Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

People smoking in the main shops in cafes and restaurants...Ban that crap!

That`s really bad, especially in the winter when all windows and doors are closed! Not nice!

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

What did you find really strange? What really shocked or surprised you? Tea served in a glass, stray dogs, no smoke alarms, or maybe something entirely different...

I thought about one more: Glass window on the bathroom door. What`s that for?

The first time I came to England I couldn`t believe their breakfast, it`s much stranger than the polish one! Both are tasty though :)

Life / Beauty saloon in Poznan? [9]

I pay £50 in London and find the price ok, but you can`t compare prices this way because living in Poland you will be earning in zloty and not in pounds... paying £100 pounds for a hair cut would be expensive ;)

Life / Cultural readjustment... returning to Poland from the West. [58]

She's gone from being called PoshPolak and swanning around shopping, eating out, parties, and living the life. To a much more restricted selection which aren't on our doorstep.

Don`t get me wrong, but with such a good life in UK, why did she go back to Poland???
I think if someone is moving to Poland expecting the same life style as they have in UK, they will be always frustated. Poland is a different country, with different culture, different values and so on. I`m not trying to decide here which one is the best, but I`m from Brazil living in London for now and I realized that in Poland you find things that no money can buy. If you like design clothes, michellin restaurants, incredible night life, celebrities gossip, starbucks and alike, busy streets, don`t move back to Poland.

Anyway, best of luck for you two! :)

UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

Some people at work say things like 'how much of your wages do you send home to your family every month'? to my girlfriend. That really ****es me off, people just dont have a clue about Poland especially if they read tThe Daily Mail or something

Yes, I agree so much with that and I`m happy someone else feels the same what I feel. I`m from Brazil so it`s even worse... when I say I have a polish husband people (specially english) tend to make a pitty face to me assuming tha myself being from Brazil and married with a polish guy we have no option other than live in UK earning " the marvelous pound" . People should travel more and know the world out there...

UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

anyone see that TV show on immigration last night (in UK)?

I saw it. It caught my attention why in the program the journalist interviwed every race, former imigrants (idians, africans, caribbean) and not a single eastern european. Was The program was about imigration or about eastern europe immigration?

Again, kind of Daily Mail approach...

UK, Ireland / Migrants' advice packs proposed - from BBC on Poles in the UK [15]

Immigrants should be told not to touch people without permission, spit in the street or play loud music, Communities Secretary Hazel Blears has said.

In any moment in the article it was said this was for Poles. And if anyone did read the comments below you could see how people think how stupid this idea is.

eg:
My good lady is Romanian, and she is shocked to see young ladies drunk and being sick in the street as in Romania this would result in being ostracized from their community. Perhaps we should have a pack saying simply, "Do not do what you see in England, do what you know is right."

Vin, Stratford

When I moved to the UK from the US, some practical information would have been helpful - how the UK financial system differs from others, how the house buying process works here, how to write a UK-style CV. But the information suggested above - don't spit in the street, don't litter, be sure your kids attend school - is utterly patronising and frankly would be better directed at some of the born-and-bred British.

Heather, Glasgow

Zion, don`t get me wrong, but you are married with a pole, aren`t you??? How can you just post nasty things about Poland and its people???

UK, Ireland / Polish doctors fly over just to work in the UK [15]

It should not be allowed simply for the reason that Polish doctors are dreadful. I had a private operation once in Poland and my God, it was awful! He had no regard for pain killers and even now, after all these years, the memory haunts me to this day! I am not a science or medical man myself but even before the operation things he was saying simply did not add up. Make sure you have a good qualified doctor. A lot of these Communist trained doctors from the East are not up to

My friend was pregnant and having a lot of pain in her belly. Somehow she knew something was really wrong with her pregnancy, but once she was going to hospital every time and doctors kept saying everything was fine, she let it go. When she completed 8 month she went to Poland and found out her baby had died in her tummy 3 month ago.

bad doctors are everywhere, please don`t generalize!

The majority of doctors that are making mistakes and costing the NHS - grievances, going off sick for months at a time with stress and making the most of free training in the UK are overseas doctors (I dont mean EU), you see they come here, get all the nice free training and then apply for a British passport!...unbelieveable! And they are UNGREATFUL and crap!

My friend`s doctor was born-and-bred british I`m afraid.

UK, Ireland / The Independent about Poles in the UK: "Poles are under attack." [83]

have you not been deported yet to your s.hit hole cfountry my little brazilian friend?

Excuse me, have you ever been to Brazil?? I agree Zion is a big joke and probably a very sad person too who won`t be happy in Poland or anywhere in the whole world, but Brazil has nothing to do with it. Brazil is a wonderful country full of happy and nice people.

Life / Poles' tolerance towards other Races [190]

Educational, vocational and criminological statistics would contradict you on this point I think.

Have you ever heard about Incas and Astecas?? And how further developed their culture was from the european one??? Clearly you haven`t...
There is nothing to do with race or skin colour. You are definitely stupid. What`s your color skin????????????????????
