UK, Ireland / 13,000 Polish births this year, in the UK [180]

Well, Wroclaw boy, if I were as boorish and callous as yourself, I could say tons of nasty things about your own country - about its, let's us call them gently, shortcomings. I choose not to do that, but focus on positive things instead. And, based on my extensive travels in UK, I can tell you plainly: you have no real reason whatsoever to put down my country and puff yourself with pride about your own country.

It seems not just this forum, but also Poland somehow attracts some psychopaths from the British Isles. The Poles are one of the few nations still friendly towards the British, but this may change soon.

And we too should head out of UK, en masse. That's what I've been telling Poles I meet during my travels in UK, and that's what I'll keep on repeating.

But dude ive just about had enough I want to get the hell out of here.

- Yes, you should get out as soon as possible, with your wife, or solo, who cares - but please YOU do get out.

Czechs are not well liked for how they treated the Germans during the war

- What are you talking about, pal? This is really deranged stuff. Better think of how Germans treated the Czechs during the war. Are you into the German Nazi revisionist movement, or what?

I wish the Poles could take a note from their neighours and step up to the plate, I instantly noticed the change from Czech to Poland as soon as i crossed the border i.e miserable people staring, virtualy no one speaking English, poor towns, bad roads.

- Who the hell are you to make demands on Poles what they should be?

I'm starting to see now the other face of England with creeps like you. You're certainly promoting a good image of the English in Poland.

I am really beginning to wonder what the hell am I doing here!!

Dont know how much more of this shite I can take.

- Yeah, you should get the devil out of Poland right away, along with your little wifie; there will be two Polonophobes fewer there.

News / How does Poland imagine other countries see her? [84]

undoubtedly there are Poles in GB who have exploited the system and are freeloading there!!

- Are there? I haven't met any personally; instead I've met folks working hard on any menial jobs you can think of.

They call these people freeloaders

- This one is a rough English 'cwaniak,' and not fond of Poland and Poles at all. And I once called this type 'friend of Poland and Poles.' Shame on me.

There are greedy thiefs everywhere. But living in Poland and in Us I noticed some differences

- Like fewer thieves in US than in Poland?

what... and poles dont?

- Not as much as Americans.

next youll be telling me they go to the uk for the food and the weather... be real

- Didn't you know that? They go to UK because there's unemployment in Poland.

What are you doing in Poland? Get real.

- He says he's in Poland because 'fun' is cheaper there than in England or America.

Actually, Puzzler, it's very common for Americans to refer to themselves this way

- Yes, it is. And it's weird - why not call yourselves simply Americans?

it's just a way of stating their heritage and background. It's not wrong or "fake"-it's just a culturally different way of identifying ourselves

- Hm, so your heritage and background, and identity aren't simply American?

Might want to think about that a bit

- Do you suggest I haven't?

USA, Canada / Roads and Driving rules in Poland versus America [63]

think it was the independent

- It was The Times. 'Huge rise in foreign lorry accidents blamed on difference in road rules.' November 14, 2007.

Strangely enough, the 'ten countries ranked by highest rate of increase in collisions caused by foreign drivers in the UK' are all 'Eastern European' countries plus the Republic of Ireland.

Of course, it's the Poles who are listed as having the highest number of lorry accidents in UK. The source of the info is given as 'UK Green Card Bureau.'

It all looks kind of fishy to me.

USA, Canada / Roads and Driving rules in Poland versus America [63]

re: tzcew, wehjerowo

- Never heard about such places. Would you mean Tczew and Wejherowo?

I visited Gdansk many times, but never noticed 4 lines of traffic on any of the roads.

So those alleged four lines of traffic are due to 'careless driving' or to something else, e.g. narrowness of the road, too many cars? E.g. in your native England I've seen lots of weird driving, including driving on the sidewalk by two passing cars, but it was many times due to the narrowness of roads there.

What else, apart from road accidents, has increased in England because of the Poles? Crime perhaps...?

there is absolutely nothing funny about people dying due to careless driving

- So why are you laughing?

accidents have increased 15% in the uk due to central european drivers

- Do you mean that road accidents went up 15 % in the UK because of Polish drivers? Where did you take this news from?

i can

2 lane road

4 lanes of traffic

frequent occurance

- Which specific city would that be, which road? Sopot?

which for some reason always seemed like an odd mix to me

- Are you intellectually capable of identifyng that 'some reason' for which the Polish and Irish 'mix' should appear odd to you, oh ye Irisheyz from USA?

:)
PS. When I lived in North America (US and Canada), I met lots of people calling themselves Irish, even though they actually were Americans and Canadians. Many of them appeared to me extremely arrogant and prejudiced towards us Poles. Actually, I thought all Irish were like them, until I came to Europe and lived in Ireland for some time, and found that real Irish are in Ireland, not in the US or Canada, and that, unlike the fake 'Irish' from America, they are fabulous people, not Polonophobic at all - in fact the least Polonophobic people in Europe.... I also found that quite a few real Irish aren't too fond of the 'Irish' from US.... :)

My mom is 1/2 Polish

- Save us God from 'Poles' like you.

lol indeed but a lot of them dont survive

- What is so funny, pal? And which country has more car incidents - Poland or USA, or your own country? By the way, I have seen with my own eyes how some folks drive in the latter....

In my experience the Polish are crazy drivers! While there are some crazy drivers in America the Poles just seem to take it to extremes

- What do you mean that 'Polish are crazy drivers' and that they they 'just seem to take it to extremes'? Can you give any specific examples of this alleged 'craziness' and extremism, ye 'Irisheyz' from USA?

