Love / How Many Dates Before Sex in Poland? [86]

Is that the only qualification?
After reading a biography of Osama bin Laden I feel I know him 'kind of well'. The British Royal family are constantly being discussed by the UK media, so I feel I 'kind of know' them. I'v kept pedigree Bull Mastiff's my entire adult life so 'kind of' know them BUT SEX IS OUT OF THE QUESTION because:

1. My partner must be a human
2. Female (I'm a hetro male)
3. Young enough to be several years from a bus pass
4. Old enough to be several years from a bus pass
5. Attractive (imho)
6. Not the worlds most wanted terrorist, a member of any royal family (especially the Al Saud's) or a dog.

Love / Attending a Polish wedding on my own (I'm English) [25]

POLISH WEDDING VODKA (twice normal strength)
BRIDESMAIDS (gaggin' for it!)

It's scientific fact!
96.3% of bridesmaids have unprotected sex with complete strangers on the night of being at the wedding.

UK, Ireland / 2 years in London, maybe it's time to go back to Poland? [60]

I feel like that after a weekend in London...and I'm English!
It's a bloody awful place.

Maybe you miss home?
Maybe you just need a change of scene?

Returning home after years away can be a massive anti-climax, so do not use selective memories of your home town/country to build a perfect place that never really existed.

Try to remember some of the things you hated about it.

Travel / Flights to Krakow from Leeds, Bradford, or Doncaster [17]

I hope to fly to Krakow from either Leeds/Bradford or Doncaster, 02/10/08 returning 20/10/08 (these dates are approx and can be slightly altered).
So far WIZZAIR offers the best value but I'm unsure of a few things.
1. How far is KATOWICE/CRAKOW airport away from KRAKOW and what options/costs are entailed in travelling between the two?
2. Baggage is charged per item. Is this usual or is the charge for extra luggage?

Any suggestions or advice are very welcome.

Travel / Flights to Krakow from Leeds, Bradford, or Doncaster [17]

i booked transfers with the company direct and saved £26 :)

How do you reach £26 savings?
I have the choice of booking as an additional option with my wizzair flight for £24

or book direct for 88pzl (which will be more than £20).

Travel / Cheap flights from Northern England to eastern Europe? [10]

I know about flights to Katiwice, poznan, Gdansk, Wroclaw and warsaw from Doncaster with WIZZAIR.
I'v also seen the flights from leeds/Bradford to Krakow (Easyjet?)

BUT where can I catch flights to Prague, Budapest, Slovenia, Bratislava, The Baltics etc etc....

Where can I view these flight offers?
Some of the comparison sites I have found are much more expensive than the WIZZAIR prices I have found.

Travel / My 3 weeks in Poland.... I didn't want to leave. [33]

Tonight I returned to England after nearly three weeks in Krakow....
I didn't want to leave. I totally fell head over heels in love with the place!
The architecture, foods, clubs, people in general and, specifically, the absolutely 'drop dead' gorgeous women!!!!
THE WOMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bardzo £adnymi Kobietami!

I dated a girl called Alicja for my last week there and I WOULD MARRY HER TOMORROW!
I'm a 35 yr old confirmed bachelor...yet this beuatiful, fun-loving woman has affected me more than anyone ever did before....even during mt teenage years!

I LOVE POLISH WOMEN
Most attractive women in the world!

(And the Prolog Language School course was excellent).

I'm going to try and get some sleep now but its amazing how big this bed feels now I don't share it with the girl who made my nights so perfect.

I@V GOT IT BAD!

Travel / My 3 weeks in Poland.... I didn't want to leave. [33]

Hi PTGX,
The food places were the Mlecko Bar on Grodzka, the mlecko bar near AKADEMIA PEDAGOGICZNA (2.85 zl for Pierogi Ruskie Cebula),
The CYKLOP PIZZA just off the Maly Rynek and the BABCIA MELINA's chain were my regular places.
I also had several meals at the more expensive places such as C.K.DEZERTERS, BODEGA VINOTEKA........

Lizard King, Piekny Pies, Carpe Diem 2 and 'Nic Nowego' were my 'locals'
Places like RDZA or PROZAK were not my type of place (Bodybuilders and footballers wives with permatanned skin...too cool for me).

Alicja and I will probably not attempt to continue things.......
I'll discuss with you by private message if youre interested?
In fact I would welcome the chance to discuss the whole situation and maybe take some advice from 'prawdą Polkę'?

PM me.

ArcticPaul:
And the Prolog Language School course was excellent

Please expand on this! How much did it cost, hour per day etc....

