Life / Consider going back to Poland? [90]

I love Ireland and it is always there for me.
I don't feel I have to live there though.

When I was nine years old I was convinced I was going to die, still to this day I do not know why, as nobody I knew was dead.

So with this daunting information, I looked where most people look, to religion.
There were wars about this and that religion, I was in Ireland and I had just come back from Jerusalem.
There were many weird and wonderful religions, non of which everyone agreed upon. They just competed or carried on, with some words of wisdom and a whole load of other stuff that I still find unnecessary.

So I looked to philosophy and politics, again noone had the answer, nobody agreed.
It seemed like people hadn't figured it out yet (still seems like it).
So I thought to myself what do we know for sure or at least agree on.
We live this life, this one life, just once (other lives not included), so I decided I wanted to take a look around the planet before I die.

A good few years ago, I left Ireland for good, to return only for holidays.
I met plenty of people who left their native lands and it seemed that many were always living a second best life in their adopted country.

As they were comparing the negative contrasts of the new country to their native country.
It almost seemed to me that they were sabotaging their happiness and living in the shadow of where they wanted to be, so to negate all that I decided not go back.

This is the type of thing I can not explain well but if you knew me, you'd understand.

I also thought about being Irish and what that means and after how long would I still be able to call myself 'Irish' but then I remembered that there are more Irish people outside the country than in Ireland and that in fact by not living in Ireland, I am by definition, a typical Paddy :)

I came here to Poland about 8 years ago for two years and then I moved to another country and then to another, I am back in Poland about 2 years now.

What can I say, Poland has been good to me.
If I had been in a most of the other countries I have lived, I would be facing terrible loses due to the financial crises.

But it is much more than just the money, I have met and keep in contact with great people here and I really enjoy the mountains and wildlife (bet you would never have guessed by the nature of my threads :)

Do I get home sick? No but I will always visit.
Will I stay in Poland? No but I will always visit.
Will I go back to Ireland? No but I will always visit.

I don't know if any of this will make sense to any of you but there you go anyway.

Real Estate / 15 reasons why the Polish real estate market will crash soon [258]

And still no word from Mark?, I mean Kalop, must be that next post he becomes a member rather than remaining a guest but I am not worried, i am sure he'll just pop up again with a new name.

BINGO!

Well at least he is consistent, if nothing else apart from a multi user, trolling, spammer.

confirms my belief that no bacon for you this christmas,

I have met people like you Bolek, people who blame their failures on others.
Unwilling to except what they have and make do with it, always counting other people's money, measuring people by their material wealth, always jealous and trying to be condescending.

Merry Christmas Bolek, may all the people you envy have an even better one!

And still no word from Mark?, I mean Kalop, must be that next post he becomes a member rather than remaining a guest but I am not worried, i am sure he'll just pop up again with a new name.

Life / Why are Polish people so ruthless? [87]

I started this because I was seeking to understand why it is the Polish act so differently to the rest of the nationalities I encounter.

And did you find the answer you were looking for?

I have not gone in to specifics out of respect for the Polish people

You have called Polish people ungrateful, ruthless and rude, they are not words of respect.

Your generalisations are astounding.

Life / Why are Polish people so ruthless? [87]

you have indicated that you are using your job on your whim, if you like someone - you will amend the timesheet system for them, even though your employment term prohibit you to do so. If you don't like someone, you will not amend. This is a sign of very low morality, you are using resources that aren't even yours to please your ego. Now you proudly write that you took your own little vengeance at work.

Yes, I agree with this evaluation of the situation.

Where on eart on this thread have I said that I break rules and amend people's timesheets?

Here:

. One of those people that is no longer speaking to me now wants her working weekends changed so that it is in line with her husband's working hours. She had to go to the Housekeeper to ask for this - in turn the Housekeeper came to me and I subsequently said 'No.'

As it happens I am not really supposed to change their work hours regularly anyway, I was just doing it because they needed that help and I was able to. I can still do it but now, as of this week, I choose not to.

And the other question is, why could someone who works for him not come directly to him to ask for this herself? she had to use the Housekeeper as an intermediate. Fishy...

Travel / Wroclaw (tourist help needed for a 14-year old) [20]

Do a lot of people speak English in Poland?

