Your comment over my post does not match

i made a ridiculous comment to match yours LS... and illustrate a point...

it might come as a suprise to you that the uk faces a housing shortage that pales polands in comparison... its almost impossible to get on the housing ladder now with out considerable financial support... and how hard people work a has little to do with it...

owning your own property is an important part of being british... our home is our castle etc etc... more so than other european countries... many people are unable to get on the property ladder in the uk - more and more are looking overseas to make their first purchase... if poland is having the same problem then why doesnt it follow our example...?

Life / Moving a family to Poland, any info, advice needed [51]

i am biased headstrong but i suggest gdansk - much more fun for kids growing up, beach and forest on the doorstep etc...

getting worthwhile jobs without a competent knowledge of polish will not be easy and the job market in the tri city is obviously not the same as warszawa... saying that... IMO the tri city is ripe for the introduction of fair trade and organics and there is a growing cafe culture... why not just pick up where youre leaving of...

costs are hard to estimate - house prices are soaring as we speak and loans for new comers are not so easy to come by. that said, rent remains comparitively low and you could probably live a reasonable life for in the region of 6k zl pm...

if you want more specifics, ask and people will happily answer...

That is, foreign property buyers cant only buy at certain areas (alocated for foreighn investors, who dont stay in Poland, or are workers abroad and have commercial reasons for buying houses - instead of basic living reasons) but also they can buy property only of certain limit (say an area through which they can make 3 bed, 1 living, 1 dining, 2 toilets, 1 varenda/lawn). Beyond this the foreighner CANNOT buy.

thats a great idea... sort of like the british policy whereby imigrant polish workers are only allowed to work in certain areas alocated for overseas imigrants... such as waiters and toilet cleaners... beyong this they CANNOT hold a decent jobs...

this i just fair. And our youth need it

Life / Poverty in Poland [50]

the powerty of certain groups in Poland is growing

the same can be said for most eu countries, no?

"One in six Europeans is living below national poverty thresholds, with children particularly vulnerable, according to the results of an official study."

"In 2004, 16 percent of EU citizens lived under the poverty threshold defined as 60 percent of their country's median income, "a situation likely to hamper their capacity to fully participate in society."

"The rate ranged from 9-10 percent in Sweden and the Czech Republic to 21 percent in Lithuania and Poland. "

guys... thats a really good piece of advice... take it... especially if you are planning to play with fire...

Incorrect Brian, Poland is for Poland, not the British or Americans. EU dosn't mean that people from other countries can take over Poland or for that matter Germany etc

you havent quite come to grips with the new reality that poland now lives in have you...?

oh well... keep trying...

two things worth understanding ola

firstly, polish land is EU land now and that means EU members can buy it - the same rights apply to you..

secondly, it is polish greed that is forcing property prices sky high, not hoards of scavaging capitalists...

i realise that this is very hard for you to acknowledge but really, dont loose sleep over it...

Real Estate / general questions about Gdansk locations [12]

gdansk has a beautiful old town

https://polishforums.com/travel/poland-hometown-vacation-pictures-1066/4/

close to shops, various shopping centres, theatres, cinemas, bars and restaurants. the main street is pedestrianised and starts at the top of the old town, about a 5-1O min walk from Zakopianska, and runs down to a canal at the bottom with gates at both ends - see pictures in link above.

the old town is a mix of old and young with an emphasis on old if anything. loads of tourists, especially in the summer when they have various events including a huge market that takes over pretty much the whole of the old town.

i dont really know much about brzezno other than it has a beach and a pier... it is near the nowy port part of gdansk which is full of ugly communist blocks but also a part of the city ear-marked for huge regeneration... at some point in the future... when they get round to it...

this site will give you an idea of what property is being sold for

partnerzy.gda.pl - it has an english version

search under gdansk brzezno and gdansk siedlce