I'll respond to your question first, Shawn.
It was a 2 week intensive course.
5 academic hours per day (1hr=45min) 10 days in total.
260Euro for the course, 130Euro for 13 nights in the home of a local family.
I couldn't praise the standard of this course high enough.

"...you must not have travelled much?"
Thailand, India, Spain, Holland, The Phillipines, Australia, Morocco, Malaysia

It was my first time in Eastern Europe. I found the locals to be far from gloomy. They were friendly, helpful, fun-loving and interesting.
Not to mention the unbelievable elegance and beauty of the women.

I'm well aware that holiday romances seldom stand the test of time BUT she wasn't on holiday. Alicja was living her normal, routine life.

After five nights of hints and flirtation...
Night 1: Smile, small-talk.
Night 2: Above plus a few drinks and some dancing.
Night 3: Above but much more. Talk, drink, dance. talk, drink, dance...
Night 4: Pretend to be walking her direction when she goes home (then spend 90 minutes trying to work out where the f*** I am!)
Night 5: From the first second she arrives we engage each other to the exclusion of everyone else,
She later told me she thought I was just a tourist trying to get lucky but after my persistant interest she made enquiries. When she heard I had only been trying to get with her she was very flattered.

The girls from two previous holiday romances are still friends of mine. The pressure of real life and distance dating ended the romance but left me (and I like to think them) with great memories and new friends.

What's not to love about a situation like this?

Yeah! I see your point.

The first few months in Thailand I thought the women were fantastic....then the down sides started to become very obvious.
Their jelousy of any other woman, dishonest and manipulative ways of getting their own way......But lets not underestimate the power of novelty on male sexuality!

We're basically dogs.
Thats why men lose their wives, houses and relationships on a daily basis just because they couldn't resist that 'extra notch on the headboard'

At 35yrs old I'm not going to jump into anything I can't jump straight back out of. I'll just have to be happy having a jump, here and there.

Genealogy / Average height of Polish women [107]

The Poles vary greatly in size and looks.
I'm 6ft 4in and I saw hundreds of beautiful women approaching the 6ft size I feel is perfect for me.
The heeled boots brought them to just below my eye level.

FATASTICZNA!

Language / EATING OUT & SOCIO-LINGUSITICS in POLAND [5]

Admit it, Marek, you had sex with that fat, miserable, communist waitress...
I would!
Any loser can play a game of 'Snog a dog' when there out with the mates at a local nightclub BUT sleeping with the ugliest menial worker in Szczecin takes real guts.

Viva la revolution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Zubruvwkak. Itts greeat

News / March of Tolerance in Krakow [478]

I think views and opinions concerning sexuality and race are changing faster in Poland than anywhere else.

You cannot have an educated population that retains retrograde prejudice.
It's totally alien to the educated mind.

Life / Public transport on Christmas Day in Poland [10]

Can't you e-mail the transport information people?

I had to correspond with Matuszek (?) about airport transfers and they were very helpful and very prompt.
Good luck.

Have you seen the film
'Plains, trains and automobiles'?

Travel / LUBLIN. Any facts needed about the area. [16]

I'm working with a really fantastic young woman from Lublin and I'd appreciate any local knowledge about the area.

I'm not stupid enough to believe that tigers roam the streets but I am fairly gormless so all facts will be checked.

Thanks for all contributions (that are genuine).

Thanks.
It sounds like a great place!

I have not yet 'clicked' on any of the websites (I'm using a black berry and it takes ages to access sites) but I'll check them out just as soon as I have my PC.

Travel / LUBLIN. Any facts needed about the area. [16]

How about a comparison of prices with Krakow?
I was talking to an Australian in Krakow who had just paid 14zl for a tatanka. He said he usually paid 8zl in Radom, the city where he was living and teaching English.

At a locals bar, near the train station, I paid 5zl for a .5lt of Okocim. In the old town it varied from 6.5 to 12zl.

What could I expect to pay at tourist/local prices in Lublin?

UK, Ireland / My friends upset at Brits.... [51]

I have a really good friend who takes things far more seriously than is good for him.
He says I am the only English person who has behaved to him how he expected Brits to behave.
He was raised to imagine Britain as a fair minded place with honest, decent people yet, since moving here 4 year ago he has had nothing but insults from strangers, unfair requests from bosses, employment agencies attempting to underpay him and anti-immigration (Polish) propoganda from our media...which is a disgrace.

The latest needle in his ribs was a story in a red top tabloid with the headline
"Polish Eat Swans".

I think they may have gone too far with this one because we both came close wetting ourselves with laughter whilst discussing the story on Sunday night over a botttle of Zubrowka.

Is anyone stupid enough to believe that some of the recent Polish immigrants to these lands are actually hunting swans to kill and cook for dinner?
