UK, Ireland / for polish people in uk-do u find it easy to live in this country? [19]

i lhave been living in uk (on and off) for about 5 years and i think this country is very similar to poland.i vave setlled down very quickly made a few british friends,2 of them are going to poland in september at my wedding.the english language causes me a lot of trouble especially its pronunciation and understanding people from the north of country.i quickly got used to english food apart from fish and chips and all sorts of pies.the english are mostly polite and nice, both nations drink a lot and i think i like it here

Food / POLISH GELATIN CARP RECIPE [7]

I've heard Polish people buy live carps and keep them in their... bathtubs until the Christmas Eve. Then they kill them and eat :). Is it true?

yes i used to do it each year, but it doesnt mean that we dont take a shower during pre -christmas period. i have to admit i was a mass murderer.unfortunately i cant do it now because i live in uk and its easier to buy fish fillets.anyway pork u bay from your local supermarket was a live animal so the only difference between me and u is that someone kill the animal for you

Life / Level of English among the Poles? [64]

its very easy to understand whats said in tv or when older people speak but when 2young english blokes talk it drives me crazy because i have problems with understanding themeven though i ve been living in this country(on and off) for 5 years. lots of poles know english grammar quite well but when they come here and they cant understand a word because of pronunciation they are shocked as was i when i came here first time in ..1999

UK, Ireland / Marrying a Polish citizen in UK [24]

i was an illegal immigrant in uk so were lots of poles.but the difference between us and pakis for example is that we never set off bombs on buses trains in underground.i have been here legally for the last 18months and i did not take even one day off sick, paid about 4500£ tax so far and never went to see a doctor.i did not claim any benefits and nobody gave me anything.what about so- called political refugees from 3rd world countries?not many of them work they get houses for nothing they dont need to do a day work to get benefits(we have to work at least for 1 year continously)they drain britains budget.

their culture?-dont tell me that pakis or somalians have mor in common with brits than we do

Travel / Traveling to Poland: Tips for First-Timers [47]

come on wujek relax a bit :) ive read it all and i think its an interesting article.i cant find anything rude or offensive there- its just funny.we all make silly things try to look, behave more serious than we are.the foreigners who come to our country may not understand everything.when i started learning english i used to nod and smile all the time because i did not want to be inpolite. when people realized that i did not understand they tried to demonstrate what they mean and it was very funny.probably he exaggerated a bit all spent his holiday with some old gits.steven-next time try to hang around with someone younger:)

News / Poland has now 2 presidents? [26]

there is a good example. The polish poeple who work and live in uk have to pay the difference between taxes in uk and poland.Unfortunately the cost of living here is not taken into consideration.example?i pay for a single room 380£ a months *6 equals around 2000zloty.how much would i pay in poland?even if someone have worked in uk for lets say 5 years but owns a house in poland the difference in taxes must be paid. There are some exeptions from that but it is not clear and what decision is made depends only on a penpusher you talk to.i find it very, very unfair.our goverment had a lot of time to change the law but they did NOT do anything about that. with my earnings i would have to pay 12000zloty(2000&pound:) for each year spent in uk,so would have my fiancee(24000zl a year!!), but i am not going to give them even one penny.so even though i am very keen birdwatcher i would like to shoot the ducks

News / Poland has now 2 presidents? [26]

my dream is that our goverment(s) would let us do our fings on our own.
marcinkiewicz?well difficult to say i dont really now what to think about him.he has gone now.but to make things simple i reckon that he was a bit too independent, thats why he had to go.take our country's situation:unemployment is falling, foreign companies are begging to invest in poland, everything is getting better so why did they sack him?

News / Poland has now 2 presidents? [26]

Could you explain why you pay taxes in england and poland when working in england

well its because the difference between the taxes.in poland we pay 19,30 and 42%(i am no sure if its correct) in england 22 and about 30%. 42 procent tax( in pl) is paid by people who earn about 40000zlotych a year(lets say it is 7000&pound:).if you earn 7000£ in uk you pay 22%. that is why the polish goverment want us to pay the difference between these two tax rates