The rules of the road are fine!!!!....if the Polish could be bothered to observe them!!!

- So according to you all the Polish don't bother to observe 'the rules of the road'?

History / WW2: Britain Declares War on Germany to Save Poland [290]

Ozi Dan

- Good God, that is a very good very eloquent post, Dan. I'll be awaiting isthatu's reply with great excitement.

Cheers.
:)

and that the real turning point in the battle was made by the North African tribesmen of the Free French further down the valley

- Looks like the usual westernist putting-down-the-Poles propaganda. It used to be quite naughty (and silly) in Britain and US. I remember something similar - the claims that the Polish-Russian war of 1920 was won thanks to the French. Norman Davies has demolished this myth in His White Eagle Red Star. Perhaps the Polonophobic Cassino myth needs a similar treatment?

History / WW2: Britain Declares War on Germany to Save Poland [290]

Following the right path as Poland did is not the easy way

- Very true, brother.

I have never received any bad-mouthing of Finlands participation in WW II from either British or Polish so I guess they understand our situation at the time

- No hard feelings or bad-mouthng on our part at all. In fact, in Poland we admired you for giving a good thrashing to Stalin's Russian army. You beat the crap out of them. A brave nation you are, real warriors.

:)

Go drink tea, lick qeen's ass and go learn when General Plan-Ost was created

- Come on, Greg, there's no reason to be so offensive. Especially because isthatu is a really good guy - cool, knowledgeable, and not Polonophobic at all. You've shot some Britophobic crap at him; should he now reply in kind with some Polonophobic crap? He'd have the right to do that. Let's be friendly and respectful or less so towards the right people. It's definitely right to be friendly and respectful towards isthatu.

Cheers, Greg and isthatu.
:)

PS. Greg, isthatu. - God bless Her Majesty for Her kindness towards the Polish people.

And God bless English tea - the best tea on earth.

News / Poland turning into a religious state? Polish politic and Church. [96]

Rydzyk supported the KaczyƄskis

If the priest helps him to become president of his country, then yeah, i guess he has some power

- What does it have to do with the power of Church in Poland? Do you mean that FATHER Rydzyk (that's his title for you - Father Rydzyk) is the Church? Besides, Father Rydzyk is disliked by many Catholics; he is in a sense on the margin of the Polish Church, not in its centre.

During the recent elections, Radio Maryja and Nasz Dziennik (two - very good, actually - media connected with Father Rydzyk) supported PiS, but PiS lost.... Would you say the Polish Church isn't powerful any more? Or would you argue that PO won because Father Rydzyk-the Church supported them, not PiS?

:)

Great Heavens, it's nearly 2 am, and I've got to get up at 6 am and write. Bye, Polsonek.

Well, Polsonek, you're a nice intelligent dude, but you've got to question both what you get from others and your own convictions. Always ask yourself: 'And what if this isn't true?' in regard to other peoples' statements and your own thoughts. And learn as many facts as possible. Then you'll be a really bright guy.

Yeah, Mr the President is a big friend of Father Rydzyk...

- Really? What do you mean by 'friend'? E.g. what do they do together?

So if President of a given country befriends a priest this means that the church the priest belongs to is necessarily powerful in the country?

One of Tusk's first visit is Vatican...

- How would the visit be evidence of the power of the Church in Poland? Well, the first - if I'm right on this - visit by Tusk was to Lithuania. Is it evidence of the power of Lithuania in Poland? :)

Poland is 90% Christian

- Is this also hard evidence of the Church's power? Why?

Don't say that the Church is not powerful in Poland

- Are you implying I've ever said the Polish Church isn't powerful? When, where?

But you're saying that the Polish Church is powerful, aren't you? If so, then you must know some facts on which you base your opinion. What are those facts? Can you give them?

common Puzz, you are just stirring here. If you really follow what is going on in Poland, then you would notice that church wants more power than it had during communism. It has nothing to do with religion.

- What do you specifically mean by my alleged 'stirring'? So the Polish Church just wants to have some great power, but doesn't have it, is that what you mean? Have you got any proof of this alleged big appetite of the Church? So according to you the Church had lots of power during communism? How would you then explain the persecution of the Church, including imprisoning and killing of priests, its being controlled by the communist authorities to the extent that they had their say in who should be made an archbishop, etc.?

You know, miranda, I'm not surprised you're defending Polson, as you and him appear to be kindred souls: you both repeat cliches you've unconsciously have picked from the media hacks - empty cliches, not supported by any hard evidence.

so why make religious education a compulsory A-Level subject ?

- And why not? There are other compulsory subjects too. What's the difference? Why should knowledge of Christianity mean not to let live? And Poland is still a Christian - Catholic country; Christianity is closely connected with our national culture and values. If the majority wants the knowledge of Christianity to be a compulsory subject, what's wrong with that? Does democracy mean the rule of majority or minority, Polson? How should knowledge of Christianity hurt atheists or non-Christians? Does e.g. physics hurt those students who don't believe in physics? Or does it make any one of those who study physics a physicist?

Are we all obligated to be Christian

- Are we all obligated not to be Christians? Are we all to accept as only true your idea of 'freedom'? Why? Why should your view be better than that of Christians? And do the Christians criticise you as you're criticising them? Live and let live, mate.

I'm still waiting for a proof from you that there's too much religion in the Polish government....
