Life / HELP ON BUYING COMMUNION GIFT FOR COUSIN (i currently live in UK) [3]

Hi guys!!

My Girlfriend wants to buy a gift for her cousin before she goes back home in May for his communion.

We are trying to find websites that may have authentic gift ideas to help us, do any of you have any ideas or links to websites that may offer gifts on-line for communions etc..

We have a photo album but want to find something more personal for him, we just thought it would be worth posting something here before going insane..

Much appreciated for any help and advice given in advance..

Love / What make Polish girls better than American girls [106]

hahahah that is funny. What is her accent... country read neck or what.

I think she was from New york... Yeah pretty sure she was. I know people cant help having annoying accents like that but regardless, less people will be interested, its only natural.

She was unusually stupid though.

lol

Life / What is the Drum n Bass scene like in Poland [13]

Brave of you to admit to it......don,t bring any to Poland , we have enough with all this tecno crap......try making some rock music , or at least something that can be listened to be people not out of their head on drugs......

Alot of people have this view on DnB, that's cool. The assumption that somebody who makes DNB doesn't make ANY other kind of music is a bit backwards but i don't lose any sleep over it. There seems to be alot of Trance in Poland, personally i was around when Trance was being invented, and it wasn't this vocal dominated crap you hear at disco's these days..

Anyhow - For me Drum n Bass incorporates all kinds of music which is why it sounds so fresh, BUT there is alot of commercial stuff getting played these days, a complete contrast from the late Nineties where the music had alot more impact.

Its a worldwide thing nowadays and each country has its own flavour, that's why i was asking if anyone on here from Poland produces Drum n Bass.

Drum n Bass - Britain's Best Export Ever.

Life / "I can spot a Pole a mile away" - Polish fashion? [146]

He still wouldn't leave the threats, so I said "feel these" (points at own upper arms).

Mate, no offense but that sounds so gay it could only of been made up..
ur on a bus in the uk..
some bloke is giving you ****.. you tell him to s-h-u-t the f-u-c-k up THEN ask him to FEEL your arms and he DOES..

couldnt of been much competition if its true.. probably the local bum..

but on average if you took a handful of polish blokes and a handful of english blokes, put them in a room and said FIGHT!! Street fighter stylee then.. the poles would probably win.. and enjoy it a tad too much....

hehe
joking guys-lol

UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

Some people at work say things like 'how much of your wages do you send home to your family every month'? to my girlfriend. That really ****es me off, people just dont have a clue about Poland especially if they read tThe Daily Mail or something. Even colleagues whom i regard as being quite intelligent have backwards views on things. As it stands Marta doesnt need to send money home and her family arent 'poor' as idiots would like to think.

Getting involved in a relationship with a Polish woman means constantly engaging in a debate about immigrants in the UK especially Southampton thesedays, thats is if you are proud of your loved one, if not then you shy away from heated debates.

People **** me off so much!!!!!!!!

Food / First time eating Polish food [30]

Kiełbasa: Polish sausages - white sausages are especially very tasty. They go well with pickled cucumbers (gherkins) in combination with beer or vodka and fresh air. Absolutly delicious man..

Bigos: appetizing, seasoned "hunter" stew made from sauerkraut with chunks of various meats and sausages, extremely traditional - This is heaven to me, real hearty food great fo the cold, even better for the tastebuds!!!

UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

A very tired issue no doubt but me and my girlfreind (shes polish) were just discussing wether most of the polish people wholive in southampton UK will stay here longterm or will maybe earn enough money to save up and pay for education in poland or maybe housing and things.

She thinks most people will only stay for a few years.

I think most people would probably stay long term but either way its not an easy question to ask.

Would like to know your opinions on it if its okay

Love / Getting married?? Keeping parents happy etc... Big Polish family. [9]

Ello peeps!

My girlfriend is From a big Polish family and her religion is Catholic. When we visited them for a couple of weeks last year i could see just how much religion is embedded in their way of life.

I am not religious, i dont know what i want to belive in and i have never been made to believe in a religion from an age at where i wouldnt know what it is and wether i agree in it.

But since we've been together (2 years) Marta doesnt hardly go to church and the excuse is always that she doesnt have time, but i encourage her to go as much as i can without it being annoying to her because i dont want her to come to this country and her family to think she forgetting or losing the values shes been brought up with.

Her parents arent too keen on us living together without being married.
I get the impression they would like the wedding to be in Poland and done in a proper catholic church.
They know im not religious, i have to say i dont believe in becoming a catholic just to get married in a church but i dont want to **** them off.

My family is my Father and My Grandmother. I dont get on with the rest of my family, cant stand them infact. Thats it.
Marta swears that all she want is to be with me however we decide to be married, but being a few years older (im 26, shes 22) i cant help thinking that i can see the bigger picture and her parents may disaprove..

I know my girlfreind is the person i want to be with in life. Whenever we talk about how we would get married i feel troubled. Do we do it in England, Poland? how would our familes understand eachother??

Do we get married in a registry office, sounds awful but i've no idea how it would be?
Then theres the issue of money, probably main reason we havent started to make proper plans yet..

I dont know, im just talking rubbish now..... Just wondered if anyone here is in a similar situation or has any advice for me..

Cheers

martin

News / Storyville: The Polish Ambulance Murders (BBC4) [43]

I watched this documentry on BBC4 the other day. I felt compelled to watch it from start to finish. Very well filmed considering the awful story.

I was amazed at the journalists quality of Polish!
