Food / Is it just me, or is the Polish diet rather unhealthy? [119]

Had some dumplings today - thought they were great! I've eaten food all over the world and it's just a matter of getting used to local cuisine. Isn't everyone's Mum the best cook in the world?

Love / Broken Heart, An amazing girl from Poland [139]

Most guys on this forum will connect with that feeling you have dude. Your stomach turns over like a washng machine, you can't eat etc... If it's any help, try shagging another girl as quickly as possible, that usually helps...

News / What needs to happen in the world so that Poland and Russia form alliance? [297]

I was in the Army for 13 years and always felt confident when working alongside a Scottish Regiment. The Black Watch were my favourites but we still fought each other in the bar every night when we didn't have someone else to fight! That's just the way British people are right? We like to be independent but at the end of the day we rely on our neighbours in a real fight. The problems England and Scotland have bear No resemblance to Russia and Poland - that's just too ****ed up to ever mend.

News / What needs to happen in the world so that Poland and Russia form alliance? [297]

The question is... What would happen if the planet was invaded by Aliens? Wouldn't we just forget all of the politics, bitterness etc. - get together, blow the fcuk out of the scaly green f**kers and be friends during the process?

The problem is that once it was over, we would just start fighting each other again!

A bit Sci-Fi I know, but get the point?

I'm new to this forum but holy crap people, this forum is HEAVY! Been reading some threads and there are some serious issues here. And I thought Vodka was the drink of friends!

Love / Broken Heart, An amazing girl from Poland [139]

wildrover, you would make a great agony aunt, ever thought about a column in the local lonely hearts paper?

I remember having a heart to heart once with a boss about my recent broken heart and he said this to me:

If you are looking for sympathy - look in the dictionary between **** and syphillis.

Hated him at the time but love this wisdom now!

Between SH1T and syphillis., sorry, was just trying to be polite and not swear but hey it's after 9pm so who gives a ****!

Yeah life kind of makes you look back at things and change your opinions - don't you think? We all think we have the answers but in reality we all have lots to learn.

Beginning to sound like a preacher - time to finish my drink and off to bed....

That's what wisdom is, the knowledge that you are making the same mistake again.

And again and again and again. I've lived with 6 different women and have purchased more fridge freezers and 3-piece suites than most people have had holidays abroad!

Life is a *****, then you marry one, then another......

It's the same time here too - was referring to the UK law on adult language - what's it called - the Watershed or something like that? Never paid much attention to it myself! I'm in Warsaw, where are you SeanBM?

Sure, but how become a cynical will help?

It's either that or wait for the men in white coats to arrive!

I am south of Krakow, up the Beskid mountains.

Don't know anything about Poland I'm afraid - but sounds like an interesting place to live. Do you have many neighbours?

Life / Dogs in Poland - why do we keep them? [28]

Only been in Warsaw for 1 day and have to say that I've never seen so many bins on the street dedicated to dog poo. I have never seen dedicated dog poo bins in any other European city.

Food / Is it just me, or is the Polish diet rather unhealthy? [119]

My girl is Polish and she's a very good cook. She cooks me fantastic meals with lots of veg, rice, fish etc... Litte fat! I've never eaten such healthy food. Yeah, we have the occasional full-fat dumpling thing - but that's just a treat.

Maybe the moral of the story is to cook food at home?

Law / Invoice Terms in Poland [8]

Mate of mine is thinking of coming to Poland to live with gf, wants me to find out what the typical invoice terms are here e.g. 30 days.

Is it usual to write your terms on the invoice?

He's a teacher so will probably go down the self-employed route.

Ta

ps. apologies if this is already on a thread somewhere, did look, could not find..

Life / Who drinks more: Poles or Russians? [50]

In Ireland there is a pub culture, if you have not been it is difficult to explain.

Yep, those boys can drink alright! My old local in Walton, Liverpool is full of old guys who regularly drink 14 pints of lager every afternoon and still walk home! I'd love to see a Polish Vodka drinker sup 14 pints of Stella!

Edited twice because I'm really pis*sed!

I can't do anymore than 7 pints without being a total tw*t but I can drink Vodka! I guess it's what you're used to. Just finished a whole bottle of Balsam Kresowy (500 ml) and I can still type (just) - What a fuc*ing hero eh!

Life / What's really cool about Poland - A new boy's point of view [6]

I've been here a couple of weeks now and also read all the latest threads on this forum and thought it would be good to tell folks what I think of Poland so far. So from a Brit's point of view:

Firstly, I am NOT new to other countries. Having served in the British Army for 13 years, I've been around a bit. Dad was a squaddie too so I'm used to following him around the world! Born in Malaya, 17 years in Germany, a few too many tours in NI, a few dodgy trips to ..... (can't tell you) etc.

I am amazed at just how welcome I have been made by the Polish people since I arrived. Perhaps it's because my GF is Polish - but I don't think so.

Business has been easy, seems that a Brit in a suit with a good product and a smile goes down well.

Prices here are (in comparison with the UK) simply unbelievable. Everytime I go shopping, I feel like I've robbed the place!

Warsaw is so modern, just like any European city.

The language is difficult to learn but really cool - all that ZZZZ makes me want to sleep!

The food (when cooked by my GF) is fantastic - fresh, tasty - and cheap!

The beer is great!

The Vodka is even better!

They practically give ciggies away!

Public transport is fuc*ing amazing - always clean, always on time & cheap!

Polish women are gorgeous (with the exception of the occasional fugly)

Buildings are amazing!

History is inspirational!

Driving here is mental!

Kebabs here are wicked! and cheap!

Builders here do things the difficult way e.g. they build concrete blocks on site.

Zebra crossings here are really fuc*ed up!

Roundabouts are amusing!

The tramps are gentlemen!

The weather is how it should be!

I LOVE IT!
