Love / 5 ways to intimidate/ turn off a Polish or non-Polish men;) [93]

Could be a male thing;)

well we all know that 'man flu' is the worst illness ever. Strange, when I had the flu a couple of weeks ago it didnt appear to be such a big deal. I was still able to go to work, cook dinner etc..

And 'minging' is not only said in Scotland.. Its common in London and the Midlands too.

Travel / Cheap airlines are not THAT cheap anymore ! [30]

i hate Ryanair... they charge a £12 fee for certain types of credit cards, not to mention the other hidden charges. Honestly if it werent for T5 fiasco I would rather give my money to BA

UK, Ireland / Polish citizen worked in the UK for 1 year - eligible for an UK pension? [23]

It depends on your National Insurance credits

Exactly! There are plenty of British people who cannot claim a pension because they dont have enough credits, usually because they have had some period out of work or only worked part time. If you settle here, work full-time legally, pay tax and NI all your working life and stay til you retire then you would qualify, but if you come over for a few years and go back, then why should you?.. you would get your pension in Poland.

Travel / Krakow going down the toilet! [184]

I wouldn't class this as a "sex industry" though,

It is the sex industry, cos these girls are working as prostitutes and not victims of sexual abuse. They often do it by choice to raise money for their families due to extreme poverty. I have seen working girls as young as 11 or 12 in Cambodia.. and not all the punters are Brits or Americans either. Germans and other Europeans and Aussies and Kiwis also feature heavily. Anyway back to Krakow....

Travel / Krakow going down the toilet! [184]

Dont be a snob saffire! Thats an outrageous claim to make! I suppose youve never come across toff rugger buggers on a night out then?
And,do you think the tickets are only cheap one way? A cheap flight to Warsaw from here is also a cheap flight from Warsaw to here! Lets ban cheap flights and make it stupidly expensive for Polish ex pats to nip home to see their families

I dont think you have understood my point. I am certainly not a snob and nor am I saying that all cheap flights should be banned, but I do think that its a simple fact that destinations with cheap flights attract lager louts looking for a cheap weekend away. Having said that it would help the planet if there werent so many cheap airfares.. bring back the golden age of travelling by ship. As for rugby players on a night out, actually no, I never have come across that.. guess it depends where you hang out.

Travel / Krakow going down the toilet! [184]

The blame lies with the cheap airlines. If flights to Krakow were more expensive there would be no lager louts and stag parties.. simple as that. With it getting cheaper to fly to more Polish cities it will only spread. Spain suffered the same problem back in the days when cheap package holidays were invented.

UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

Really! are we really discussing that? This thread was created mid february the program, Immigration - An inconvenient truth was broadcast on TV last night, and is relavant to this discussion.

So may i ask you sir what are you on?

Whoops your a female, ohh that explains it then.

If you look at post 19 which I made on the day after the aforementioned TV show.. Ok I admit I didnt name it, but had you been following the conversation it should have been clear. Seems like there is another thread on this now anyway. I shall have to assume that you were joking with the last comment.. now get with the plot.

UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

It was about immigration generally. I imagine that he will be interviewing eastern europeans in later programmes as he talked about polling people at all levels including those newly arrived.. presuming he can find any that speak English that is :)

UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

Ok possibly I am, but I was just trying to make the point that Polophobia in the UK seems to be spreading and those who were previously targets of racism are now some of the keenest to diss it out themselves...as highlighted by this programme. very sad.

UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

anyone see that TV show on immigration last night (in UK)? from watching this it seems like pretty much everyone in the UK hates the Poles now, especially other generations of immigrants such as the UK Asians, Caribbeans etc..who have been here for some years and feel angry about the recent tide of migrant workers from Eastern Europe who are coming here only to make money and not to settle and bring something to the economy like they did. 85% of those polled want to stop immigration to the UK altogether. God, Im sounding like NOImmigration here, Im not saying I agree with these views, but it cant be good that such hatred is fast becoming the majority view.. There will be race riots again before you know it.

Love / My polish girlfriend has changed following death of dad.. [153]

In not Polish, but I have lost my dad. Everyone reacts differently, but at the time I was very angry and pushed those closest to me away, even though they were trying to help me, Relationships can seem unimportant at a time like this, even though clearly they are more important than ever. You never really ever get over losing your parents, but time is a great healer so just be as patient as you can and give her the space she needs, whilst reassuring her that you are there for her. However bear in mind that it may be that she decides she cant cope with being in a relationship whilst she is still mourning. Good luck.

Life / An understanding of how people go out in Poland [4]

doesnt it also depend on whether you are married and have children? Surely a lot of Polish people would be settled down in their 20s and therefore maybe not going out so much, but I know things are changing.

Travel / Spending money for vacation in Poland [15]

what about the protective clothes.. do you have to take them with you? I have never been skiing in my life, well unless you count one time in Norway when I was so bad I came back down on the lift! I only want to try it for one day so dont want to go and buy all those puffy waterproof clothes you need. Im not sure you can do it in jeans can you.

Life / Polish escort services - legal in Poland? [98]

hit them with a bit of heroin

thats the key isnt it. Once they are on the smack or crack they will agree to anything. Many years ago I had a mate in Brum who ended up the same way after meeting a flashy rasta who charmed her with his BMW, drugs and money, moved her into his place as his girlfriend initially and when she was addicted sent her out on the streets. She was a beautiful, intelligent 18 year old ...2 years later she was dead.

Ok thanks that is helpful. I will definitely want to drink beer, vodka and have nice food so I just wanted to get some idea. Even though I am going with a Polish guy, he doesnt have a clue! Thanks for that apartment tip Shelley, I am going to stay there. Anyone any ideas how much it costs to hire ski gear per day in Zakopane?

no I didnt. Ive seen it first-hand, but dont like to watch stuff like that on TV unless it has something positive to say and not just sensationalising it. Im guessing it was about this topic?

OK I know this could vary a lot, but on average how much money per day do you need to eat and drink well in tourist areas. I have asked my bf, but he doesnt know as he always eats at his families place.
