Real Estate / Becoming a Polish landlord. [6]

What are the rules and regulations regarding renting out property to people in Poland?

Are there any specific taxes or rules for a foreigner buying property in Poland and then renting it out to English immigrants in Poland?

Basically, I'm trying to find out as much info as possible as I'm very interested in this subject.

Life / Poland: The Things That Make Foreigners Lift a Brow [123]

Also, I think Polish girls don't like to be reminded of their age..:}

I think that's women in general. I've been desperatly trying to find out this girls age (she looks about 30) and in the end I just said cant you just tell me and she always says "Polish girls don't like to tell" so I said "well thats ok, for all you know, I could only be 15!"

UK, Ireland / Will the Poles be out on St. Patricks day [66]

St. Patricks day has become a massive party in England, even more than St. Georges day. I was wondering if the Polish people in England are aware?

So there is a limit on what people are allowed to buy or just on what foreigners are allowed to buy?

The reason St. Georges day is not celebrated as much is because the government fear St Georges day could be seen as racist towards certain other religious / ethnic groups. However by trying to deny St. Georges day the government have adversely increased English interest in English culture.

However.... most people that even celebrate it just see St. Georges day as a day to go out and get pissed just for the sake of being English. Which I personally don't think is harming anyone.

Saint George was a major Patron saint for the English. He was demoted in 1893 and his importance was again relegated in the 60's. Pope Jaun Paul Second recently restored St. George to the calender. His status as English patron saint was around 1060, when a church in Doncaster first honoured his name.

St. Georges day is celebrated every year, it's not as popular as St. Patricks day but it's still a notable day.

Many modern day English now choose to fly the St. Georges flag over the union jack. St. George is also the subject matter of many English sports related songs.

The legend of St George is that he slayed the heart of a dragon and gave a young maiden a red rose, the national flower of England.

Language / difficult English words for Polish speakers? [119]

It would if it were correct.

UK, Ireland / Buy a property for FREE in the UK [12]

It's a con, so he's going to let you buy a property without a deposit but what he doesn't tell you is you'll be paying 5 times the standard interest rate!

UK, Ireland / My fellow brits here - are "traitors" by not dating English girls? [103]

I know there's a few other English guys here so I wanted to share my story and see if any of you other guys have been having the same issues.

There's a club I goto everyweek it's sortof like a local thing. However recently we've started to get a lot of Polish and lithuanian girls there and my ex girlfriend went around the club and told all the other english girls that I refuse to date English women and that i only date Poles and Liths.

Last weekend I was there and I got called a "traitor", "plastic pole" "male slag" "polish lover" and various other things by different English girls.

I don't want to stop going to the club, I love it there and to be honest, I like going there to dance with the Polish girls. The thing is i know theese english girls out of the club, there in my group of friends.

I can't helping thinking that when its world cup and we're all in the pub drinking together and cheering for england that the girls are going to say "no forget him, he left us and went with the poles"

It feels like some sort of divide, but its weird, because the polish guys are all ok they just have a beer with us and thats that. It's english girls that seem to be the problem.

Guys do you feel like "traitors" by not dating English girls anymore?

UK, Ireland / My fellow brits here - are "traitors" by not dating English girls? [103]

The thing is they never used to put me down before, they were always very friendly. But girls are just not like guys, they get jelous too easily and when a bit of competition comes along they start throwing their toys out of the pram.

English girls are really so complicated, you need a degree in psychology just to decipher the hidden meanings behind their conversation.

I don't really want to be around them, but they are in my group of friends, plus they are in my local club.

My friend has stopped going for Polish girls because he didn't like getting abuse plus the fact that he is in love with one of those English girls and doesn't want her to think that he likes Polish girls.

Love / I had a Polish female friend. Horror in my mind... [79]

Hang on a minute... You said you're 30 years her senior?!

You must be the luckiest 50 year old alive. Top man!!! lol

In all honestly though, maybe you should look for someone a little older. I'm 27 and not even I would consider dating a 20 year old.

I know a lot of the more "matured" men tend to head for Ukraine. Maybe you should take a look there.

UK, Ireland / Wages - UK and Ireland. [26]

Forklift drivers get around £7 to £10 per hour. It depends where abouts you live. The reason they get more is because driving a forklift is a skill (and you need a license)

If your looking to work in the building trade its probably better to learn a trade such as plastering, plumbing or carpentry. You can easily get £100 a day as a plasterer or a carpenter, and that's cheap. Plumbers get even more.

Odd job (i.e. unskilled) workers are the ones who get paid £50 cash per day or minimum wage. You don't want to be taken advantage of like that. So learn a trade.

The minimum wage sucks, you can earn more being on the dole. This is the reason why the English don't want to do the menial jobs, because they don't pay enough.

Life / JOKES ABOUT POLISH. Have we deserve it? [68]

In England we have the "englishman, irishman and scottishman" jokes, most of our jokes are usually about the irish, the scottish or the welsh. Although if its an irishman telling the jokes he'll usually tell an irish joke about the english.

Theres hundreds of jokes about the english, about chavs about all sorts of people from different classes and backgrounds.

