you talking about Olek Krupa? It doesn't say how old he is but it looks like he might be older than 30ish. Do you know anyone who is around 30?

Life / Popular Polish Actors [23]

Thanks for the actors' names. They're exactly what I was looking for. I was able to find them on YouTube and see what they look like and sound like. It's okay if they're not big movie stars.

Maciej Zakoscielny(Zakościelny) or Pawel Malaszynski (Małaszyński).

Thank you for these names. I've heard about Maciej before but not Pawel. He looks great.

If anyone can name any other actors, I would really appreciate it.

It's basically the same as everywhere I think.

Do you recognize the candy Ptasie Mleczko? Is that commonly known in Poland?

Food / Common Pastry in Polish Bakery? [19]

What is a common pastry that is found in Poland at practically every bakery? Can you describe it for me? I mentioned kolaczki to someone who is from Poland and they had never heard of it before. Is there something more commonly known?

USA, Canada / Where Can I Buy Polish Music in the United States? [38]

I meant to say inside the United States. Even though certain CD's are readily available in Poland, they are very hard to find in the US. If you know of any locations that sell imports, please let me know. Thanks.