Generally, people under thirty years of age in the cities speak English but more and more people speak English.
But any country you will ever go to in your life, people from that country will always appreciate you learning at least a few polite words.

Ah, the tourists are fine, it all depends on what you are used to.
It is not too crowded for me by a long shot but you are right Krakow is a wonderful place and there I can help more with these two threads.

Recommendations for Krakow and Myślenice
Recommendations for Zakopane

And also to get more of a general idea of Poland you should look at the photographs from Pictures of Poles [Everyday Life].

Travel / Wroclaw (tourist help needed for a 14-year old) [20]

Hello Brandon,

And welcome to the Polish Forums,

To help you find out more about the things you could like about Wroclaw, you could tell us what you are interested in? World war 2, architecture, wildlife, etc...

There are several people on this site that live in Wroclaw and I am sure they will help you with your question.

I live in Krakow, Poland but I have not been to Wroclaw yet. I also hear great things about it, it is supposed to have a beautiful market square, a hundred bridges, canals, mountains near by with lots of forest, skiing in winter, zoo, parks etc...

You can use the search box in the top right hand corner of this page, type in a key word and have a look.

Try this forum for more info too

And remember it is cold and snowy in winter and hot in the summer.

And have a good trip, you will like it.

Real Estate / 15 reasons why the Polish real estate market will crash soon [258]

It is sad that not only do you take your failures out on me but that you take them out on a people. I don't really mind either way as it does not effect anything except for my perception of you.

I don't think people would find somebody saying something like the Irish influence in Poland would be offensive, and in fact there is a Irish influence in Poland ie Irish bars and Guinness beer..

That is one of the worst backup examples I have ever read for someone being anti-Semitic.

I also own 2 properties in Krakow, and yes, prices are going down with speed :(

Still no word back from Kalop on my offer.
I wonder where could he be???
;)

Life / Why are Polish people so ruthless? [87]

I think I've made my point.

What was your point?
That there is some 'Polish gene' that makes Polish people ungrateful, ruthless and rude?

You are preaching to the wrong person here.
Sure there are some asses, as in every group of people but you live with your blinkers on.

Have you found out why all the Polish you work with bare one, will not talk to you?

I find that kind of behaviour strange/rude in an individual but in a whole group of people!! There is something you have missed or are just not willing to tell us.

Why did you come on here in the first place? to get empathy? sympathy? to have other people bad mouth Poles?, while saying what a nice guy you are?

Maybe you are a nice guy but as I said, you either do not know the full story or are not giving us all the facts.

So why then don't you sell, Mark?

If you want, I can take a look at them, you'll be doing yourself a favour, according to your predictions.
Sell now save yourself hundreds of thousands of Zloty, if you really believe that the market will crash.

I am serious, PM me and we can discuss it further, I am near Krakow.
Unless...

You see so many of these type posts.... Surely Poland has good women and slags, much like just about every other country out there really

Yep, but then you are denying the moaning, nagging, whinging, whining little boys who got dumped and are hurt about it, their outlet :)

Real Estate / Prices of apartments in Krakow are collapsing further down in 2010-2011 [150]

my wife Katarzyna

Again you admit to who you really are Mark Biernat and in so doing, admit to spamming these forums using various aliases.

You are abusing these forums.
I don't mind you having your opinion but I am against the way you are coming up with new aliases all the time and agreeing with yourself and just spamming.

Please refrain from using more than one user name and we can have a civilised debate/discussion.

Now back on topic

clear FACTS and realities of polish property market which is GOING DOWN with speed ?

Show us your facts and we can discuss them.

It is just so damn funny how in return to all statistics, clear facts and everything else that the property market in poland is GOING DOWN,

Prove it, you have not shown any statistics, clear facts or coherent arguments to back up your fallacious claims.

personal attacks...

That whole last post was a personal attack, not one shred of back up or evidence.

It is also you who have multipule aliases all stating the same rubbish and all with no foundation.

clear arguments and facts being presented here.

I see NO clear arguments or facts coming from you.

Life / What to wear for winter in Poland [51]

Hello ellice,

And welcome to the Polish forums.

i'm going to Poland this December

It is cold, in comparison to the Philippines it is very very very cold.
Hat, scarf, gloves, warm boots, thick pair of tights, a big jacket etc...

i have very little idea about fashion and clothes in cold places like Poland.