Just laugh if off, it's a bit of fun, in England people like to take the mickey out of each other, Jokes and taking the piss are an important part of british life. british humour and can seem offensive to foreigners but its really not meant in a bad way.

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

Does anybody actually have any real figures on the Polish property market?

I want to buy houses in Torun, Poznan and Warsaw and I've tried talking to Polish introductory estate agents, but all I've been fed so far is bullshít.

Nothing seems to add up although I am interested in this market.

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

Bubbawoo do you have a link to proof of polish property prices increasing?

One guy (who i didn't beleive) told me the average house prices in poznan rose 20% in one year?!

Obviously now would be a good time to start buying investment properties before the Poles but my main concern here in England is weather the Polish market is going to be stable. If we do to the poles what we did to the spanish who is going to buy the houses? Spain was different because we sold the houses back to the English, but there are no English retiring couples moving to Poland.

I'm only 27 so I missed out on the Spanish boom, for most people my age our only chance of getting a portfolio is in eastern europe.

its all risky ground.

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

property boom, generated by overseas interests...

All of the deals us (foreigners) make are ultimately with Poles, the houses we are buying are from Poles and higher earning "British" poles are doing the same thing.

Nothing in this world is free, English investment in Poland is the price that comes with Poles being allowed access to the UK.

Basically its a 2 way thing.

I really can't debate the moral implications, but I am just trying to build a future for myself so that I can get a wife and start a family. How am I any different from the Poles who are coming to England to work? Are they not just doing the same?

UK, Ireland / DONT WORK FOR premiernursinguk [33]

I think the company is currently under police surveillance

LOL there has been companies that have been under police surveillance for years.

Police surveillance doesn't mean the Police will interveine, If it means busting a bigger terrorist group, they'll let this exploit run for years.

Life / Puertorican says GOOD-BYE to Poland forever [104]

The WHOLE WORLD hates the English but I've never let that stop me from going anywhere. Hispanic countries included.

The reason you're getting discriminated against is because your constantly going on about Polish girls, its not very good for the Polish guys is it. Look at it from there point of view, every man and his dog wants to come to their country and take a polish girl home with them.

If you show respect for Poland as a country then people may stop being racist.

I'm a English minority living in spain, and I quickly learn that once I started respecting Spanish culture, the Spanirds excepted me.

Life / Puertorican says GOOD-BYE to Poland forever [104]

That why Im, saying english etc because I think most capitalists that make money on us are english.

Ola, not sure if that was directed at me, but the reason I (and a lot of other English people) buy land in other countries is because the house prices in England have shot up, The only way we can afford to pay for them is by having money coming in from european investments.

The wages in England have gone down so dramatically over the last 5 years that it is no longer practical for an English person to work, we are better off employing eastern europeans and using the profits to invest into Eastern Europe.

It's tony blairs thought, he's created a false economy that ultimately exploits not only the whole of eastern europe, but it exploits the tax payers aswell.

UK, Ireland / The un-acceptable side of new entrant countries coming to the UK [56]

Anybody who thinks the UK economy is failing is seriously lacking in knowledge, What we are building at the moment is basically the British empire all over again. In 20 years time all major European industry will be British owned.

The reason we don't manufacture stuff in the UK is because we either buy or invest in foreign companies and run them in their own countries for much more profit. There is more money coming into the UK now than ever before.

Ethically it's very wrong for the people living in Poland and other countries as they will essentially all be answering to the english in the future

Power and wealth are more important to the English than national identity, that's why the borders are open. The UK has immigration agreements with other countries for a reason. English investment. We'll let your working class into our country if you let us buy out your riches.

The only real future is to make yourself a British citizen whilst you have the chance.

And the basis for this forecast is ?????

londonstockexchange.com

Go and look at any major player there.

Surely, you dont really believe this Lee?

Actually I do, I know some very high powered businessmen in this country. Eastern Europe is no secret and the UK has been doing it in India for years.

I'm not trying to boast or say the UK is better than Poland, I'm just telling what I know because I do this for a living. I have zero patriotic ties to the UK.

UK, Ireland / The un-acceptable side of new entrant countries coming to the UK [56]

Im just telling you what i beleive is the truth, it's the way myself and others see the future. The real hitlers are the people at the top who have the most money, they are the ones making the big decisions, not me.

What you do with your life is entirely upto you but it's naive to think Poland isn't affected by foreign investment. I can already see changes in the Polish market.

UK, Ireland / The un-acceptable side of new entrant countries coming to the UK [56]

I'm not talking about the property market, I'm talking about outsourcing.

szarlotka

szarlotka, I never said the UK was the biggest trading nation. The UK economy was almost obliterated after the war. But the UK's economic growth combined with it's political worldwide ties means we are at a much bigger advantage when compared to Germany. We are intervowen into America and the Commonwealth countries, Eastern Europe is the next peice to the puzzle.

For me this whole debate is centered around the point i am trying to re-iterate and that is that nothing in this world is free.

When it comes to Eastern / Western Europe it's all about give and take and long as the giving part doesn't involve germans I'm happy.
