Lie #4 - Vaccines are safe
And how would any journalists actually know this? None of the vaccines have been subjected to real-world testing for any meaningful duration. The "safety" of these vaccines is nothing more than wishful thinking.

and what exactly are you basing this on? and why would journalists know better than health professionals? vaccines are plenty safe, and those that believe they aren't are gullible enough to believe the conspiracy theorists.

I'm with the same company for over 16 years and I'm yet to call in sick. So there.
I'll take my chances.

yay, good for you. not everyone can say the same, and i'll talk my chances by getting vaccinated.

Love / Why are Polish girls constantly ill? [166]

I have seen a few guys out jogging in Poland but never a woman.

I went jogging a few times when I was in Poland last summer and i was the only person doing so. i got a few weird looks but oh well, i still kept doing it.

Positive vibes, or maybe just a decently working vibrator? :P

hahahahah :)

In terms of women going to to the doctor all the time I know that in my family the women never go to the doctor unless it's an emergency, i think it has to do with them being too darn stubborn to seek help. but that is just my family. i'm different, i pay attention to my body and go to the doctor for regular check ups.

Life / Swine flu vaccinations taking place in Poland? [52]

The Swing Flu Vaccination is a live virus. Research shows that this causes permanent scarring to your lungs.

actually it's not a live virus. it was a live virus vaccine in the 70s but not now, at least not in North America.

Work / Questions about Volunteering in Poland [12]

great topic! i have just started to look into volunteering in Poland too. i have come across volunteers for peace as well as Global Volunteers, both seemed like good companies. Volunteers for peace didn't list any projects currently available in Poland but Global Volunteers seemed to have a few opportunities. volunteerabroad.com is a good reference i believe.

if you speak Polish you could probably get with some local volunteer organizations. i haven't looked into that yet but I am going to since I can speak the language and I have family over there that i can stay with.

good luck!

Travel / Recommendations for Zakopane [48]

How was your trip?.
Please feel free to add to this thread and tell us all about it.

my trip was great! i was there for 4 days. i realized though that i am not in any physical condition to be walking all over those hills because i hiked up to kasprowy wierch and i nearly died! then we walked over to czerwony wierchy and i nearly died again!! however, the scenery was beautiful. here are some pics from our hike.

i spent some time walking up and down ul. kropowki, lots to see and do for sure. we visited a couple of bars where there were bands playing regional music.

our very last day it rained. and that's how it was the rest of the trip, all the way back to krakow and then olsztyn.

i couldn't post any pics, they were too big.

Law / European Health Insurance Cards [3]

thanks
my aunt actually looked into and she said i would have to pay about 6,000 zl to get the card plus pay an additional 200 zl each month after that. since i decided to put my studies on hold i'm not going to get a card just yet. but is it even worth it?

Food / baby food in Poland - culture differences in feeding babies. [23]

Do you realise what a load of rubbish you "breast are best" people spout and how much damage you cause to peoples lives.

which is why i mentioned formula you idot.

I also agree that it's the time you spend with your baby that is the most important, regardless of whether you breastfeed or use formula.

so easy on the attack there Lexi, I am not a breast is best radical.

Food / baby food in Poland - culture differences in feeding babies. [23]

in Canada the recommendation is breastmilk or formula until 6 months of age then you can start introducing iron fortified cereal. there is more talk about having meat be the first food, as well as introducing vegetables before fruit. babies don't need any additional liquid besides breastmilk or formula. probably as they get a close to 1 you can add water as a liquid, but stay away from juices because of all the added sugar.

i am curious to know what the practices are in Poland also.

Law / European Health Insurance Cards [3]

Hi,
I am hoping to study in Europe this year but in order to use my Polish Citizenship to be able to study I need to show proof of health insurance, like the European Health Insurance card. I've lived in Canada most of my life and I am a Canadian citizen but i'm also a Polish citizen. what do you have to do get a card?

News / What does Poland mean to you? [66]

Poland means to me;
my wonderful grandma and the rest of my family that lives there; lots of history, beautiful buildings and countryside; pride; great food and even better beer!; awesome parties (New Year's parties begin at midnight and end in the late morning); the mountains ( I love visiting Zakopane);

Poland means a great deal to me and maybe, just maybe I may end up living there.

USA, Canada / Dual citizenship of both Poland and Canada? [12]

I am a Polish citizen but have lived in Canada most of my life. I have always had a Polish passport but the last time I had to renew my passport I needed to have something called a PECEL number, i guess it's kind of like a social security number. anyway, it took FOREVER to get it and mostly my mom did all the organizing but we FINALLY got the number about 10 months later.

sheesh

I have never been to a Polish wedding sadly. I would love to go to one. I've been to plenty of Polish funerals though....

I love Olsztyn too, I miss it very much.

Hi Sean,

USA, Canada / Polish Canadians [117]

hey everyone,
i live up in northern canada and I only know 2 other polish people here, most of them are all down in southern Canada where it's a bit warmer! I've lived in Canada most of my life and I came to this country when I was 4. I still go back to Poland quite often to visit family and would even consider moving back there if possible. I do wish I was closer to a Polish community, but this forum is pretty good, lots of interesting topics.
