News / What did Poland get out of the wars and struggles for others? [1108]

There was no promise by either country to take military action against an aggressor in the aid of the other.

Both had aggreed that they would cover Poland if Germany attacked. France had a longer history and therefore they had 1921 aggreement already and just updated it.

the terms that Poland would have followed.

Even after Poland knew they were betrayed they continued to fight for the very allies that they knew were betraying them. This to me says alot.

From Britian;

In 1939 Britain and France signed a series of military agreements with Poland that contained very specific promises. The leaders of Poland understood very clearly that they had no chance against Germany alone.

"If Germany attacks Poland His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom will at once come to the help of Poland."[3]

And from France;

These talks resulted in the Franco-Polish Military Convention which, according to historian Richard Watt, stated that "on the outbreak of war between Germany and Poland, the French would immediately undertake air action against Germany. It was also agreed that on the third day of French mobilization its army would launch a diversionary offensive into German territory, which would be followed by a major military offensive of the full French army to take place no later than fifteen days after mobilization."[8]

we found a viable alternative....really I do!!!

is it worth the cost?

If Poland is sitting on riches they could send over they should tell us soon!

Maybe Poland would if they were not held captive until 1989. In time Poland must come up with alternate energy. Just think if Germany was not alone paying for Holocaust and Russia had to compensate for their part how much better off Germany would be.

Rough translation: you have had enough of being made to look stupid by having your lies exposed with facts that you can not argue with.

Strick that and look carefully at what you are saying. Harry I feel there may be a medication for your issues. First step is to understand you sound like a mixed up, angry, anti Polish fool that cannot read facts. Please stop spitting lies and trying to get others to hate the way you do.

concentration camps operated by Poles in Poland after the war.

I repeat, there is no such place as "Polish Concentration Camp" , they were camps in "Soviet/Nazi's occupied Poland" as Poland was whom the camps were built to house and be killed within.

What a shame that Poland has managed to convict no Catholic Poles for the crimes they are so eager to prosecute Jewish Poles for.

In order to convict there would have to be trials, seeing as how this was to much of a bother, the ones we request trials for, refused to do the same for the victims. So I guess you should be thankful we ask for trials.

But noooooo....making a political stunk...calling it a Molotov-Ribbentrop-Pakt....THAT is so not clever!

If Germany were to look at the reason Russia wants to spead more money, risk the enviorment for the pipeline? Germany could join with Poland as a united front then the EU could not be broken apart in this manner. All this does is buy Russia into the EU at the price of unity the EU. Germany sold out to the highest bidder and the price is a losing a solid EU.

wind up merchants who dont learn from their mistakes

Can you tell me the odds Poland had? Stuck between two sick dictators? This was not just Soviets vs Poland or Nazi's vs Poland. This was two main powers with nothing but destroying Poland and anything to do with her and you seem to think doing nothing would have stopped this attack in some way? Giving in to Hitler would never satify his hunger for blood, it would simply have made him want more. As for Stalin, his thirst for total control would swelter if he saw Hitler getting any where with Poland.

So you do think that Poland's situation should have taken precedence over all other matters?

IMHO it would have stopped WW2 from becoming a world war. Nazi's were not just looking at Poland, this was where they started. I also feel Nazi's mistake was taking on one to many fronts and if they did not do this the out come would have been in their favor.

Should protecting/saving Poland have been a priority for Britain even if it meant that Britain and the entire outcome of war would have been compromised?

Yes, it was never just Poland. Not just British but also French.

The opportunity to fight a brief, localized war against Germany was therefore lost in September 1939. In hindsight, also lost were the opportunities to save millions of lives, to rid the world of Hitler, and to have prevented the creation of conditions that led to the Cold War. As General Ironside commented in 1945, after much of Europe was in ruins, "Militarily we should have gone all out against the German the minute he invaded Poland. ... We did not ... And so we missed the strategical advantage of the Germans being engaged in the East. We thought completely defensively and of ourselves."[21] And so they did.

worldfuturefund.org/wffmaster/reading/history/polandbetrayal.htm

They should start working their brains instead always so eager to fight (and being proud of it).

You seem to forget it was not Poland that attacked Nazi's and Soviet's. Go to 1939 and what did you think Polish would do? Therefore we are not the ones without brains, eager to fight.

Britain was threatened by Germany in 1939?

I find it rather odd that British forgets that Polish depended on them. Just think of what the out come could have been?

[quote]The British and French betrayal of Poland in 1939 was not only dishonest, it was a military stupidity of truly monumental dimensions. Unfortunately, more betrayals would follow. Contrary to their assurances to the Poles Britain and France would agree to allow Russia to keep the parts of Poland seized as part of their deal with Hitler in 1939. They were to be compensated by the ethnic cleansing of all Germans from lands that had been German for over 1000 years creating a humanitarian catastrophe at the end of the war.

Poles just whine about not getting help fast enough, unless they are already busy lying about not being invited to parades and/or the British not supporting

I see the word "betray" does not come into play? This was not getting help at all. So British watch as Poland is attacked by both Soviets and Nazi's.

Polish did not lie about the parade. A few of Stalin's "communist Polish" may have been invited. Maybe you forget Polish knew they were sold out to Soviets by the allies they fought with.

"Poles just whine" is such an insult to the ones you address. Poland lost her independence, the very thing we also were fighting to keep.

Despite numerous Polish requests, the Brits had refused to extradite WoliƄska to stand trial as a Stalinist criminal in Poland.

It is rather sad that justice was not carried out. Thanks for the update.

The rest of this post I’ll take as your opinion so I’ll refrain from pointing out the obvious dishonesty, you just don’t know any better.

