Language / IS "MY Z BRATEM" OK FOR "MY BROTHER AND I"? [28]

They talked to my brother and I.

I wouldn't say this and I don't like it, but it's okay in informal conversation. Again avoid in job interviews or any other context where you're speaking with someone more important than you.

You are joking arn't you? This should be used moreso in formal conversations than in .informal conversations, infact is should be used all the time because it is correct english

The rule in traditional grammar

Yes I agree traditional grammer and post- traumatic stress disorder grammar, do carry certain endings after prepositions, because of the conditions they have had to endure, and changes are inevitable. However, this does not change the fact that that my friend and I will meet, as usual on Friday.

"They'll meet my friend and I" isn't.

Absolutely, I agree totally, this is what I suggested earlier. This form or grammar is of a sub-standard form, coupled with anxiety disorder, and possible scizo-parables otherwise non-specific, as outlined by the DSM- manual 2002

News / Poland will take half a century to catch up with the West [240]

Everyone is free to think and have his own beliefs.

If I were you Polson, I would not even waste my time, or knowledge of history on this "sorry little man" When not spending his time reading downmarket tabloids, he is down the pub reciting everything of an intellectual nature he has gleaned from this forum to make himself look good. Believe me!

Life / Brits moving to live in Poland [88]

Exactly - why go to Australia, and be seen as just another whinging POM if you can go to Poland and instantly become an upper class (in ones mind of course) - quick upgrade from bus driver or UB recipient – good old colonial days.

This is quite an unnecessary statement. If you have every met people from the Newcastle or the North of England you would see thats is not the case. The marriage will probably work and the relationship with the mother-in law, because people from the North of England have some of the same values an many Polish people. They adore their families, and their wives and put them first. They are hard working people and never forget where they are from.

Status and money is the furthest from their minds. Happiness and being amongst people they enjoy and feel comfortable with means everything. People from the North-East are unique. Therefore please do not post such rubbish until you are in possession of the facts.

Love / Polish Girlfriend gone missing [154]

I don't consider myself to be naive but she certainly played me for a fool.

Oh !just forget about it and put it down to experience, and move on with your life. Not everyone is like that, there are good and bad people in every culture.

Take care and find someone who appreciates you for what you are and not the size of your wallet.

Life / POLES' ENGLISH COMPARED TO EUROPE AS A WHOLE? [39]

you would never find a Spaniard or Greek person with such bad (or even no English)

Shelleys the Greeks and the Spaniards have been bombared by the British presence for many many years, whether it be by media or merely our holiday making on their beautiful islands.

The polish have not had the pleasure of our company in such great numbers until recently. I think that maybe the difference. Plus the fact the voice box is developed differently, from other Europeans. Polish is a very difficult language to pronounce, and it is not so easy for them to adapt or soften the voice box, once it has been trained. I tend to think that this leads to the difficulties.

I do however think that the polish are very well-educated, but sometimes lack alot of confidence, which in our society counts for such a lot, its a shame.
