History / Western Europe and America vs Russia WWII - chances of Poland being saved [494]

Are you some kind of idiot?Greece which fought against both Italy and Germany

I don't know why Greece was listed under Wikipedia's "joint German-Italian puppet states".
Perhaps someone should correct Wikipedia's link.

As to what kind of "idiot" I am, well, there have been several descriptions but no one has yet been able to put a label on any of them. One of the forerunners is, savant-idiot.

Well...if you think an army can conquer nearly the whole of Europe only with killing unarmed civilians...well...you should take your brain to a doctor!
I don't care what you think..you are an idiot!

What I think is this; it is wrong to attack a country and murder innocent men, women and children. By calling me an "idiot", you have lost the argument. Here is some advice; make your arguments logically, don't name call (or shout). Of course being an "obedient" German perhaps that is too difficult.

You've made several comments which suggest that [Germans] starting WWII was just a progression of how things were inevitable. I suggest that tanks, planes and soldiers murdering innocent people in their homes was immoral and wrong and not standard fare or normal.

Look at WWII pictures of weeping familly members hunched over their dead relatives and try to tell your "obedient" self that this was ok.

German allies contributed to Nazism. The first was the Soviet Union which helped split Poland in two. Of course Operation Barbarossa changed that alliance. The friendly Vichy French allowed the Germans to put more soldiers to the eastern front instead of stationing them in the west. Additionally there were the German-Hungarian and German-Romanian alliances which provided manpower and supplies. I won't count the Spanish Blue Division which went to the eastern front and was never heard from again. The Japanese were responsible for many American (and other) resourses to be diverted to the Pacific theatre (to say the least). The Italians? well, they did tie down some ally divisions for a period of time. ... but all these and more were contributors to the Germans.

ZIMMY:
Really" The war had to be fought? German logic?
-----------
Logic of the war...of any war!

That answer is an automatic loser. Once again, attacking innocent villages and murdering defenseless families cannot be morally, let alone logically explained.

Don't you have another stereotypes to indulge in?

No, the "obedient" German is sufficient.

there was a war to be fought...you do that best when you fight the enemy army.

Really" The war had to be fought? German logic?

Poland was an enemy to Germany? Poland, finally became a country after a century and a quarter of being split by 3 major powers. Poland only had two decades to get itself together before it was savagely attacked. I'm afraid that your attempts at rationalization of Nazism has jaded you.

Idiot!

Take note that you are the first at name-calling.

Does that come from the same source where your "obedience" wisdom came from?

"Obedience" is a well known German trait. You seem proud of it.

I don't blame the people who voted for Hitler

Most interesting.

nor do I blame the soldiers who did their best.

Yes, invading innocent villages, machine gunning down families etc is something to be proud of.

I am proud of brave feats

Yes indeed. Brave feats ..."just following orders". Very obedient Germans......

yes, I think Germans follows their laws generally (broad generalization of course).

It has been general knowledge whether true or false that Germans were an 'obedient' people, that is, they (literally) marched to orders. Not infrequently, when someone did what he or she was told it was said ''just like a German". Feel free to 'combat' this prevalent premise.

History / World War II - a tragic story for Poland and the World [489]

Gentlemen, gentlemen, thanks for the history lessons. I'm surprised I didn't know some of the 'inside' stuff presented here. It's as if you fellows are pipe-smoking yet street-wise professors while Bratwurst Boy is the indignant student surprised by facts that demolish his opinions.

History / Poland: dont blame us its the Germans. [174]

A quick aside; not all crimes against 'minorities' are racially motivated. Second point; many minorities commit crimes within their own groups.

people are still pointlessly, um, pointing back to WWII :(

Not "pointlessly"; people rarely seem to learn from history - and they should. As to winning the war, well, that's not true for Poland now is it? The people had to live under tyrannical communism while the allies celebrated.

The Polish 'beefs' are legitimate and still too close (timewise) to so many.

How would you know...Hitler was interested in talks!

I notice that you responded exactly one second after I posted. Now that's blitzkrieg for you (and quite impossible, hmmmm).

Oh yes, Hitler was "interested in talks" allright. He was so anti-war after all. Perhaps you could write a book titled, "The misunderstood and peace loving Adolph Hitler"?

No further comments from me until tomorrow.

Poland wasn't inclined to negotiate and talk these things through to find another solution

Negotiate with Adolph Hitler? ...like the British did? How naive! One would have more success negotiating with Attila the Hun.

Life / 800 thousand Polish women are victims of domestic abuse yearly [180]

Putting a story out there, without distortion, but withholding some info is not lying.

A distinction without merit. Let's look at the following scenario (one of many that can be postulated).

Mrs. Kowalczyk's Yorkshire pudding is placed in her window sill. Her neighbor boys, Stashu and Jeeves walk past Mrs. Kowalczyk's window and Jeeves steals it. Later, Mrs. Kowalczyk sees Stashu who looks suspicious and asks him if he took the pudding. Stashu says "no" and goes his gloomy way with his head down.

Technically, he didn't lie but by omitting the full facts he left the (lying) impression with Mrs. Kowalczyk that he had no knowledge, let alone anything to do with this theft.

A distinction without merit.

Can't respond until (at least) tomorrow.

"are you suggesting that only feminists provide unrealistic data? Why would they do it?"
-------------------------------

In the U.S. money is the prime incentive. If numbers of 'victims' are high than more money for the organization in question is solicited. Women are considered "battered" even if they are not hit. Yelling at someone counts as being brutalized. [Of course by that standard almost every married man is "battered" as well.

An example of "unrealistic data":
I attended a forum where women's groups and shelter advocates for women were giving their speeches and soliciting funding from attending companies. One of the speakers stated that 29 spouses were killed by their marriage partners in the past year in Illinois. No one challenged that point and one day after that conference I looked up the data and found out that indeed 29 spouses were killed by their mates. The problem is that 11 of those killed were men who were murdered by their wives. That information was not stated by the female speaker who implied by omission that 29 women were killed. Not stating the full truth is lying, and that's what feminist advocates do.

I've been traveling and still am 'on the road' but I know you've missed my correcting data.:)