Sadly, :( I tend to feel "Harry" knows how to bs and alter history to hurt Poland's pride and enjoys trying. Therefore I feel the best action as Borrka offered,

interesting creature - should be stuffed and presented on the next world's anti-Polonism exhibition.

would be best. :)

News / Dealing with constant insults against Polish [323]

jews openly and often publicly attack Poland/Poles

I think if we look at this aspect we must ask why the Jewish want hard feelings? I voted "no" for sueing Germany when I saw the report was from "Israel". It may make other more careful when reporting but we have to look at long term relations.

Poland threatens to sue German newspaper over 'Polish camps'

The error was made in a report from Israel, printed Monday in Die Welt, detailing a visit by Israelis to the World War II concentration camp near Lublin, eastern Poland.

History / UPA barbarian murders on Polish and Jewish neighbors during WW2 [150]

And even more sadly that many of those murderers are still alive!

Many have been traced to Canada living well but I must think the ghosts of actions in the past must add a negitive within their hearts.

agree, it is all about timing. Juliet is in the US, so she is not really concerned since she will not be feeling the outcomes of Polish foreign politics.

agree :)

So you feel this has been forgotten? If this were the case we would not seach for families and just pretend this history never happened. There will never be a perfect time when looking at this part of history but it can bring a renewed friendship in the end if done with everyones feelings in mind.

Well there arent any memorials of that act in ukraine...

The plan's are underway.

[quote]Another former Soviet republic, Ukraine, announced plans in July to erect a statue in Lutsk, western Ukraine, honor of Stepan Bandera, a leader of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) that fought against the Soviets during WWII.

History / UPA barbarian murders on Polish and Jewish neighbors during WW2 [150]

Thanks Celinski we know all about Katyn and the lingering grievances between Russia and Poland because of WWII, unforgotten are the Kaczynskies in using the WWII to bribe more influence in the EU, now some are eager to pull out skeletons out the closets with the Ukrainians, about 70 years after the deeds happened, against a now needed ally....what for I ask!

Your welcome. :) What took place 70 years ago has been brought up between Poland and Ukraine. This was put on hold due to the fact that Poland had invested many hours looking into and documenting the past and Ukraine said they needed to do the same.

In order for open honest relationships in the future to be strong, the past must be dealt with. If it was not for Poland being silenced for 70 years this would be dealt with and healing would already have taken place.

History / German POWs after WW2 - did the allies commit mass murder? [228]

Lets not forget this was not just Nazi's it was Soviets as well. They did not attack first but in unison.

Only since the collapse of the Soviet empire have we learnt the full truth, for example, about the horrors of Katyn - when Stalin in the spring of 1940 authorised the murder of thousands of members of the Polish elite. Indeed, the crime of Katyn runs like a cancer through this history, as we see how the Western leaders helped suppress the truth about the murders during the war. "We should none of us ever speak a word about it," wrote Winston Churchill on a memo in 1943, referring to a secret Foreign Office investigation that was to show that the Soviets had most likely committed the crime. The American President, Franklin D Roosevelt, went further. When a functionary threatened to go to the press revealing that Stalin had almost certainly ordered these murders, Roosevelt promptly had him sent off to what was effectively exile - to work as a government official on the other side of the world in Samoa.

News / Will Democratic US abandon Poland to Russia and Germany? [23]

Polish girls look better but Israeli girls give better blowjobs

Please show some class. Some of us may not care to hear of your dreams.

From what I'm reading Russia could care less who won US election. USA will not abandon plans over threats.

U.S. Doesn’t Fear Russia’s Response to Missile Defense Deployment in Europe
The U.S. Department of State expressed Wednesday the general disappointment in the wake of RF President Dmitry Medvedev’s promise to relocate Russia’s missiles to Kaliningrad Region in response to the ABM location in Poland.

Should Poles in
Poland thank the US Polish community for their selfless support in this?

Lets hope that enough Polish American's write to the new President and he understands our concerns. I did notice Obama (after seeing others reaction) did take a stronger stance on Putin and Russia's actions.

History / Katyn- forgiven and forgotten? [111]

Russians have never had any problem with killing people, even its own, which by modern accounts historian Norman Davies puts Soviet deaths of their own people (i.e., the Revolution of 1917 to the fall of communism in '89) at >55 million conservatively.

IMO This is the reason responsability must be taken. In order to change the full history. Russia knows that with "Katyn" comes 1.8 million sent to Siberia, killing of Polish officers that were serving as allies, not to mention there own military if they tried to assist Poland. It's the domino effect that Russia has kept from falling. Here is some of the outcome. Many feel Poland should have just left the meeting.

"The sessions of the Polish - Russian historical commission have not gone very smoothly either. The commission gathered to explain all circumstances, as the members said, of the crime committed by Stalin's regime and finally solve the question of the Katyn genocide. However, opening the meeting, Russian foreign minister said it was a heresy to compare Stalin's rule with Hitler. Commentators started wondering what does each side consider as solving the divisive issues. Examining the truth or shutting down the debate once and for all?"

"Finally, after two days of discussions, the commission decided on a joint publication. Polish and Russian historians are to describe most controversial issues from their separate points of view and these are to be published within one book, chapter by chapter in two voices. The book is to be out in two languages in 2009."

"This Russian attempt to revise history, although not supported officially by the Kremlin or Russian authorities are aimed at a propaganda effect among Russians and many

simple Russians indeed believe it's true.'"

History / Katyn- forgiven and forgotten? [111]

Maybe this will help.

The case of the Katyn massacre has found its way to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. A plaint against Russia has been filed by heirs of Polish officers murdered there by the NKVD in 1940. A year ago, another plaint was lodged by Memorial, a Russian non-governmental organisation that has for years been demanding that the whole truth about the massacre be told.
