cool interesting replies.
My mom is polish and I look so much more like her then my dad but it seems its the skin color that makes a big difference. Its funny because at first sight people think im Italian, Portugese, Latin American or middle eastern.

Keep the replies rolling!

I actually went to Poland for a year four years a go when I was 14. I knew quite a lot but when I came back to Canada I slowly started to forget even if I spoke to my mom in Polish. Its probably because I spoke English most of the time but I blame myself also for not continuing to learn the language. It was fun going back to Canada with a Polish accent that went away.

Yea I will for sure get back to learning the language. My one year in Poland was probably the best year of my life I have had. My uncle is actually coming to Canada to visit us and I will be going back with him to Poland for a month or so.

Im guessing you were skiing in Zakopane? Ive been there and it truely is a beautiful place!

Yes I do
To me it seems that I have the face structure as my mom but its the skin color and hair color that makes myself different from Polish people. But then again some polish people have dark skin and dark hair too.

I DUNNO IM LOST!

Genealogy / Has anyone taken Genealogy DNA tests? [87]

Wouldn't it be really interesting if you thought you were 100% Polish and found that you have genes from different countries? I can't believe some people would get upset about it.

Well maybe im bias since im half Polish

Life / Is it safe for me and my Asian friends to come to Poland? [44]

I lived in Poland for one year and I am half Persian half Polish. I look more Persian because of the dark hair and light brown skin And I have NEVER ONCE received a racist comment towards me. But then again asians and black people will probably have a tougher time since there so exotic Im sure there are Poles that would love to know you. But in this day of age unfortuantly we still got them racists!

Life / WHY POLISH PEOPLE DON'T USE THEIR NATIVE FIRST NAME WHEN ABROAD? [136]

I was just kidding there.
Still, sometimes I am surprised at the difficulty people have in pronouncing names. Mine is Dariusz. It confuses the heck out of so many locals here. If I drop the "z" then it makes it kinda easy for them. In the end, I give them just one try and then I suggest they use a name they are most comfortable with, and from then on I react to anything weird that starts with the letter "d" ;)

Oh my this sounds similar to my problem as well. Im half polish half persian and my parents choose Dariush (Dariusz in Poland) as my name since it is a name that is quite familiar in both Poland and Iran. I live in Canada and most people mispronounce my name and it is really irritating to me. In the english language it is pronounced Dare-eee-osh and to me it sounds rediculous that way. The Polish way of pronouncing Dariusz is much better, sometimes I wish my parents had left out the H in my name =(