Work / Pay, salary in Poland. [54]

believe that if poles stayed in poland and did not work overseas. poland would be a richer country

what about ireland then?this country became rich because of the eu help but ALSO because its own people coming back from overseas and investing their own money in bussines in ire.prices of houses, flats are rising very quickly in poland because a lot of foreigners investing in our country (especially in big cities)in small towns and rural areas prices rise slowly or remain at the same level

btw who are you lef? you seem to have a lot to say about poland and poles

Work / Pay, salary in Poland. [54]

no good having foreign people own a lot of real estate

unfortunately it is nothing good for us.the prices rose to the sky level in spain and france because of british but for a long time they have not fallen significantly even though that an average spaniard cant afford buying a property.i cant see that happend in poland(falling prices).in any country that joined the eu prices did not fall or maybe i am not right?i am not sure about greece and cyprus.

I think if Poland wanted to have nuclear energy there would be some problems too.

why do you compare iran and north korea to poland mate?i don't think there would be any problem with that.nuclear energy is a must for civilized countries. it's IF but WHEN we will build our first nuclear power station

fascination is about England...

i like england because it's multiracial and multicultural.you learn new ideas from others and others learn from you(apart from one group of people who i mentioned on a few occasions).i'd like poland to be a similar country to uk and everyone is welcome who can benefit to our economy culture ect.Only whose who want to come here and live on the dole, spread hatred(as certain man did in finsbury park in london some time ago till he was deported) are not welcome-stay in your shi.t holes, far from europe

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

Poland is still a third world country, and the current property boom is the work of big business. ie banks and lending institution.

poland is not a 3rd world country any more.have you seen sights like this anywhere in poland?

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

well when i spoke to my ex employer 3 years ago(indian guy who made a fortune from buing and selling properties)he said that he was going to buy a big property in krakow(tenement house)-if such a person thinks that poland is a good country to invest money i would belive him.if i remember properly at this time he already bought a few properties in dubai so he is not just a common investor.

This bloke wujek whoever he is doesn't know what he is talking about, he has never been to a western type country, all he knows is what he reads in comics ie micky mouse, donald duck etc

i doubt it somehow

The key to real estate is what my property might be worth in say 5 -10 years time and if somebody will be able to buy my property in that time. On current polish earnings that is the question.

Polish earnings are rising and i can not see them stop rising as so many skilled people are heading west.the unemployment rate is 16% now(compared to over 20%a few years ago) and still falling.in 5 10 years time the people who work overseas will start coming back and pumping their money into our system.once there will be a good infrastructure(airports and especially highways!)poland will develop even faster.Poland and ukraine stand a very good chance to organise euro champs in 2012 if we do the necessary changes will be imposed even faster.lef i respect your point of view but let me not agree with you.i am an optimist but only when time gone past we would see who was right.my only concern is the goverment we have now but even though i think they can't screw it up

Travel / During your travel to Poland what historic sites have you visited ? [30]

I think the whole regions' of Western Poland are interesting. In the East there're less things to see...

no,no,no i don't agree.i come from zamosc a middle- seized town in south-east poland.it has a wonderfull architecture.the town is not very old(built around 1580 by italian architect bernardo morando) but a lot of foreigners find it very attractive. check it out :)

ps what about bialowieza forest-the only natural forest in europe(you may see the european bisons there)?

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

]

Location, Location, location is the key to any real estate purchases, if you buy in the right location you will never go wrong

that is right i agree

poland is a baby and is heading in an unknown direction

well as i said once the time has gone past we would know

I stress and make the following point again, It does not help the average pole when real estate goes thru the roof as it puts them out of the property market.

of course not i am trembling already when i think about buing a house next year:)(

Years ago poles would purchase a block of land and build when funds were available and were relative debt free

what funds are you talking about?years ago an average Pole could not afford even a small things like video-player or fiat 126p

to borrow money and be at the mercy of the banks

that is what The people western countries do and we will have to accept it

How much can a average worker borrow and still maintain a good lifestyle.

competition is a cure for such problems-this word is ,unfortunately, still unknown by banks in poland

Increase health and petrol prices do not help the situation.

this affects every country, not just poland

Most people who leave Poland for a considerable amount of time rarely return to live pernamently in poland

that's not really true.the most WELL EDUCATED people who i know want come back to poland after a few years once:
they have saved enough money to buy a property
they gained some experience
they learnt english-as the level of english is not very high especially among us-people 30+
so let's the time go past:)
