Food / What do the Poles think of salt and vinegar crisps? [32]

I like salt and vinegar squares they are lovely along with pringles sour cream and onion also mccoys grilled steak flavor and quavers.

I gave my missus a pack of quavers the other week and shes notoriously hard to please and hates english food she said she didn't like them... but ate the whole pack for good measure :D

Language / "The Polish Language Boom" [9]

szarlotka

Still, I'd rather know the word for beer in Polish rather than French any day! at least I know plenty of Poles that are actually in the UK, I mean, when was the last time you saw a French person!

(Waits for one-upmanship examples missing the point! ;D)

Siema. Polish language boom.

Classes teaching Polish have become increasingly popular

;)

Why aren't there more English schools teaching Polish over French! Surely more use nowadays.

News / Poland - a foreigner and a native Pole - different point of view...? [24]

I've never been so theres the start of my opinion...

I always look at Krakow as Polands most beautiful city with all those church spires and the town square sticking into my mind oh and also the castle and the river that flows through it.

I'm going to visit one day for sure! :) I heard from a friend that the prettiest Polkas come from Krakow...

I'll be the judge of that! ;P

A few months ago when I was fresh out of my 65 hours of intense Polish tuition

Hi Tony,

I was just wondering where you had 65 hours of tuition?

Thanks.

Language / Polish Conditionals (okresy warunkowe or zdania warunkowe) [23]

mafketis

Your getting ahead of me now....

I wish I was at that level but for now I'm happy with understanding what conditional is.

I'm getting there... it's baby steps but every little helps.

Thanks for your help.

Language / adding się [21]

MrBubbles

Sometimes it helps to keep things simple. I don't know of this grammar terminology and get confused easily so for me it was a good explanation.

gumishu

That is a really great simple no BS explanation and just how I like it.

I am not great with my own language so it helps me if I have simple explanations of these concepts.

Thank you!

Thread attached on merging:
That crazy little word called: Się

Ok so I'm not sure if I should really be asking this question but can somebody please explain to me the role in Język Polski of that annoying little word 'się'? It seems to pop up to me in the most unexpected of places (or to me any ways ;P) I've always thought of it as meaning 'yourself' is this correct?

Thanks.

Food / MARMITE IN POLAND? [96]

tasty yes. not sure about the healthy bit though!

Healthy? Come off it, they are loaded with salt.

Sorry my mistake I wasn't concentrating! I actually meant healthier than most other crisps as they have a drastically reduced saturated fat content.

How am I a pervert for eating Marmite, cj?

It was a joke Seanus, as was me telling sausage that Twigglets are blasphemous.

:)

I cannot say for sure but I think you should have no problems running this software, if you do you can try running it under compatibility mode as an XP machine.

If not then send it back!

UK, Ireland / no anti english comments please [48]

I find that some posters on PF keep forgetting about it.

I think we all know what kind of poster that is...and I try to avoid those threads.

Just look at our love child: noimmigration now there is a man with intelligence! ;)

UK, Ireland / no anti english comments please [48]

I am British and proud of it! Many Polish people come here so that they can provide a "better life" for their family. If we are stupid enough to let them come here then we should be blaming the government not the people who are taking advantage of our open-door policy.

Couldn't agree more (but we are English too!).

englander

I am English born and bred but I really think you are clutching at straws here. The truth is that this thread is pointless, sorry but it's true, no matter what you write you are just opening yourself up for abuse here as lots of people don't like England in the same way that lots don't like Ireland and Poland etc it's just the way things are.

I suggest you come up with a different thread about how well England treats it's Polish population and why they should be happy to live in such a place rather than what you are doing because believe me you will get a whole lot further than just saying "Polish should go home if they don't like England" this makes you sound a tab stupid.

No offence intended.

I'm proud to be English and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Life / 800 thousand Polish women are victims of domestic abuse yearly [180]

Your premise is wrong so I cannot answer the question.

Well to be honest I see nothing but anti-feminist drivel in your posts so perhaps my premise is incorrect... why don't you correct me then?

When did you stop beating your wife? See, that's another wrong premise. No way to answer that because of the built-in assumption.

I have a simple way to answer it: I have no wife.