Something on the lines of skiing clothes, I think would not look out of place and keep you warm, without the goggles of course.

But wear jeans with thick tights underneath.

I have worked with many very good Philippinas and they find it cold here in Europe in summer.

Have a great time and remember there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes :)

there is also a question of Jewish influence.

Jeez Bolek, I didn't know you were like that.

I've posted here for some time and tried to give a second opinion with view to caution people

I think it is a good thing that you give your point of view based on your own experience. Surely we can't all agree but if you now start with conspiracy theories, then I don't know what to say.

Life / Toilet Signs in Poland and Continental Europe [18]

Lithuania is even more confusing. Two triangles !

I always assumed that in Lithuania the triangles were a very basic shape of the male and female.
The broad man's shoulders and the wider women's hips.

Whereas in Poland, I just do not go in to the one marked by a circle.

Life / Toilet Signs in Poland and Continental Europe [18]

haha, not pagan!

How do you know, smarty pants?
When did it originate?

The triangle is male and circle is female - imagine moving the triangle towards the circle, one enters the other (to be lewd) and there, it's obvious.

There are several things about that that do not make sense, as far as phallic symbolisms go, the triangle is not typical.

It may have to do with...

So you do not know either, yet you are quick to laugh at others who make suggestions.

the shape of the pelvis, to symbols.

Possibly, although men's pelvises are smaller than women's.

Life / Why are Polish people so ruthless? [87]

However I never did anything wrong, we remained very close friends. Then one day she just decided I was nothing when her boyfriend gave her hassle because she is not allowed to have male friends. The last time I saw her was nearly a year ago.

That is your side of the story.
The people you work with might think you did something wrong.

They dont like seeing their mates girlfriend getting perved on.

For a good example.

Life / Toilet Signs in Poland and Continental Europe [18]

Separation by sex is characteristic of public toilets, with writings or pictograms of a man or a woman are used to indicate where their respective toilets are. Warsaw, Poland is a rare exception where a triangle indicates male and a circle indicates female.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toilet#Gender_and_public_toilets

off-topic because it is more related to Continental Europe

Maybe it is just Poland?

Real Estate / Prices of apartments in Krakow are collapsing further down in 2010-2011 [150]

99.99% of Krakow population

You know a lot of people :)

Many are houses

Nope.

any security systems

That is common in most house builds but alarm systems are cheaper and easier to install than ever before.

thin walls

That is the one thing that EVERBODY checks in a country where tempratures can reach minus 30 but don't let practical information like that stop your ranting.

a desperate real estate agency study (OberHaus)- that is the only proof that prices collapsed only 15%.

You contradict yourself here, you call them 'desperate' and then use a "select section" of the article to booster your obsession Bob. I showed the rest and I think it speaks for itself but you go right ahead and just plug your opinion.

Yes, the big bubble explosion is just next, prices will decrease further minus 35-50% at least.

Better stand out of the way then.

You know the really silly thing is, that the property market in Poland is run on Polish people.
I don't see this guys obsession being in any way, shape or form, detrimental to the Polish market.

I dealt with 'your select section' taken out of context from Ober Haus to which you have no comeback I see, except for the same old negative opinionated uneducated failing statements.

What happened 20 years ago in Poland BOB? hey? And should prices now return to that of 20 years ago Bob?

COLD HARD FACTS AND ALL STATISTICS AND ALL CLEAR ARGUMENTS THAT ARE SHOWING WITHOUT A DOUBT THE CRASH IN REAL ESTATE PRICES THAT WILL BE IN 2010 in all Poland

You have no proof, no statistics that say this, no cold hard facts.
You are just pushing your own bias opinion.
Friday night and all, give it a break.

Life / 3 Things I LOVED about Poland [58]

The roads near me are generally in pretty good condition, no complaints really.

I was just wondering because they are doing a lot of work on the international roads and the A4 goes through Wroclaw and Krakow. Do you know if that leg of the build is finished?

I know parts of it definitely are.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roads_and_expressways_in_Poland - Roads and expressways in Poland Wiki

Also there is a huge amount of information (usually in Polish) on the Skyscaper forum, engineers are continuously taking photos and making progress updates, fantastic for the country.

The two things that have really benefited Ireland and Poland joining the E.U. is freedom of movement and infrastructure.
